Totally agree! What has impressed me most with the Plus4 is the dimensional accuracy, high precision, and lack of VFA. I was able to do print in place bearings all the way down to 0.02mm clearance and have them come off the build plate not fused. I even did 0.01mm and with a little work breaking apart they spun. Also seriously on the VFA. Find a print with a lot of flat facets like a low poly animal and print it from the same filament on the Plus4 and any Bambu and compare the artifacts. The Plus4 has possibly the least I have seen from any stock printer. Maybe some Prusamachines and the Bambu Lab A1 and A1 Mini come close. This machine had teething issues, but it is seriously solid and nothing on the market matches the capability for the money. It handles any consumer filament you throw at it and people on the Disk-chord have demonstrated that many times over. Most of the small issues it had at launch are well ironed out. The funniest part about people thinking it is a Bambu Lab clone or that Qidi was a cheap low quality brand is that Qidi was making enclosed, core XY, full metal frame, corner supported bed, high temperature printers for years before Bambu Lab existed. Large size and heated chamber not new for them either. Nice overview! That Halo map print is super impressive. I'm hoping the Max4 or whatever it's called will be near perfect at launch. I hope in the next video you will dig in deep on the quality as the layer stacking and clean surfaces from this printer are fantastic.
Excellent comment here. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. I’m stoked about this machine and look forward to diving a little deeper in the next video
What I like the most of this machine is it's really fun to work with. I bought Two in December and they are both working perfectly and I'm going to buy two more in the coming weeks. oh and this machine is built really solid.
Congrats on getting your first sample review printer a truly big milestone for your channel. You did an excellent job on this review and I loved your unboxing and review model selection. One of my co-workers got the Qidi Plus4 and loves it. I can't see what you do with it next.
I have this printer for about a month. Nothing but excellent prints with just one push of a button… seriously never had a bad print from start to finish. Love this thing.
Same, I was about to pull the trigger on a p1s combo, but I'm seriously considering this, I don't need multi color, and qidi may release a multicolor box in the future. I like all the reviews about ABS and ASA performance, as that is alot of what I want to print with.
Yep. I had just ordered my A1 the day before BL announced their little “security update”. I canceled my order with BL and found a couple hundred more dollars to go with the Plus 4. It’s supposed to get here tomorrow morning. Can’t wait.
I just ordered one last night. I have an A1 Mini & a P1S, but I needed (ok perhaps wanted) a printer that could handle more advanced materials like nylon, pps, etc., so a higher temp hot end & heated chamber. I was also concerned with all the tariff talk that the price might skyrocket and that it simply wouldn't be available any longer. Thanks for the tip on filament being unconstrained near the fil sensor in the toolhead. Keep up the great content!
This thing really does seem like an upgraded P1S. I got a P1S during the Black Friday sale and I love the darn thing. If I ever manage to get good enough at designing prints to open a shop, I'll definitely remember this thing as an option. Looking forward to your part 2 video!
Congratulations on getting the printer! Could you please do a follow up kind of review after 800-1000 print hours on this machine? I'm really curious about the long term experience. My friends in China has experienced unstable Z offset issues, some of them decide to just lock the Z.
@@KeoPrints I have a Bambu Lab P1S combo now and was going to order 2 more but it appeared there was going to be a relatively long wait for the order to be filled. The Plus 4 looks to be a contender and potentially a better option. Time will tell!
It’d be nice to see how it performs with large sized engineering prints with ASA or even PPS-CF. Also, how well it isolates VOCs and particles from the outside.
I will be looking into ASA and ABS performance as well as some nylon stuff for the next one at least. I would like to find a way to compare filtration across different machines as well
I'm happy with the QIDI printers. I have the max 3 and the Q1 pro. Customer service is great but they need to have better instructions for replacement parts, upgrades and repairs. They tend to use a lot of videos not clearly showing or explaining things. I have reminded them we are not all engineers we just want to print. Lol. Explain to them if you run into this and customer service will email you easy to follow instructions. They always get back to you and have a great client tracking system for issues. Hope this helps anyone considering. Cheers!
