I think a lot of people are forgetting Spider-Man and Venom teaming up has happened so many times, even as early as the 90’s they joined together to stop Carnage, I think a film depicting them fighting for the first half and then teaming up for the second half is a fine way to adapt their relationship into a movie form, but I do understand that having them joining forces should’ve probably taken several films, but we just don’t have time for that before Secret Wars

Scorpion kills off all the OTHER Spider-Man villains, establishes the then NEW villain (Kingpin), AND gives Spider-Man his symbiote suit.
As a fan of Cates, I think Knull is a big enough villain to be set up as *THE BIG BAD* for an Avengers film. He's a big enough threat to the universe, not just Spider-man. If Sony wasn't Sony and Marvel had the Spider-man rights, I would have loved to see an Avengers: King in Black film, mostly because it cements Eddie's character arc.
Well sure but I don’t really like when they go rogue and try to re-write stories from the comics. They either really mess them up or make it such a pointless event. That was my problem with Age of Ultron. Avengers have never fought Knull lmao…hell! They don’t even know about Venom! 😂

Spidey and venom teaming up is honestly more fitting tbh. Especially since this is lethal protector era venom, he more so has a natural relationship with spidey. He still hates Pete’s guts but reluctantly teams up with him when needed. Though even then, I’m not a fan of the direction Sony is going. R.I.P to A street level story if the rumors are true
A street-level Spider-Man movie set during the Multiverse Saga, which culminates in Secret Wars and the rebooting of the multiverse, doesn’t seem like a natural fit. The grounded, local focus of Spider-Man contrasts with the vast, universe-spanning stakes of the larger storyline.

Spiderman and Venom teamed up in together in Absolute Carnage. Which Knull appeared in that story. Venom isn't the old school villain he used to be. Eddie got a son and he changed. His relationship with Spiderman is more like Goku and Vegeta during the Nameka saga.

Honestly, I'm in the minority of people who don't actually mind this story shift since Spider-Man and Venom was something I was hoping would happen for a long time now. I figured that even though it's not as grounded as we would've hoped, this new plot doesn't necessarily mean it won't have street level plot elements that organically build upon what NWH set up which was my main concern. I didn't want this to be a retread of what NWH did, and since it might not be Battleworld given what Alex P also said on his twitter, I don't personally feel like this pushes things too far. I can't help but wonder how people will feel once Last Dance releases so we'll just have to see if people's impressions change later down the line. (Also Spider-Man and Venom is a pretty standard team up in the comics so it isn't just a random thing Sony pulled out.)
@gamesforted you are exactly right, I think they can add street level elements with spidey and venom stopping a small robbery together with spider man trying to stop venom from eating the guys head, and venom arguing with him, they could also have Peter go through a character arc where he is feeling so alone after no way home and once venom comes into his life it could make him less sad because he will be able to have friend that understands him and the trauma that he faces

I thinks it's fine that Tom's spiderman isn't a street level Spidey, tbf, homecoming was a street level movie, and far from home was kinda a street level movie, I don't mind the multiverse elements, simply, because venom/spiderman multiverse stories are genuinely incredible, if done right

It’s just cuz we could’ve got a street level movie where there isn’t any super advanced tech or things like that and they could also bring other street level heroes/villains. Just imagine a simple street level movie where Daredevil and SM team up to take down Kingpin. We could get the introduction of Miles volunteering at FEAST and maybe even Black Cat. But I do agree that they could make an appealing multiverse film with Venom if done right

This could be the comic book issue where Eddie and venom fight Knull but then end up having to sacrifice himself in fire in order to sever the connection that Knoll has to them and where they are… but Eddie and venom connect later on down the road. I hope this is where they’re heading because it would be awesome later on to see Spider-Man. Give Eddie his venom back in a Multiverse situation.

Highly recommend Comicstorians RUclips channel to catch up on Knull. He has the whole story as one video and does an amazing job voicing everyone. He unfortunately passed away recently but he’d love to know people are still using his channel to learn more about comics.

