So....where did you get the belts from? I got one in Jan 2021 and the belt has melted all over the entire assembly. I have been trying to look for generic belt kits for Fisher - or generic belt kits in general but I can't find sets with small enough diameter belts.
I had the idea of using belts that came with the motorized LEGO sets but I am not 100% sure if they are robust enough to handle this application (but they are the same kind of laminated rubber belt)

Just clean everything really good with rubbing alcohol to get the goo off. I used rubber bands from a bag I got with all different sizes and 2 years of constant use still fine. Also these are prone to have gears slip in the carriage that takes disks in and out. It's always the gear on the left side at the bottom. It's a pain in the ass the fist time you get the gear aligned. I have restored so many of these things. Even the fisher premium models of Z1 are designed the same way.

@@darrelldarrell1447 Alright. I have no idea what the state of mine is until I get a belt on, as can't do much with it without the tray moving into place. I actually found a generic square belt kit assortment on Amazon that I am hoping will do the trick.

@@MrWolfSnack if they don't just grab some rubber bands. I buy the packs of 100 with all sorts of sizes. Let me know if you get it working. As long as the carriage is square you should be ok. Also replace the belt at the bottom back of the carriage as its going to be goo just like the other one. These are really nice units. I even have the original remote for mine but programmed it to my Logitech harmony elite remote.

@@darrelldarrell1447 I don't use rubber bands. I did that when I was 15 on a couple VCR's, it never worked. They snapped within a week and when they didn't, they threw the mechanism out of sync. They are elastic and they stretch and that's something you do not want with a belt.

@@MrWolfSnack These don't have any tension on them like a vcr and you are taking a long time ago. Rubber bands now days are much stronger. Years of use on tape decks and cd players and changers and never an issue. Again I only use them in stuff I can't get a real belt for. When stuff gets old like this we do what we can to keep them working.