New to 3d printing and waiting on my first a Bambu Labs PS1, but already thinking of my future and been looking for a larger format bed. Your video has put this one on my list for the future.
Thanks for the review. Looking forward to your video seeing how it performs with the more technical filaments. I'm happy with my four A1s, but want a printer I can dedicate to things like nylon, polycarbonate and ASA. The new bambu coming out will likely be a contender but I'd rather not have to resort to selling feet pics online to afford one soooooo.....
Glad You are having a great experience with the Plus4, and I hope it continues to be a solid work horse for you. I have gotten some good prints off of mine, however after a few moths of use, I cannot recommend this printer. It has quite a few hidden, and not so hidden flaws. Loose bearings, a snag sensor that works, most of the time, but seems to really like to NOT work near the end of every other 20+ hour print. The filament sensor is off by default, and resets itself to "off" for some reason, and at the worst possible times. The Z offset, why oh dear why cant they get that right, It doesn't hold the same offset. I have learned that i need to increase the Z depending on build plate temp, that at least makes sense. And heat soaking the plate, that makes sense as well and seems to help keep it more consistent. What doesn't make sense it that for some reason, every once in a while, the Z offset is just all of a sudden all wrong. This requires verifying that the nozzle and plate are clean, nothing came loose, and finally running more test prints to get the "new" Z offset it likes. Then the latest issue, the Z offset just quit working all together, As in, it mashed the print down so hard, I had to use acetone to get the ASA off without ruining the bed. No big deal, just increase the offset by .05, then .1, then .15 then .2, then .4!!, and all ended the same way, first layer mashed down so hard i had to use acetone, then alcohol, then a new layer of glue/release agent. It has sat still for a week now after that last issue, I gave up on it, the urge to smash it to bits with a sledge hammer is still at the top of my list for the next reasonable thing to try to get it to print again. So i am waiting for that urge to recede a bit before i walk back to the thing and try to sort out whats wrong with it, this time. Seems there are many people having a great time with this printer, and I have gotten some decent prints off the thing. But for me, every print I do now brings anxiety over how it will fail next and how much more expensive filament I may have to throw away. I don't trust it at all with larger or multi part prints, I've thrown away hundereds of dollars worth of the really good, well dried name brand CF filaments because every time i think i've got it printing reliably, i start a nice long print of parts I need, it fails. And, so far, Qidi customer service has been quick to send a follow up email, but useless when it comes to sending out replacement parts, or offering anything in the way of tangible help. This printer is only 3 months old. I'm writing this as a warning to new buyers who, like i did, saw a few glowing you tube reviews like this one and jumped on the band wagon before seeking out any negative reviews. I have since found many others who, like me, are regretting ever hearing of the PLUS4. Im sure it can be a good printer, but I urge anyone thinking of spending this kind of money to look at all the reviews, positive and negative for this, as well as the handfull of other very similar printers in this price range.
Yikes! Thanks for sharing the experience for everyone else to draw from. I’m sorry you’re dealing with that and hope Qidi can get it sorted out but we do hear about these kinds of things happening. At any rate, I appreciate the feedback here so everyone can make an informed decision!
Thanks for sharing your experience. I have read about the Z offset issue. Also, I have read that changing the nozzle is problematic. Frankly, these days, I take the rave reviews with a grain of salt. I heard the disclaimer at the beginning, but I still wonder.
Im having constant issues when changing filaments and clogging between the nozzle and extruder. Lucky enought there is a small removable plate between which u can open and remove the stuck filament. But whyy does it get stuck there..? Im using the load and unload filament features on the printer... U have any suggestions?
The overhangs are impressive on the Hang em High map print. It would have been nice to see it printed in a filament with more texture and perhaps showing how the printer is able to pause, swap filament and purge. (I'm somewhat averse to shiny silk.) Lastly, the redundancy of instructions from the booklet, on-screen and rear panel are appreciated. ✌️
I totally get the apprehension with silks. They show every single little defect! Thats a nice thing about the matte filaments for sure. Covering all of my secret mistakes
If you do buy this machine make sure you check for the new chamber heater relay. I just bought one from Qidi and got one with the old board and had to email them and request the new board.
