    I have the same scope for some time. It is a small, light and powerful scope. Great for moon and planets. Never tested it in deep sky because I don't have eq mount yet but your pics persuaded me to go get an eq mount and use this scope in deep sky. But for moon and planets you can't go wrong with this scope. Great value for money.

    Very cool to see some terrestrial and deep sky footage with this. I bought the same OTA (Celestron 127 SLT) a couple years ago strictly as a visual planetary scope before I even thought about astrophotography.
    I was really pleased to find out that the 127mm Mak is really an excellent scope for getting into lunar and planetary imaging. I bought an asi662mc and asiair plus a couple months ago, but have only had two clear nights to start learning!

      Necroposting here, but just wondering if you've taken long exposure photos of planets with this scope, and if you'd be willing to share what they came out looking like? Looking at starting off my journey with this scope and really hoping to get some nice images of our solar system if I leave them for 1-3 hour sessions.

    • @40Sec
      @40Sec 8 месяцев назад

      @@zekyu8474 - Hi, you wouldn't want to do long exposure imaging when doing planetary. What we generally aim to do is take high framerate videos (often above 100fps) and then stack those frames together while using software to reject frames where the atmosphere blurs the image. The asi662mc is a great camera for this scope for lunar and planetary as it matches the focal ratio well. I believe it recently saw a significant drop in price.

    Ce telescop îmi recomanzi între acesta și Bresser Messier 127/1900 mm? Contează să ai focala mai mare? Am acum un Omegon 90/1000 mm și aș vrea să am zoom mai mare de 100 pentru observații terestre.

    • @GalaxyArtMedia
      @GalaxyArtMedia  Год назад +1

      Salut, Bresser nu pot recomanda pentru ca nu am avut niciodata, Skywatcher skymax 127 pot spune ca este un telescop bun, focala mare ai nevoie si la planete sau cratere, cu ajutorul unui barlow poti schimba distanta focala poti avea din 1500 2250mm 3000mm 4500mm, 3600mm sau mai mult, ocualrele in functie de magnificare vor mari mai mult sau mai putin. Folosind skymax127/1500 fara barlow cu un ocular de 5 mm mi-a dat o marire mare de 300x ceea ce vizual mi-a oferit niste observatii maid etaliate a craterelor luanre, sau o vedere mai apropiata a planetei jupiter, Saturn sau Marte. Conteaza si focala dar si diametrul telescopului. cu 5 inch vei avea rezultate mai bune decat un refractor ieftin de 90mm la aceeasi dsitanta focala

    • @SixStringsCovers
      @SixStringsCovers Год назад

      @@GalaxyArtMedia Cineva mi-a spus că nu trebuie sa fie diferență prea mare intre focala și apertură. La 127/1900 deja e prea mare... Apoi am găsit și acest telescop de 127/1500 și e cam ce îmi trebuie în bugetul care îl am acum. Ca sa ajung la zoom de 125 îmi trebuie ocular de 12 mm? De exemplu cu Omegon 90/1000 cu ocular zoom de 8-24 mm se vedea clar și corect doar cu 24 și 15,mai jos se întuneca imaginea și nu mai era clară.
      Eu as vrea mai mult pentru observații terestre și vreau să conectez și un DSLR la el, am reușit cu o aplicație și inel T2 doar că nu scoteam pozele focalizate asa de bine.
      Vreau sa pot vedea mai clar și la distanta de 8-10 km cu el.

    • @GalaxyArtMedia
      @GalaxyArtMedia  Год назад +1

      1900 nu e asa luminos ca la 1500 recomand telescopul meu 127/1500. Cu un ocular de 10 mm iti da 150x magnificare imparti distanta focala a telescopului cu cea a telescopului. Vizibilitatea in timpul zilei va decide cat de departe vezi mai mult decat telescopul.daca ai multa turbulenta de la aer cald poti vedea clar doar cativa km. Cu cat e mai mare magnificarea ocularului va fi si mai neclar daca nu ai vizibilitate buna

    • @SixStringsCovers
      @SixStringsCovers Год назад

      @@GalaxyArtMedia Mersi de informații. Se poate trece și de zoom de 125x pe timpul zilei sau doar noaptea? Știu că după 100x se cam întuneca imaginea și nu mai e clar probabil din cauza atmosferei, dar cred că și ocularul contează mult sa fie de calitate. Cer senin și ție și numai bine.

