I love you video ships
I used to work for a firm that chartered oil tankers. One day they told me they were going to put me aboard a ship like the Prometheus Energy at 04.30 in this video as it transited the Bosphorus. The ship was not going to stop, they were just going to hoist me up from a small pilot boat running alongside. They never did, thankfully.
Funnily enough that was the closest I ever came to actually being on a ship and I moved millions of tonnes of cargo round the world. I only ever saw them when I went to the seaside a long way off far out at sea. I have never even stood on the quayside next to one.
That tanker is close to shore on the starboard turn. Goodness . I bet those people that live along there get scared every now and then
The way they are turning, they must have their bow and stern thrusters on as they are not following a smooth arc but swinging the stern out while the bow stays more or locked in position on course at low speed. The camera angle also makes it look close to the bank as well.
