I'm from Chitral, the northern-most district of Pakistan. It makes me sad how people don't understand that we can't eat money. Climate change and the GLOFs(floods) are nothing short of an apocalypse for us(people living in the north).
Ataabaad lake is a result of on such disaster and I can't believe people have stooped so low as to monetize on the plight of fellow humans. Your big luxury hotels are causing these floods and you're shamelessly advertising another one here. Such developments in the fragile ecology of the north are not developments but an invitation to more floods. I'm appalled
How is developing a hotel a major reason for floods? Not building enough dams to manage water, use of CFC's abundantly without any check, mismanaging your irrigation system are the real reasons of massive floods across the north

What an intellectual guy, starting mein mujhe laga k pure businessman hai jo justify karna chah rha hai 30k-40k per night ka room per later when he started talking I got hooked in the podcast. Guys like Shan are really doing great for Pakistan on so many fronts.

Half of the k2 mountain is in china and some climbers have even tried climbing from Chinese side.
K2 basecamp trek could be done in 11 days, I did it in 2021. These 11 days includes 2 rests days as well.
How much that cost you?
One thing i dont understand about these hosts is they genuinely seem either drained or just not interested enough in the conversations. Literally all of them have this "boring" vibe or energy that one cant just seem to shake off

I was searching how to go to skardu from karachi till today, imagine there is no proper bus service from karachi to skardu excpet natco which is pathetic service, one has to go to pindi and then take faisal movers to skardu. approx 40 hours of trip once side just to reach there.
That is a real value addition that you pay a close attention to environmental littering wrappers packing etc ... and establish an early on recycling and waste management setup the ... environment is a capital preserve it all the time that is an asset ...

Great podcast. I have not seen much of Northern Pakistan even though I was born and bred there and lived most of my life here.
I have been out of there for a decade and not mentally ready to go back for tourism in Pakistan.
The news we get here makes us feel Pakistan is not family friendly or terrorism free.
I would rather take my family to a nice , secure destination in Switzerland , Italy or Spain or someplace else

we have a long way to go to fully realize the potential of northern areas. Basic infrastructure doesnt exist at all. I went on K-2 basecamp trek and something I realized on my way back was that if anything were to happen to you on the trek and you need medical support then guess what - pak army is the only option and they charge upwards of $20,000 to airlift you from the trek and get to the nearest hospital. Seriously?? what if the person isn't a foreigner and can't afford to pay that much? how do you expect to make money from K-2 basecamp trek? Yes daring people still go there but then people like those are few in numbers i.e. less tourist = less money

i have 3 years of marketing experience in oman i sold chinese brand to that extend that were not that much capable so for sales guy its easy.i would say only in pakistan people are saving money for their next 100 generation and insecure about next month and they dont believe on Allah that if Allah is feeding them now he will feed there next generation if that generation will understand then every single penny will he spend on market and proverty will reduce by 100 percent. for pakistan i would like to promote pakistan overseas because western people dont save money they spend on themself even they dont even spend on their own kids how much they will save money for their next 100 generation.we will understand that mechanism then everyone will be happy .main thing is to rotation of money if you will bring your money into business or spending some people will get benefits despite keeping money in the lock and deprive people from their basic facilities