Questions: Is the SSR updated for 110v. Is the Heated Chamber impaired over 260/270 mm as the bed would cover the heater blower vent. Is the chamber accurately record and keep temp consistent from top to bottom of chamber, Lastly how level is the bed from the factory (any low spots)
Yes the relay board is updated as is the firmware, the chamber heater height issue was always exaggerated and is fixed in firmware and will essentially never cause a print failure, the chamber does keep temperature properly even if average temperature is slightly higher than displayed, and Plus4 beds have been consistently pretty low deviating and rarely have first layer issues.
I’m a bit torn on which I would get between the two printers. If I needed build volume or high temps, or if I wanted the extra scope to grow into those features, the Qidi is the winner for sure. If I was only printing things that could fit on the P1S out of PLA or PETG then I would probably stick with Bambu
@@KeoPrints Yeah and it comes down to wanting multi-color for a lot of people, which doesn't personally interest me. The Qidi Box is still supposed to be coming this quarter. If you don't want multi-color and want to save even more while having high end filament capabilities, the Q1 Pro has often been as little as $360 with discounts.
As someone looking to get back in 3D printing after my Prusa Mini+ broke down, this looks extremely similar to the Bambu Lab P1S, but with an added heated chamber. Am I missing something? Also, I was thinking of getting the P1S AMS combo, but the BS Bambu Lab has been pooling lately with the firmware lockdown made me look into alternatives, again. For the price and ease of use, this looks like the only alternative that comes close, but it doesn’t have an AMS-like option. The upcoming Anycubic Kobra S1 looks like the missing in-between. We’ll see. I wish they launched that with such an option available.
The multicolor is coming but it is a bummer that it isn’t available right now. Who knows what kind of kinks are going to need worked out. If it functions as well as this printer however, it will be good straight away
Well I didn’t dive into it at all for this review. Perhaps in the follow up I’ll take a look and discuss. I use Orca slicer and they had profiles for this machine so that was helpful
Question is.. is this one with the fire hazard overheating board fixed or not? That is an important point to remember or we easily start allowing huge safety issues to become allowable by manufacturers, and go back to a race to the bottom by simply omitting safety with cheap hardware. Being hidden behind a panel, you don't know the board is a problem until suddenly its on fire.
This was a bad deal for sure. As I understand it, they’ve gotten it sorted out and units no longer ship with that board but I’ll double check mine and update in the next video since I’ll be using that chamber heater extensively
@@802Garage Yet. There has been smoldering boards which thankfully were discovered. There wasn't fires with the Anet A8 at first either.. then there were homes lost.
Well I reached out to them to see if we could work something out so here’s to hoping. My first printer was a Flashforge so it would be cool to jump back in years later to see how far they’ve come
I still struggle to see why enclosed 3d printers insisted on using tempered glass panels anywhere. Its only benefit is scratch resistance, mean its also a big heatsink vs using acrylic panels and results in longer time for chambers to normalize temperature for when you want it heated, and a breakable item that is 100% unneeded to be made of glass.
I agree. The glass feels “premium” and quality and all of that garbage but really, if the door was plastic I would feel better about it. I’m always worried I am going to over extend the door opening and shatter it or something
EVERYONE complained about the plastic in Qidi reviews, so Qidi responded by giving glass. Now people will complain about glass. You can never please everyone.
Website says 370 for the hotend... 🤔 Also says that it's compatible with the QIDI box for multi color. I have no need for it, but I kinda want it. Great review! Thanks
Camera? compared P1S, is my biggest negative in my opinion on the P1S - Bambu has not figured out they need to support mods and upgrading, if they had a supported camera upgrade would have already bought one.
That’s a good question that I didn’t address. I’ll be sure to go more in depth when the chamber fan/heater is going in the next video. But printing normal PLA/PETG/TPU it’s no louder than my enclosed Bambu machines for example
That is a huge selling point for sure. The fact that this machine is fully enclosed and can print that hot with hardened components means it’s totally ready for the high demand engineering stuff. But even with just printing PLA and similar, I’m impressed with the value
Correct, but it handles all of those filaments fine. Siraya Tech 85A TPU prints work perfectly at high flow rates on mine. I just have to feed direct into the extruder rather than through the reverse Bowden.