I don't buy Knull being the villain in spider-man 4, venom 3 has been in post production for a long while and you can't tell me it's been a lead up to spider-man 4 all this time when discussions about the plot of spider-man 4 were still happening

Any "leaks" saying it are just making it up because there's literally not even a finished script. At best, AT BEST, Sony told Disney "we want this" and Disney said "no". That's it. It's NEVER gonna happen.
Here's what I can see happening: The Last Dance means the Venom symbiote in the Sony Universe is going to die. The "sacrifice" the trailer talks about is the symbiote somehow transporting Eddie to the MCU to save him from Knull while sacrificing itself. Meanwhile, the MCU universe symbiote finds Peter, and we get some symbiote Spider-Man for part of the movie. Knull tracks down the MCU symbiote. Peter eventually rejects it, Eddie gets it back, there's a fight, and the team-up happens when Knull's forces appear. The symbiote shares a hive mind so it will soon turn into roughly the same Venom personality from the Sonyverse, but now with the Peter Parker/Spider-Man influence. Spider-Man 4 will be part street-level that ends in a cosmic level, and sets up Spider-Man 5. Street level first half could still be Daredevil and Spidey, but it would be symbiote Spidey until Eddie shows up.

personally, i feel like they’ve set tom holland’s spider-man up this way because he isn’t strong/deep enough to carry his own street level story. it was a mistake adding him to civil war and immediately giving him the avengers treatment in my opinion.

I am willing to wait for the street level story for now because this is the perfect time to do this before the multiverse saga is over. Would be awesome if they could also pull in the Spot and the across the spider-verse characters somewhere

Everytime I am reminded of what we lost with the original SM4 script, i die a little. What story relevance would a fucking Spider-Man/SSU Venom crossover have? Cris I get that you’re saying Spider-Man and Venom shouldn’t team up to stop Knull. But one time in the comics, they had to team up and stop Carnage during the Maximum Carnage arc. I would argue and say that the only “street level” Spider-Man movie we had was the first one, ‘Homecoming.’ However, I understand your frustration and I agree with you.
You know what? If they get Knull involved, I think I may actually be ok with Spider-Man 4 being a Multiverse movie. Also, after the whole Marvel's Spider-Man 2 fiasco, I'm glad to see that at least Donny Cates (even if not Ryan Stegman) is being involved with a project that includes his work in it.

god the potential of our 3 spidermen fighting Knull alongside Venom sounds like the most apeshit fanfiction you could possibly imagine but they already made NWH and that whole plot was done to absolutely NEAR perfection. It actually makes me more on board with the change from a street level story to another multiversal story and I kinda hate that I do bcuz it just tells you that Sony is once again winning when everything would genuinely be so much more easier if Disney/Marvel had the full rights to spidey. But alas, this is what we’re gonna have to work with and I’ll happily get excited for it if it does come to fruition.

Honestly, a Spider-Man/Venom: Friend or Foe type team up movie sounds cool. I've always been a Venom stan, especially when he's pitted against Spider-Man. They've got crazy chemistry, which is why I really appreciated it when they set their differences aside and teamed up for the greater good. Even eventually becoming equals to one another, able to understand each other. There are even times like in Venom War when Venom seeked him out for help, especially when it came to the world of symbiotes. Peter understands that Venom is only acting in its nature, what he's learned from host to host. I like that he's able to give Venom a chance to be a hero, which is totally fine in my opinion. I'm not saying they can do it now with the time given, but I can visualize what this could be as a Marvel Team-Up one shot... gotta say, it's looking better than the Mighty Morbin' Spidey Slayers that Sony lined up.

In all honesty this could have some serious potential for a great movie. I don’t really mind the team up if it showcases some humor initially but later evolves into a clash of ideals as spidey would probably be more caution with their decision making where as venom would be more reckless because of the symbiote. Also it could lead to a badass 3rd act set piece where venom or maybe even spidey get consumed by the symbiote and nulls control over them sets up a classic spidey vs venom fight where one has to try and stop the other and help them snap out of it before eventually defeating null or at the very least preventing him from consuming the multiverse in some way 🤷🏻♂️. I feel like this would be a win for us “Spider-Man purists” as it would delve deep into why spidey in his purest and most relatable form is the hero we love and keeps his ideals close to his heart even tho the emotional turmoil that comes with the responsibility he’s decided to carry. Also black suit spidey and venom mowing down an army of symbiotes would be cool cuz Eddie would start to see Peter spiraling because of no way home trauma and in a twist has to become the hero that has to talk him off the edge. Just some thoughts but that’s how I’d pitch it to Marvel and Sony.

