I ran my first really long run yesterday, technique definitely can go out the door after a certain number of miles 😅

Training your small and medium glutes gets rid off many problems. Clamshell etc can do wonders. :)

I don’t know how you run in the heat/humidity where you live. I live in Virginia. I get out early (5:30-6:00) and my shirt is soaked with sweat after only 4-5 miles. I have to bring a small towel with me. The temps here are around 70-74 degrees in the morning with 90-95% humidity. You guys rock!

I think for the casual runner who runs 2-4 times per week but has aches, mobility is the #1 thing to look at even before strength. Running is a very natural movement so I wouldn't try to force it to change before making sure the body can actually move through various different motions. Hip mobility, hip mobility, hip mobility.

Amazing that you run in that heat, humidity through the summer.

Drills done correctly and constently will also help with form and cadence

I personally spend a lot of time on my S+C especially my flexibility, elasticity and mobility and a lot of my S+C incorporates gymnastic work using rings. Core balance and strength is key to any activity and enables correct engagement of postural muscles which in turn frees up the locomotor muscles to engage. Biomechanics is a fascinating subject and whilst different species I learnt a lot about human BM whilst studying for a degree in equine biomechanics. Great video as always ❤ how you both cope with the Thai heat and humidity is amazing.

What causes me injuries is swapping shoes. I have learned that if I'm running pain free, not to mindlessly start rotating in and out a bunch of different trainers. I settled on the Endorphin Speed 2 years ago and just run in them and will be sad when my last 2 pairs wear out.

Pretty good. Some of what you said definitely rings true. I neglected mobility and single leg work for years and now have really regressed. However most running analysis, including the ones that you showed, are done on treadmills and that’s definitely very different, especially for me. My biggest problem is moving forward. On a treadmill ( dreadmill I call it!) you’re just running in place, even slowly, but outdoors is my problem. I can only run forward literally for only:10-:15 before jamming up and then shuffling, basically walking. Any suggestions how to analyze and improve my running form outside? Thanks

Great video. I've never really had any trouble with injuries being a casual runner for 20 years. I see a lot on technique change and am sceptical, because I don't want to start hurting myself, which would slow me down anyway... Unless it got me into the Olympics or something 😂

I love both of you! Sometimes I feel I don’t belong here as you 2 actually WIN some of your races, are so much faster than I am. I’m a middle-of-the-packer. But you always seem to make us all feel included. I’m just coming off of a non-run injury so will be rebuilding slowly. Just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your videos, info and love of the sport!! p.s. Mary… what brand is your tank (green/teal one) at the end of this video? I ❤ it!!! Have a great day!!

I used to run with my phone on my pocket. It would slap my thigh as i jogged. Eventually i realized i was making small body corrections to accommodate the phone. Really, i was running unevenly. I switched to an arm band. Helped

This is good few years back maybe a little bit more. I was getting a lot of foot related injuries to all this other stuff and why want to his foot doctor again he had this curved treadmill in his office. Also that if you don’t land right is not gonna move well for me on the regular treadmill and he stopped me within seconds he said oh not gonna get injured here and told me what I was doing wrong and threw my foot strength that he was working on. Had me start running more minimal walking more minimal downhill strengthen those three months and, kind of wish you filmed, but he said it was a lot better and then back a few months after that I was actually able to run on that curved treadmill. It was really neat because you don’t land underneath your body treadmill stops even though it’s not but it’s pretty wild from them. He did different things that I should be in like minimal shoes for me at least once or twice a week andShrek, my feet now I always do that and I haven’t been to foot doctor since so good very good point and my running was increased in distance and all that kind of stuff it’s good

One thing I forgot to add is my foot doctor there told me your form isn’t your problem. He said your form is following your body and he was able to address parts of my body that were unbalanced or weak and one side and I never heard that before that’s what his role was. There’s nothing wrong with your feet. Nothing wrong even with your form he said your form is following what your body is like, pretty good

At the park I saw a beautiful girl running ahead but when I caught up close enough to see her more clearly I noticed that she was carrying her mobile phone in her hand while she was running. Anyone who would do that is bound to get injured and shortly after give up running altogether.

That's a strange comment to make on a channel where most of the footage is filmed handheld whilst running.

A handheld water bottle is heavier than a phone. I've never had an issue with that.

That last bit is a stretch, but certainly could affect form negatively. For me it would mostly affect my mood negatively, no way could I tolerate carrying something on any regular basis lol

Cap, running for 4 years. Phone in right, water bottle in left. Running changed my life. I get your point though. I don’t remember the last time I ran without them though.