@@KeoPrints Yeah I just add a small teflon tube tail on top of the extruder and feed into the top. I got up to around 13mm³/s flow rate with the 85A, but dialed it back to 11 just to have some margin. That's still plenty fast! Came out super clear too. If you try to feed TPU through the reverse Bowden there is a lot of friction. It should work with most 95A, but even some of those can be tricky.
I've got 6 of these printers, and they have been a nightmare. After working out the bugs, like, ya know, the thing melting and almost catching fire.. Yeah, now they work good. I was actually the one who got Qidi to issue a recall on these machines. They tried to sweep it under the rug. Not having it. Anyway, don't turn into a shill for a Chinese company that does not give a shit if your house burns down. Their behavior early on over this issue was absolutely reprehensible. I have ripped apart these printers to fix the SSR overheating, the grub screws falling out of the toolhead, the lower bearing on the toolhead coming loose, the loud and inadequate motherboard fan, and the wifi dongle. Honorable mentions to the huge spaghetti failures that ruined part cooling fans and the fact they just freeze up sometimes. I put hundreds more into my machines but don't fret, Qidi offered me $50 for my days of labor. They make dangerous products, they send you parts to fix their new machine and everyone cheers how great they are. FML. After spending $5k I feel... Stuck with them. I'm not even liking this video and it's not even your fault, sorry. Unlike. Also, you're gonna want to print the larger spool holder. The file is on the machine. I had a spool fall off on a print when I had the glass top off. The larger spool holder slips over the smaller one and locks on. Try out PCTG filament. "Polycyclohexylenedimethylene Terephthalate Glycol" Yeah, you like that?
Wow! Lots going on there. It sucks that you’ve had the worst experience with these suckers. I can only speak to my experience of course but this is information that everyone needs access to as well so I appreciate you sharing your experience. It’s important to paint the whole picture by drawing from one another like this
Unhinged comment. Who in their right mind buys 6 brand new products without testing them and then pitches a fit when they feel like they wasted money. Complaining about user error and stuff that is unable to be corroborated and even has a fit about unliking a video. Crazy stuff man, hope you get better soon
This printer is much larger, has a heated chamber, has a more capable hot end, has open source Klipper, and much more. No multi-color yet, but there is a reason it's still considered cheap compared to other options.
App, slicer, presets, inexpensive spare parts, stellar customer service... These things matter to me more than print volume and speed. Please make another video after logging 2000+ hours.
Qidi is known for having close to if not the best customer service in the consumer 3D printing space. They had a rough launch with this one, but it's ironed out now. They have sent out more free replacement parts with no questions asked than any company I've ever seen. Parts are available at good prices. You can use Qidi Studio which is a fork of Bambu Studio or just use Orca Slicer. Their presets are solid.
I'm sorry, old? It released a few months ago. Saying the prints are not that good is ludicrous considering this prints with cleaner with more precision and fewer VFA than the P1 or X1 series printers.
@@KeoPrints Not want to argue but in europe thats the price with the AMS about 810 euro vs 849 euro. Still i do agree given its release date its a good price but for many they do need to also proof/ship a ams like device.
That’s true. This can’t be measured by the promise of multicolor capabilities later down the line. As it stands right now, I am impressed with the specs for the price even without multicolor
@KeoPrints Yeah well what is great is that finally brands are catching up to bambulab but its been a few years now since the basic xy release they did. It will great to see the push this gives to them to make a better one and get a real innovation battle going and up the avg level of printing so finally what we print can become the thing not how we print.
$800 is absolutely not cheap. But if you are looking for a machine that prints hot with hardened components, you can look at the X1C for $1200 or try this out for $800. Except this prints hotter and has a larger build volume. Its just a good value if it suits your needs!
It’s a tough balance. I’ve been accused of doing the clickbait thing so I felt like transparency right on the front end might be good. Always working on improving something
Achievement unlocked. Receiving your first free review product must feel like validation for content creators. This is the first video I've watched from this channel and don't knock them for introducing it this way. It also tips me off that the rest of their video catalog is about printers they've bought and likely have an unbiased opinion. ✌️
What about the negatives. Test the heated chamber and the screws coming loose on the print head. I really want to buy this machine but I need to know that Qidi has really fixed the issues not just put a band aid on it. I wish somebody would really put it through it’s paces with the high temps.