I have a feeling if they team up, that Eddie will actually learn to hate Peter, and thats where we’ll get they’re truer sides, but the Symbiote is something that brings them together, and maybe even have Venom like Spiderman as a host more, but feels like he should be with Eddie because of the relationship they have

Knull likely won’t play a major role in Venom 3 given the amount already happening in the film. The brief footage of him in the trailer will probably be part of a post-credits scene, where he delivers a line similar to Thanos' iconic "Fine, I’ll do it myself" from The Avengers.
Knull should be casted similarly to Thanos, with multiple movies/cameos. As a Multiversal threat, Knull scales higher than Galactus and Thanos. Please, Sony, DO KNULL JUSTICE! Also, it makes perfect sense not having Spider-man 4 being a "street-level" film solely on its ties with the upcoming Avengers'. Sony may actually be cooking up something here!

Having them team up this early would be a terrible idea as it would cement the fact that symbiotes are dangerous and that he should not bond with it meaning that we would not see MCU Spider-Man don the black suit, and if he does the symbiote storyline would be incredibly skewed and I find very unlike that they would be able to retroactively make so Peter dons the suit even though he has seen how dangerous it can be, its just an extremely convoluted situation Sony are trying to put themselves in

I won’t lie, I’m actually excited to see a Spider-Man and Venom team up movie, as much as I wanted that street level movie and still really do want it, I won’t lie and say it won’t be exciting to see a Spider-Man and Venom team up, but I kind of wish Sony could hold off on Knull and work with Marvel to make him a Avengers Level threat, and basically make him a big bad of an Avengers movie, but that’s very unlikely and I doubt Sony would do that
Even though we all would have liked a street level movie, let’s be honest this is the next best thing, and you never know if they’ll do a street level film later, or have a bit of that in Spider-Man 4 in the beginning, like Across the Spider-Verse. I’m not so sure about bringing the two other Spider-Men into it, I feel they should save that for a bigger project like Secret Wars, but other than that, it sounds kinda cool in my opinion, and by the looks of things, Knull is gonna be a BADASS, the only thing I’m annoyed about is that this would have been better later down the line, but that’s just Sony, but other than that currently…. I’m kinda hyped 😅 (Also I find it funny how they can just get every character involved in Secret Wars and current projects thanks to the Multiverse, you just know Sony’s eyes lit up there 😂)

I really don’t care if they do a multiverse story again. There’s going to be more movies and opportunities for a street level film. I would take a multiversal venom & spiderman movie over a street level movie any day.

Between the No Way Home ending and Secret Wars coming up, Sony/Marvel have the PERFECT set up for a comic accurate Venom/Spidey story line and they’re gonna fumble the hell out of it. For what??? The team up is significantly less impactful if they just randomly meet up and fight knull. At least give us 1 movie to form a relationship between the 2 characters. We’ve all been waiting since 2007 to see Venom properly adapted to a spidey film.

Eddie Brock’s venom stopped being a spider-man “villain” in the 90’s. Sure they fight. But they’ve teamed up more than a time or 2. Mac Gargan venom was far more villainous. Eddie/venom just has a problem with Peter Parker. Once he acknowledges that Spiderman fights for the innocent, they call a truce and roll right into Lethal Protector

I think a lot of people are forgetting Spider-Man and Venom teaming up has happened so many times, even as early as the 90’s they joined together to stop Carnage, I think a film depicting them fighting for the first half and then teaming up for the second half is a fine way to adapt their relationship into a movie form, but I do understand that having them joining forces should’ve probably taken several films, but we just don’t have time for that before Secret Wars

Near the middle of the film (after DOOMSDAY), they all go into the Void, where the symbiote attaches itself to Scorpion. Vulture helps Spider-Man against VenomScorpion, where Spider-Man… vulture … scorpion DIE. The symbiote revives Spider-Man for SECRET WARS.
Scorpion kills off all the OTHER Spider-Man villains, establishes the then NEW villain (Kingpin), AND gives Spider-Man his symbiote suit.
As a fan of Cates, I think Knull is a big enough villain to be set up as *THE BIG BAD* for an Avengers film. He's a big enough threat to the universe, not just Spider-man. If Sony wasn't Sony and Marvel had the Spider-man rights, I would have loved to see an Avengers: King in Black film, mostly because it cements Eddie's character arc.
They just said the next mcu saga would be the supernatural saga, so knull would be a perfect big bad for that

Spiderman and Venom teamed up in together in Absolute Carnage. Which Knull appeared in that story. Venom isn't the old school villain he used to be. Eddie got a son and he changed. His relationship with Spiderman is more like Goku and Vegeta during the Nameka saga.

