I was looking into changing belts on my tools, and I seen these, and it peaked my curiosity. So I cam here, and I was sold in a few minutes. Now let's see how well they do with high rpms and heavier loads.
@INVICTUS FARMER eghhhk. I ended up going back to regular belts. The regular belts did just fine. I expected a justifiable difference... it was like using a Dewalt drill and upgrading to a Festool. They do the same exact things, and while it might do something a little bit better, it wasn't a quantum leap in any aspect. ... It was still a belt, but it required more maintenance. I couldn't just pop it on and forget about it. If I didn't use say the drill press for an extended amount of time, I'd have to release belt tension or the next time I used it, it would be wonky from the belt being shaped around the pulleys at a certain spot. It would take a bit to get warmed up and straighten back out, where a regular belt never really had that issue. Basically, it overcomplicated the process without providing any valid improvement.
@INVICTUS FARMER well, it never hurts to try it? Lol. I'd probably like them if they were $10 but with regular style belts, and even Poly Belts being so inexpensive and still effective, it's hard to justify $35-$70 for a belt. Either way, best of luck!
@@carterscustomrods im curious about them because my particular application doesn't lead to adjustability of belt tension. being able to pop a link when it gets loose is very appealing lol
I replace the V-belt on my table saw with a link belt, and loved it. But very soon the link belt started climbing one side of the pulley, and eventually started being thrown. So I carefully adjusted the alignment of my pulleys, got a new link belt, and had the same experience. Any thoughts on what could be going wrong?
+Ed Pace - We have recommended PowerTwist for lathe applications, of which many of them do reverse. As long as the lathe comes to a complete stop before changing direction we don't foresee any problems. We would love to have feedback once you have it installed on your application. Thank you!
I have a vertical milling machine that requires a "B" size belt. The cogged belt that I am currently using transmits vibration to the machine. I would like to use a Power Twist belt for this application but, this mill is reversable. 99% of the time I run in the forward direction however there are times where I may reverse my machine's rotation thus reversing the belt as well. Would this be a problem. I have an "A" size on my bandsaw and love it!
Kenny Fowler, thank you for your interest! As long as the machine comes to a complete stop before changing direction the reversing should not be a problem. However, be mindful of the minimum pulley diameters when switching from a cogged belt to PowerTwist. For a "B" size belt we recommend pulleys at least 5" (125mm). Generally speaking, adjustment pulleys are not used with PowerTwist Plus because once the initial growth is removed from the belt it no longer stretches, therefore eliminating the need for further adjustment. That said, yes an outside or backside pulley can be used with PowerTwist Plus as long as the diameter is 1/3 larger than the recommended minimum pulley. (i.e. 3-1/4" OD for A section and 5-3/4" OD for B section)
Our PowerTwist Plus belting has been designed and tested for Industrial applications and not for Automotive, Lawn and Garden, Construction Equipment, etc. With that said, if the belt on your Automotive application matches one of our PowerTwist Plus belts and you want to try it, feel free to do so. However, no guarantees with regard to performance or longevity.

Yes, PowerTwist should run properly in a sewing machine, as long as the correct belt size is chosen for the stock pulleys and they are not smaller than the minimum pulley requirements for that belt size. Thank you for the interest! We'd love to hear your feedback once installed.

Is these bets are useful for a 6Ft conventional lathe for it's head stock transmission.

I'm going to try one on my Bridgeport mill that has a reversing switch ,
I guess the belt should be fitted to suit the most often used direction of rotation.

Application irrelevant as long as the specs of the belt tie in with the use - e.g. power transmission required, smallest pulley size etc.