@erich1159 These were issues from when the printer first launch. They are well ironed out now. Nobody has had a loose tool head in quite some time that I know of and the heated chamber issue is resolved. There are many people with hundreds and thousands of hours on the Plus4 already.
For the specs it’s cheap. This is X1C specs with a bigger build volume for hundreds less. Objectively 800 dollars is a lot of money. Especially when I don’t have any money…
I shall fight you. Nacho was not the best boy. He was the bestest boy
Dang. You got me. I submit to your comment and pin!

If you do buy this machine make sure you check for the new chamber heater relay. I just bought one from Qidi and got one with the old board and had to email them and request the new board.
Yes good point. Check out the @ModBotArmy video in the description for specifics. Be careful friends
Plus4 in the US official store is already equipped with the latest SSR. Please don't worry.
@ thank you, I been watching videos on the qidi 4 and trying to decide on P1S or Qidi 4
It's come down to this or wait it out for the Prusa Core One.🤔
Why wait, get both.
@anthonytuccillo9513 i just bought an MK3S+ then bought the 3.5 upgrade. I could have ordered a kit MK4S for the same cost. I am not smart. 🤪
@@RogerEssigArtist Yes, you're not smart enough.
@ ahh, who cares. i got a $4000 Christmas bonus. 🤑
I noticed you didn’t talk about slicer software at all. How is it?
Well I didn’t dive into it at all for this review. Perhaps in the follow up I’ll take a look and discuss. I use Orca slicer and they had profiles for this machine so that was helpful
@ thank you
Question is.. is this one with the fire hazard overheating board fixed or not? That is an important point to remember or we easily start allowing huge safety issues to become allowable by manufacturers, and go back to a race to the bottom by simply omitting safety with cheap hardware. Being hidden behind a panel, you don't know the board is a problem until suddenly its on fire.
Plus4 in the US official store is already equipped with the latest SSR. No fire risk.
This was a bad deal for sure. As I understand it, they’ve gotten it sorted out and units no longer ship with that board but I’ll double check mine and update in the next video since I’ll be using that chamber heater extensively
Fixed and there has never been a single fire.
@@802Garage Yet. There has been smoldering boards which thankfully were discovered. There wasn't fires with the Anet A8 at first either.. then there were homes lost.
@@MattWeber I just wanted to be clear that there has not been a case of fire. Not saying it's not a problem or risk.
You guys check out the Flashforge Adventure 5M, or 5X when it releases. I think you'd also be very surprised with it, and it's often less than $250
Well I reached out to them to see if we could work something out so here’s to hoping.
Thanks
“I have no need for it but I kinda want it” is the very grave that I will ultimately rest in if I had to guess. I completely understand that sentiment
Yes, the maximum hot end temperature is 370℃
Alright, you got my sub with the Beartooth shirt
This is all I want from people. Proper recognition for great music
Hi there. Do you have experience with the display? Is it too slow? Mine is slow, and sometimes it only shows half the screen.
So far I have not had issues with my display. Seems responsive. However when loading the file lists it does tend to lag until the files have loaded.
It's true they're not on the top of the machine for Bambu. But they are on the bottom and I bet lots of people haven't realised that.
cool to see an alternative appearing before bambu went to pull the rug on us all.
When a video about bambu labs blocking support fot BTT Products? I just read the anouncement and I´m getting the popcorn ready for the fall out xDDD.
Script written. Video coming in the next day or two
Cool and interesting
Camera? compared P1S, is my biggest negative in my opinion on the P1S - Bambu has not figured out they need to support mods and upgrading, if they had a supported camera upgrade would have already bought one.
You’ve got that right. That camera is worthless
will it do?
How loud is it?
That’s a good question that I didn’t address. I’ll be sure to go more in depth when the chamber fan/heater is going in the next video. But printing normal PLA/PETG/TPU it’s no louder than my enclosed Bambu machines for example
I would get one, but since i have q1 pro I'll just wait for their next IDEX
IDEX would be sick!
