Honestly what you are doing here and with the cw corner is really great. I've been making a cw push myself and while videos from people like k4swl and k6ark help inspire, this helps us have something to strive for thats realistic, not someone who's been sending morse code for over a decade. Not a lot of people are secure enough to show the baby steps like this but I think it helps new comers

I enjoyed this one, Josh! It is good to see others that are in the early stages of the Morse code journey out making it happen. I'm hunting and chasing POTA/SOTA using CW mode while I get my copy and sending up to snuff, which is helping me improve much faster than I thought. All the very best, Gordon (KO4AYC)

Thoughts; Wear a hat that leaves some space between the top of your head and the top of the hat. Dead air space insulates. Reduces chance of sunstroke.
Can you rig a nylon cutting board to hold most of the things you're holding? Maybe add a 1/4-20 socket to it so it will mount on a tripod? It would probably look like a music stand. You can guy a tripod for stability.
Looks like there is enough wind to fly a kite to haul up an antenna. 1/4 wave end fed? Use a screw-in-the-ground dog stake to tie off the kite.

Just did my first one and I had another summit call me from mount Palomar to me in the eastern part of South Dakota. Having that preprogrammed was a life saver, (at least for my nerves hihi😂). @@HamRadioCrashCourse I appreciate the sincerity. I’ve seen at least one death in my very own ICU directly linked to vaping and they were young and healthy. OH yes, I agree! But cigarettes are FAR worse. Speaking as someone who was once addicted to cigarettes, switching to vaping was a live changer, I was sick less, I could breathe better, I had more energy, the list goes on. I appreciate your medical recommendations, but I think when addiction is on the line going with a much better, but not great solution has got to be on the table.

@@HamRadioCrashCourse I too was a heavy smoker and eventually used vaping as a means of quitting "again "and it did indeed help me stop smoking. I too felt much much better for it, initially.
I got to the stage where I was building my own coils, mixing my own juices etc, I even go to the stage that there was no nicotine in the juices.... and then it started, the deep heavy coughing... and it just wouldn't go away until I stopped vaping.
I no longer smoke nor vape for several years now and I feel great...
I agree with Josh that it is the far lesser of the two evils and that vaping is clearly a lesser evil than smoking but at the same time it causes lung problems, at least for me it made me cough , a lot...
I've just gone through some serious surgery which involved making multiple Xrays of my lungs over a period of time and I am happy to say that my lungs are healthy and in good condition. So it goes to show that when you stop there is a chance that the lungs will clear themselves up eventually.
I am not an anti-smoker or anti-vaper but if someone asks my opinion I will happily provide my own case results and suggest that it is best just stop any kind of smoking. There are zero advantages.
Josh keep up the running /walking , you will eventually lose interest in the vaping too and feel even greater..
Great video by the way. It's good too see that things don't always work even for the initiated..

Wow!! Great video. I wish I could do the things you do.
I hope you read this comment. I’ve been on hyper drive to do CW POTA lately. Now, many activations and many more Hunts under my belt. Here is what I’ve learned.
    1. If hunting and you get “xxx? or x? . . .”. NEVER send anything but your FULL call sign. You are confusing the heck out of activators when they send ?. He even sent “agn x 2” and still got a few letters. FULL call sign only. Remember they are not in your head. They are looking for a logical call sign to write down or type in.
    2. The standard activator call is “CQ” “P(S)OTA” “CALL SIGN” No need for “DE” or “WE” :) and certainly no need to send CQ forty two times and your call sign 6 times. Especially in SOTA! The entire US can hear you and they are sitting at a computer knowing your call sign and location waiting for you to finish a ridiculous long CQ. You’re not DXing for some remote station in Taneshyia. CQ, POTA, CALL.
    3. DO NOT send “K” at the end. New operators (myself included) have horrible timing and will many times rush the “K” at the end. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been confused by the “end with K guys”.
I think I have it “AG4AK” but something was off so I send “AG4AK?” and then with their poor timing they send. “AG4A KAG4AK” And we have a train wreck on our hands and I’m lost.