Honestly, I'm in the minority of people who don't actually mind this story shift since Spider-Man and Venom was something I was hoping would happen for a long time now. I figured that even though it's not as grounded as we would've hoped, this new plot doesn't necessarily mean it won't have street level plot elements that organically build upon what NWH set up which was my main concern. I didn't want this to be a retread of what NWH did, and since it might not be Battleworld given what Alex P also said on his twitter, I don't personally feel like this pushes things too far. I can't help but wonder how people will feel once Last Dance releases so we'll just have to see if people's impressions change later down the line.
(Also Spider-Man and Venom is a pretty standard team up in the comics so it isn't just a random thing Sony pulled out.)

@gamesforted you are exactly right, I think they can add street level elements with spidey and venom stopping a small robbery together with spider man trying to stop venom from eating the guys head, and venom arguing with him, they could also have Peter go through a character arc where he is feeling so alone after no way home and once venom comes into his life it could make him less sad because he will be able to have friend that understands him and the trauma that he faces

It’s just cuz we could’ve got a street level movie where there isn’t any super advanced tech or things like that and they could also bring other street level heroes/villains. Just imagine a simple street level movie where Daredevil and SM team up to take down Kingpin. We could get the introduction of Miles volunteering at FEAST and maybe even Black Cat. But I do agree that they could make an appealing multiverse film with Venom if done right

Cris is a Spider-man fan in terms of films only, garunteed he has not read a mainline Spider-man comic ever.
This could be the comic book issue where Eddie and venom fight Knull but then end up having to sacrifice himself in fire in order to sever the connection that Knoll has to them and where they are… but Eddie and venom connect later on down the road. I hope this is where they’re heading because it would be awesome later on to see Spider-Man. Give Eddie his venom back in a Multiverse situation.

Highly recommend Comicstorians RUclips channel to catch up on Knull. He has the whole story as one video and does an amazing job voicing everyone. He unfortunately passed away recently but he’d love to know people are still using his channel to learn more about comics.

Any "leaks" saying it are just making it up because there's literally not even a finished script. At best, AT BEST, Sony told Disney "we want this" and Disney said "no". That's it. It's NEVER gonna happen.
Here's what I can see happening:
The Last Dance means the Venom symbiote in the Sony Universe is going to die. The "sacrifice" the trailer talks about is the symbiote somehow transporting Eddie to the MCU to save him from Knull while sacrificing itself.
Meanwhile, the MCU universe symbiote finds Peter, and we get some symbiote Spider-Man for part of the movie. Knull tracks down the MCU symbiote. Peter eventually rejects it, Eddie gets it back, there's a fight, and the team-up happens when Knull's forces appear. The symbiote shares a hive mind so it will soon turn into roughly the same Venom personality from the Sonyverse, but now with the Peter Parker/Spider-Man influence.
Spider-Man 4 will be part street-level that ends in a cosmic level, and sets up Spider-Man 5. Street level first half could still be Daredevil and Spidey, but it would be symbiote Spidey until Eddie shows up.

Everytime I am reminded of what we lost with the original SM4 script, i die a little. What story relevance would a fucking Spider-Man/SSU Venom crossover have? You do this and you immediately evaporate an incredible trilogy-long symbiote story, ending with MCU's version of a genuine evil Venom going against Peter.

Cris I get that you’re saying Spider-Man and Venom shouldn’t team up to stop Knull. But one time in the comics, they had to team up and stop Carnage during the Maximum Carnage arc. They do still fight a few times during this arc. It would be nice to see them adapt that except with Knull taking Carnage’s place

god the potential of our 3 spidermen fighting Knull alongside Venom sounds like the most apeshit fanfiction you could possibly imagine but they already made NWH and that whole plot was done to absolutely NEAR perfection. It actually makes me more on board with the change from a street level story to another multiversal story and I kinda hate that I do bcuz it just tells you that Sony is once again winning when everything would genuinely be so much more easier if Disney/Marvel had the full rights to spidey. Honestly, a Spider-Man/Venom: Friend or Foe type team up movie sounds cool. I've always been a Venom stan, especially when he's pitted against Spider-Man. They've got crazy chemistry, which is why I really appreciated it when they set their differences aside and teamed up for the greater good. Even eventually becoming equals to one another, able to understand each other. There are even times like in Venom War when Venom seeked him out for help, especially when it came to the world of symbiotes. Peter understands that Venom is only acting in its nature, what he's learned from host to host. I like that he's able to give Venom a chance to be a hero, which is totally fine in my opinion. I'm not saying they can do it now with the time given, but I can visualize what this could be as a Marvel Team-Up one shot... gotta say, it's looking better than the Mighty Morbin' Spidey Slayers that Sony lined up.