Qidi plus 4 is one I wouldn't mind getting either.
I'm here for the low down, 07
So I'm gathering that the big strength of this is for specially engineering filaments rather than your standard pla, TPU, nylon, etc.
Great info here. I’ll have to try some softer stuff as well
@@KeoPrints Yeah I just add a small teflon tube tail on top of the extruder and feed into the top. I got up to around 13mm³/s flow rate with the 85A, but dialed it back to 11 just to have some margin. That's still plenty fast! Came out super clear too. If you try to feed TPU through the reverse Bowden there is a lot of friction. It should work with most 95A, but even some of those can be tricky.
well I'm sold, now I just need money
Oh how I can relate to this sentiment. Too much cool stuff but the funds are limited
@@KeoPrints indeed, so much cool stuff, so little time
I've got 6 of these printers, and they have been a nightmare.
It’s important to paint the whole picture by drawing from one another like this
Oof
Unhinged comment. Who in their right mind buys 6 brand new products without testing them and then pitches a fit when they feel like they wasted money. Complaining about user error and stuff that is unable to be corroborated and even has a fit about unliking a video.
Crazy stuff man, hope you get better soon
My P1S Combo was $806. I'd say reasonable, not cheap.
It’s true. 800 isn’t cheap but for something that prints this hot and with a volume that big, it’s a great deal!
These are good points! Perhaps a 6 month review will be in order
Their presets are solid.
dont forget to take off the little plastic off the camera inside 😁
I’m sure I didn’t forget…. I never forget things like that…. *removes plastic from lens finally*
Thanks for the comment lol
*pours one out for Nacho*
The best boy
Fuck yeah beartooth
You legend! Good looking out
Beartooth dude. Love caleb shomo. Been following him since Attack Attack! So amazing

lol
Dude probably thought it was banana flavored
Cheap it is not.
Cheapest house in that particular neighborhood of features
must prop lid open for petg.
Fair point. I left the top glass off for the PLA and PETG prints
Old, has problems and prints are not that good!
The old ones have issues? Or this one has issues?
I'm sorry, old? It released a few months ago. Saying the prints are not that good is ludicrous considering this prints with cleaner with more precision and fewer VFA than the P1 or X1 series printers.
Only $800?
X1C performance for P1S pricing but with a bigger build volume
@@KeoPrints Not want to argue but in europe thats the price with the AMS about 810 euro vs 849 euro. Still i do agree given its release date its a good price but for many they do need to also proof/ship a ams like device.
That’s true. This can’t be measured by the promise of multicolor capabilities later down the line. As it stands right now, I am impressed with the specs for the price even without multicolor
@@KeoPrints If you think about it, it's more akin to the X1E, just without the auto tuning.
@KeoPrints Yeah well what is great is that finally brands are catching up to bambulab but its been a few years now since the basic xy release they did. It will great to see the push this gives to them to make a better one and get a real innovation battle going and up the avg level of printing so finally what we print can become the thing not how we print.
Can you donate to me so I can somehow afford this :)
You’re putting far too much faith in my bank account
@ Lol 8 )
$800 is not cheap...
For what you get, yes it is.
$800 is absolutely not cheap. But if you are looking for a machine that prints hot with hardened components, you can look at the X1C for $1200 or try this out for $800. Except this prints hotter and has a larger build volume. Its just a good value if it suits your needs!
Might want to start your videos differently. Your opening screams sellout (regardless of whether you did or not).
Would you rather he not disclose the relationship? Can never make everyone happy.
@erich1159 These were issues from when the printer first launch. They are well ironed out now. Nobody has had a loose tool head in quite some time that I know of and the heated chamber issue is resolved. There are many people with hundreds and thousands of hours on the Plus4 already.
in whose world is 800 cheap
For the specs it’s cheap. This is X1C specs with a bigger build volume for hundreds less. Objectively 800 dollars is a lot of money. Especially when I don’t have any money…
It's all relative. Size, features, quality. It's not cheap compared to an A1 Mini, but it is far more capable. What do you need from your printer?
Don't buy 8 dollar coffees and it's pretty easy