I used it also with my Star adventurer 2i for planetary and lunar, it works great. On a tripod you can observe the planets but they will move and hard to keep them in the field of view for a longer time.

    Thanks for your video which is indeed very useful. In fact, I have been very considering and struggling whether Skymax 102 or 127 will be more suitable to me, since I need to strike the balance between the portability and performance. Will 102 still be able to see some brighter cluster or nebula by eyes? That seems to be my concern at this moment. I think most of the time the telescope will be used in my balcony but not very likely in the mountain. By the way, photoing is not the main purpose.

    • @GalaxyArtMedia
      @GalaxyArtMedia  3 года назад

      Glad it was helpful! Will not be a noticeable difference on observing deep sky objects since the focal ratio is similar. if you want to use for planetary captures the 127 has an advantage because of the bigger aperture, but you can capture the planets also with the 102. i got some ncie results using a 400mm newtonian, the heritage 100 so the skymax 102 shrould perform ok. If you want brighter views you can go with the Heritage100 Newtonian since is much brighter at f/4 and seems it does not need collimation often, because of the fixed priamry mirror, i went about 20 nights out and the collimation is still perfect, however it needs a barlow to focus with a dslr camera. Doresc sa cumpar Mak127 insa nu pt foto pt ca nu detin un DSLR. Cu un smartphone mai capabil se poate scoate ceva cat de cat calitativ cu un adaptor special? Sunt inca in dublii daca sa cumpar acest telescop sau SW 80ED APO! Merci :)

      Salut. Ai nevoie de oculare pt a putea observa. Un Barlow e f bun ca iti poate da diferite distante focale mai mari. Poti obtine rezultate bune si cu telefonul la luna. Maksutov Skymax127 este putin mai bun pt planete si cratere. Asta daca duci ed 80 la aceeasi diatanta focala altfel la 1500mm este mult mai bun decat ed80 la 600. Amandoua se pot folosi si pe monturi mai mici chiar si pe un star tracker cum e star adventurer. Cu un star adventurer un maksutov si o camera planetara ieftina cum este sv305 pe la 150 $ si un barlow ieftin dar de calitate cum e baader q turet modular barlow 2.25 inch poti obtine niste rezultate f bune la planete si luna. Glad it was helpful! I started multi star guiding recently, it helps alot if you have clouds, in rest i kept the same settings, what i noticed is balancing is very important,if i did not balanced very good in other nights in declination, i had higher error arc sec per pixel, however i noticed in about 10-20 min it does stabilize and goes lower when this happen. I also used dithering with APT and PHD2. You can check my other videos where i show more the phd guiding will share the link, like he one with my rc 6 inch telescope or with the horsehead nebula: ruclips.net/video/Djd67Qsq_WE/видео.html

      @oskarinikkinen102 3 года назад +1

      @@GalaxyArtMedia I did watch that video and i have very similar problems as you had in that one, just much worse as my scope is heavier. My scope is also much longer as it is a newtonian which makes balancing almost impossible, there are different balancing positions for different positions in the sky. My best nights have looked like yours for a little while, but most of the time it is not that good.
      I also imaged at very cold temperatures of down to -25c that the mount did not like, the guiding performance back then was not good at all and it was difficult to point to a single error, mostly everything looked wrong and balancing was impossible. I recently dismantled my mount and found the lubricant to be almost glue-like. Im not sure if this is a problem many people have, but people in colder climates certainly should relubricate their mounts. The mount is probably not an optimal choice for OTA:s like mine.

      @@GalaxyArtMedia Yes, EQM-35PRO. It is a surprisingly good mount for its price, i only noticed issues after diving deeper into astrophotography, for visual it is completely fine. I did not know the difference in stated max payload and actual imaging payload while buying the mount and believed any 10kg telescope will do, of course i found out that it can work but probably will not. I think one directional DEC guiding could improve my situtation as balancing and stability is a significant issue, but looking at your video it might be an issue that arises only above around 7 kg or with long tubes like newtonians.

No chromatic aberration is high focal length but you can use also reducers if you want with the compromise of cropping after if you use with a dslr camera.
