Fascinating listening to your setup and testing experience. VTOLs need to make many compromises, so make optimizing more challenging. I like your thumb-cam mounting technique on the nose. (8:25) I haven't see it done this way before. Like the simplicity. @JustFPV did a bunch of testing of props and motors for the T1 last year. His work might be a useful reference, or he might be able to provide some suggestions.
As his follower, I have an a suggestion: I would like (in the future) to see Arxangel`s videos about new cellphones and tablets. His narration, and the details he looks up could be a magnificent experience for the people who would like to know honestly pros and cons. Thanx 😄
Have a look at mLRS project - it will transmit RC link and bi-directional MAVLink over a single SemTech SX12xx RF link. With mLRS you can get your AAT more easily working as with current state of ELRS.

@@mauritz1774 The way you describe it is possible it may be a tad tail heavy, else it wouldn't be going up and down like that... or could be some issue with the autopilot, so best check that in full manual mode, if it still goes up and down, then its a CG issue or you are overcorrecting on the controls! Actually the autopilot in any stabilized mode should be able to iron out the up and down of the tail heaviness and you wouldn't feel it. Did you fly it in manual or stabilized mode when the up and down issue was present?
Hi there… I’ve been kinda out of the FPV loop for a while. Got back into RC cars and been using my DJI drone…. So my Ranger 2000 with Eagletree Vector setup has been sat on the shelf for about 2 years! It’s equipped with the RMRC 1.3GHz system… and I feel like it’s all quite old now. What’s new? Is digital really good enough now for long range? What would you advise somebody who’s been out of the hobby a few years to check out? ❤
Hey, welcome back! The long range depends on what you consider to be long range. Some systems can now reliably do 20+kms of digital video, although for me analogue is still very valid, and if you've bot had any issues with your setup, might as well keep using it. The upgrade to a digital system is a want... no a need thing! :)
@@ArxangelRC I think I’d like to go digital after being used to the DJI stuff. Not just for image quality but the size and fragility of my antennas. What about flight controllers… the Vector is awesome but obviously discontinued and I think my air speed sensor is broke, and I can’t find a replacement. Is the MFD still the best ‘plug and play’ system?
@@chrisf5475 Well the DJI system is also the most expensive, but seems to work adequately well at the very least up to 13kms, perhaps more if there is no interference! My only hands on experience is with the SIYI system and I am pretty happy with it, some people have been out to over 40kms, but it does have more delay, which for plane cruising isn't really an issue. There is also OpenHD, which is cheapest option but requires a good deal of DIY and finding some obscure components to make it work well, I've heard Walksnail is also decent... and can't recall what else! As foe the FC, yes, the MFD is still a very good plug-n-play option.
I bought the MFE Hero, and the problem is: Where can I get a case for this VTOL in Europe or other place in the world? Can you help, please? Thanks. (The case from MFE: case = 450€ + 450€ of taxes and transport = 900,00€ Final))
I don't know to be honest. Unless you order some custom case, your option is to get it from China, or to use the original packaging the plane came in! The plane is actually made to fit back into the original foam box even with gear on it, so that might work!
They can, although they have less capacity, but for this one its OK as its just for proof of concept, I am no looking to break endurance records here. When the tabless cells hit the mainstream then it will be even better as there will no sacrifice between capacity and amp draw.
4 inch props are pretty much useless for most fixed wing aircraft....As for the 50 x 30s.....So, the APC props are a good choice and being two blade means you can balance them....Why were the hover Pids so way off?.....🤔😳🇬🇧
The APCs didn't really need any balancing, seemed good out of the bag, and were quiet during forward flight, which means they are adequately balanced already! As for the PIDs, they were way off because the tune I used was made for other motors and ESCs, possibly also a slightly different weight, so all of this makes a huge difference when tuning!
@@ArxangelRC Your tail rotor is stationary and not utilized much in plane mode. How about adding unnecessary complexity and implementing the same transition feature as with other rotors😄 You could place a pushing rotor at the end of the tail for plane mode and update the tail to an H-form, which would be more suitable for transitioning to hover mode in this case. cheers mate you've already made a great project
@@ЗінаїдаПетрівна-в1ф Hahahaha, you said it right... unnecessary complexity!!!!! Don't think I want to go down that route! The idea was to go with something that would lend itself easily to a VTOL mod, and the T1 was the perfect candidate, which I even already had in my possession! :)

Great conversion, I would stiffen that tail and seems bit heavy for t1 ranger but hey, it flies great.
How do you stiffen the tail? Also how do you figure its heavy?
How fascinating this flight is! Thank you for the good original vertical take-off airplane.
Thank you! :)
Nice, you have it flying pretty well at an early stage
I hope so! We will see how this will progress.
I remember a guy on RCGroups setting the MFD mini Crossbow to work via WiFi to an ELRS converted R9 module. Maybe that'll help you.
Interesting, will try to find and see what that's about, thanks!
