In this video, I am in Damshung County, 4700m, 150km north of Lhasa, to celebrate Grandma’s 71st birthday today, the first of her life.
In Tibet, we didn’t have birthday customs in the past, especially in remote areas, but now due to many external cultures, many new customs are slowly becoming popular.
As an important age node, we also carry the good wish for Grandma’s long life. We celebrate the birthday together.

That you need not worry about ,because except tibetan nobody can survive in tibetan plateau ,even han Chinese just work there ,finally they all come back to inland . the problem is how deep will tibetan society change in the modern world .actually they have changed a lot already . I talked with a tibetan young man once in lhasa, I asked him what will happen in tibetan grassland if all youth left there ,he told me ,then tibetan will use plane to herd the animals！so ,as long as they chose to stay in tibetan plateau ,they can have the best life ,unique ,colorful ,prosperous ,and be full of hope .
@Green tara TIBET Dolker You are tibetan Indian ,you were born in India ,speak Hindi ,maybe your ancestors(maybe grandpa ~~) are roots in Tibet , come on ,you have nothing to do with Tibet China ,right ?for example ,if a Chinese American always say this say that about China ......it is just annoying . But hope you can visit your grandpa's hometown sometime in the future , if you can make it . though I am not in Tibet ,actually it is not my business either ....

I so admire the close family ties among Tibetans and no matter how simple their life is, they seem happy and contented and peaceful. Amazing!
