Excellent video man. I have been a huge advocate of X100 line since it was first released, while I do not have the latest version I am certainly excited to hear of it's upgrades and currently saving up for one. Thank you for sharing your honest thoughts and opinions.
I’m a wedding photographer in Michigan and I’ve used Sony for years. Currently my main body is an A7RIV and my go to lens that rarely leaves my body for portraits and many many many other things is the Sony 85mm 1.4 GM. I know it’s probably weird to hear of someone adopting a new company into their already existing camera system but I needed a 2nd body and honestly wanted a bit of a change. Today was the first time I put them both to the test and honestly just considering adjusting settings going back and forth between the two...I found myself getting frustrated going back to the Sony and it just took longer (I mean not a long time but it adds up) to adjust quick settings. I honestly wasn’t expecting that at all.
Great video. You can turn on electronic shutter in the menu which gives you a shutter speed limit of way faster than 1/4000. If you turn on ms+es it will use the mechanical shutter up to 1/4000 and will switch to electronic for anything above that.
Hey :-) Iam a sony wedding shooter since 3 years. And i bought the X100V 4 weeks ago for my private photography. For having a super lightweight and portable camera, that fits in my business bag. So if i decide to go on a 30 minutes walk around after a workday (in the office - i have 2 jobs) i have the x100v with me. But then, i realized, the X100V is more than just a compact 'bring-it-everywhere'-camera. It is also a workhorse. I was impressed, how good x100v worked for a business event. I was equipped with my Sony A7iii and A6600, but i had the most fun to pick photos with the x100v. And now.. i bought a X-T4. X100V could be that stone in my shoe, that bring me to Fuji as a Wedding Photographer. I follow you since .. years? :-D Always for checking out, how Fuji in Weddings works. And at least, i'm not 100% sure, that i switch. But if i get the 50mm f1 for my X-T4, i will compare it with my FF A7iii with Sigma 85mm f1.4. And then, it could give a decision for 2021 Wedding Year ;-) And now, i leave a big thankyou for your content. I like to follow you here and on insta. Your Content is very nice, interessting and your photos are very high end. Many greetings and Sorry for basic english skills, from Switzerland. Stefan
Wow. Love love love this style of review. The information provided was clearly communicated and easily understood. The example photos flowed nicely along with the b roll. Captivating while also providing education. Bravo my friend! Definitely learned a thing or two!
My preferred formal portrait body is of course my Nikon D850, but for family and overall fun personal stuff, the X100V is my absolute personal favorite.
the fact that the content in each and every one of your video is amazing and very informative is a given, but i also want to point out that the colours and lighting and the general look of your videos are so pleasing to look at! awesome job as always!
Try pressing up (instead of down) after you press the drive button. The menu should wrap down to the bottom of list. It works that way on the XF10 and X-E2, cameras which I have owned.
your videos are dope man! can't wait until x100v restocks so i can buy one now. you have a really chill demeanour and explain things really well. respect bro
While the X100V can't sync to the same maximum speed as the X-T's can, the T's need to be in HSS to break 1/250th. The further you get above 1/250th the more power your flash loses and the longer your recycle times. That is what really makes a leaf shutter shine. I use speedlights almost exclusively(have a pair of 300WS monolights though) and haven't found 1/4000th to be an issue. Even my tiny, and perfectly sized for on camera use with an X100, Flashpoint Zoom Mini becomes incredibly capable outdoors in bright sun. My X100f combined with the TCL/Zoom Mini/a second full size speedlight and some simple modifiers such as a pop up a reflector, Rogue flashbenders or EZ Box Speedlite 2's makes for an amazingly portable outdoor portrait kit. Would I give up my X-T2's and full size speedlights/monolights? No but they are different tools for different jobs.

Great video! Really liked th hat you went into the topic I was looking for. I love street photography but also candid and intimate for events. Question: Is that a flash on the hot shoe? Kinda looks like a GoPro. What type of flash would you recommend for the X100V? Would you recommend toying around with the small EF X8 or it's not really worth it?
Awesome video man! Wow. May have to seriously look at this camera to be used as a secondary camera. Also, I wanted to ask if you had to choose one lens to shoot an enagement/wedding on your Fuji camera, what lens would that be?
Awesome photos!! Stunning! I lost my Canon DSLR to the scammer a few months ago. I am ready to back to photography mode. I shoot the family, golden hour, and traveling for a few years. Which Fujifilm I should get? I have small hands!
This looks like a great little camera, if it wasn't a fit length I would have definitely look to upgrade my X-T2, nice review and your engagement photos looked really beautiful
Back in the day (and that was not so long time ago) the top speed for any leaf shutter was 1/500th/s, so bragging that 1/4000th/s is to slow, well, I'll call it childish. Especially if that same shutter enables you to use ANY flash at ANY shutter speed. On he other hand, I'll agree with you about the lack of the D-pad and bracketing function, it's a bummer...
Hi Reggie great video, I all always wanted the x100 but never got one due to having a x-t3 and x-pro 2 and got both 23 mm lens f2 & f1.4 I was thinking to upgrade my xPro 2 to the xPro 3 do you think the x100 v maybe a good alternative.
I'm so in love with this camera! But would love the know if the autofocus is fast enough for taking pet photography shots for example?! I know Sony are killing at this game of Eye Focusing but, their camera are simply not comfortable to handhold!
Andrew Veale it’s on par of not a tad slower than the 23 1.4. Probsbly an expense of the lens being more compact and having a big range of close focus to infinity
@@Reggiebphoto oh guts! Does it hunt as much as the 23mm f1.4? A beautiful lens but I found it to be quite indecisive when grabbing focus at times, although I did mainly use spot/eye auto focus.
I dunno. I can’t say for certain. Something you’ll have to try out yourself. From my gut feeling, I’d feel more confident tracking a moving wedding couple with the 23 1.4 rather than the x100v.
Thanks, Reggie! This helps, as I'm considering picking up a small everyday camera, and I'm torn between the XT-30 w/16mm 1.4 & the X110V ... too many choices.
Reggie Ballesteros ... thx, I’ll have to rewatch that ... I love the size and improved sharpness of the V, but am afraid I’ll be disappointed in its bokeh
Dan Brock , Have you considered buying the XT2 with an XF16mm f / 1.4? To this combination you could add an XF23mm f / 2, an XF27mm f / 2.8 or a 35mm f / 2. It all depends on the photography you take.
Is this this the only camera you took for that particular engagement shoot? If so Thats brave dude! Photos look awesome, can’t see couple complaining with those results.
What do you think of the White Balance function? If you use the custom kelvin you have to vertically scroll each number to set the WB. It is not like this on the XT-3 or other Fujis. Are there any way you change this with a custom function and use the wheels?
Nice video Reggie, how much distortion is to be expected shooting portraits in JPEG’s within 3 to 4 feet distance and if digital teleconverter option makes it any better?
One Life distortion is controlled by the angle at which you hold and point the camera. Slightly above and pointed slightly down is best for portraits. I typically shoot engsgemen s with an xt3. This exercise was to use just the 23 in the camera Only
