    as a pool professional, the best thing that works for me is first clean the filter, put two scoops of trichlor granules, 8 oz of Orenda PR-10000 and run the pump for 48 hours and brush the entire pool. Then waste vacuum and clean the filter again and adjust ph after. It has worked well 100% of the time every single time

    Hi David! Any tips or suggestions for retaining employees during winter months when pool service work is slow

    • @SPL
      @SPL  Год назад

      It's hard if you close your pools in your area for the Winter. Some companies stockpile some earnings and pay these employees a small retainer in the Winter as many get part time or full time jobs in other fields. The best solution I have heard is a pool company in New Jersey that also has a plumbing company and they just give their pool techs plumbing jobs in the Winter.

    My pool is 34,000 gallons but is nowhere near as green as the pool in your video. Would you still recommend 1 gal/1,000 gal ratio? I can definitely see the green algae buildup throught the pool.

    Hi David! Great video! Question...If I have a multi-valve unit, when I super shock the pool to kill the algea is it ok to just set it on circulation to bipass the filter so that I don't have to back wash so often? And then use the floc once the alea is dead?

    • @SPL
      @SPL  2 года назад +1

      You can do that but it might just be better to floc the pool and then just vacuum to waste.

    • @SPL

      I don't see why not. The plaster will probably need to be redone soon. So it won't do any real damage.

    My cya levels are too high, rendering my chlorine useless so I’m doing a drain & refill with a chlorine rinse. My question, I’ll be using a pump sprayer to apply the chlorine to kill the algae. Should I dilute it with water first, if so, how much? Or can I use it straight ? Thanks.

    • @SPL

      Doesn't matter really when the pool is a swamp. Floc will lower it and the chlorine amount I state will suffice for CYA over 200 ppm.

    why not dump the hole pool water if its that green, seems like a waste of money and time to fix the water qualitiy

    • @SPL
      @SPL  2 года назад +8

      You can do that as well but there are a few cautions. If you drain a green pool into the gutter the city may fine you - here it is several thousand dollars. Sometimes there is so much gunk on the bottom that a sump pump can get clogged. Then after draining you still need to kill the algae, pretty easy with a chlorine wash. If it is 90 degrees or hotter the Sun can chip and crack the plaster surface while the pool is empty. You can’t safely drain a vinyl or fiberglass pool as the liner may come off the sides or the fiberglass shell my pop out of the ground. Last, the cost of water may be prohibitive as many areas in the west is in a drought.