In all honesty this could have some serious potential for a great movie. I don’t really mind the team up if it showcases some humor initially but later evolves into a clash of ideals as spidey would probably be more caution with their decision making where as venom would be more reckless because of the symbiote. Also it could lead to a badass 3rd act set piece where venom or maybe even spidey get consumed by the symbiote and nulls control over them sets up a classic spidey vs venom fight where one has to try and stop the other and help them snap out of it before eventually defeating null or at the very least preventing him from consuming the multiverse in some way 🤷🏻♂️. I feel like this would be a win for us “Spider-Man purists” as it would delve deep into why spidey in his purest and most relatable form is the hero we love and keeps his ideals close to his heart even tho the emotional turmoil that comes with the responsibility he’s decided to carry. Also black suit spidey and venom mowing down an army of symbiotes would be cool cuz Eddie would start to see Peter spiraling because of no way home trauma and in a twist has to become the hero that has to talk him off the edge. Just some thoughts but that’s how I’d pitch it to Marvel and Sony.

I have a feeling if they team up, that Eddie will actually learn to hate Peter, and thats where we’ll get they’re truer sides, but the Symbiote is something that brings them together, and maybe even have Venom like Spiderman as a host more, but feels like he should be with Eddie because of the relationship they have

Knull likely won’t play a major role in Venom 3 given the amount already happening in the film. The brief footage of him in the trailer will probably be part of a post-credits scene, where he delivers a line similar to Thanos' iconic "Fine, I’ll do it myself" from The Avengers.
Knull should be casted similarly to Thanos, with multiple movies/cameos. As a Multiversal threat, Knull scales higher than Galactus and Thanos. Please, Sony, DO KNULL JUSTICE! Also, it makes perfect sense not having Spider-man 4 being a "street-level" film solely on its ties with the upcoming Avengers'. Sony may actually be cooking up something here!

They have the universe set up to be cosmic/ multi verse. We’ve 5 steet level spider movies. I think especially with secret wars coming up, knull/ venom battle world movie would be amazingly spectacular.
This would suck, it would ruin the ending to venoms trilogy with a cliffhanger that will be payed off in a movie that’s not a venom one, but it also ruins the start of Spider-Man’s new trilogy with it being a multiverse movie

Having them team up this early would be a terrible idea as it would cement the fact that symbiotes are dangerous and that he should not bond with it meaning that we would not see MCU Spider-Man don the black suit, and if he does the symbiote storyline would be incredibly skewed and I find very unlike that they would be able to retroactively make so Peter dons the suit even though he has seen how dangerous it can be, its just an extremely convoluted situation Sony are trying to put themselves in
I think that since venoms world is going to be destroyed if they both stay there as one then maybe they might merge or go into the mcu so that they can stay together and that their old world could still survive. idk that's just an idea from me that would be cool.
I won’t lie, I’m actually excited to see a Spider-Man and Venom team up movie, as much as I wanted that street level movie and still really do want it, I won’t lie and say it won’t be exciting to see a Spider-Man and Venom team up, but I kind of wish Sony could hold off on Knull and work with Marvel to make him a Avengers Level threat, and basically make him a big bad of an Avengers movie, but that’s very unlikely and I doubt Sony would do that

Even though we all would have liked a street level movie, let’s be honest this is the next best thing, and you never know if they’ll do a street level film later, or have a bit of that in Spider-Man 4 in the beginning, like Across the Spider-Verse.
I’m not so sure about bringing the two other Spider-Men into it, I feel they should save that for a bigger project like Secret Wars, but other than that, it sounds kinda cool in my opinion, and by the looks of things, Knull is gonna be a BADASS, the only thing I’m annoyed about is that this would have been better later down the line, but that’s just Sony, but other than that currently….

Between the No Way Home ending and Secret Wars coming up, Sony/Marvel have the PERFECT set up for a comic accurate Venom/Spidey story line and they’re gonna fumble the hell out of it. For what??? The team up is significantly less impactful if they just randomly meet up and fight knull. At least give us 1 movie to form a relationship between the 2 characters. Eddie/venom just has a problem with Peter Parker. Once he acknowledges that Spiderman fights for the innocent, they call a truce and roll right into Lethal Protector
