If a Mother stays with her husband, and continues to expose her children to the man who abused them, should, at minimum be charged with child neglect!!! If the children are underage, she should be charged with child abuse!!!!

Our mother seperated from our Father for many years because her signature was forged, we lost our family home, clothes, toys furniture everything. And on top of that I told mum not to give dad another chance I had my reasons. He is not alive anymore but I pray for him each day as he asked for forgiveness and told me he is making a better life for himself many years before he passed away. Worse thing about childhood is that my father's mother and uncle forged my mothers signature, Sold our family home and gave our clothes, toys and everything to charity. They spread the word that my mum ran away abroad with somebody, sold the house. As for me I am a warrior. Not just a victim . Despite what I went through later on in my life I saw beings not of this earth after I asked a question about the direction in my life that I was heading in. Guys whatever happened to you You will get through this. ASK God/ the Universe Angels, higher Realm to send you help. AND PLEASE forgive your PARENTS or and abusers. You don't have to like them but Forgiveness is a way forward for your self. Peace From England UK

In this case, the children were adults and out of the home when they disclosed their abuse. So, they were no longer being abused...at least not sexually...who knows about mental/emotional abuse.

i understand that mind set my mom stayed with my dad too and she was a wonderful mom to a point she failed to protect us. I had to deal with that many years after as a married woman. I confronted my dad he was dismissive in many ways which is also not uncommon. He died at 72 of a massive heart attack. My mom had to own he part in allowing it to continue. She had to repent and she did. It was a different time then 50's no support for families dealing with this issue. Mom had no money to leave no higher education no job..Sadly the medical people were no help the Military big wigs were no help (dad was in the air force) Sad situation but the secrecy is so common. It is a terrible thing to happen but people can survive and thrive even after experiencing this horror. And I have to say my faith in God is what eventually was the main thing that helped me survive. (no I am not a mormon)

Marisella Sanchezlemus Same happened to me, my step father sexually abused me & in many other abusive ways, from age 8-14, until I finally got the courage to tell a school counselor. My mom point blank called me a liar to my face & stayed with him & manipulated me, the social workers & anything she had to do to protect & keep him out of jail. I’m 45 now, it still hurts to the core that she didn’t protect me. In some ways it feels more of a betrayal from her than him. As a mom, I just can’t fathom not protecting your children from any & all harm. He’s been dead now for 3yrs, & I try to get her to go to counseling with me to try & heal, but she says no, that she won’t allow me to embarrass her. I use to wish for some sort of an apology, but I’ve come to the conclusion that it will never happen. God Bless & thank you for sharing. ❤️

Marisella Sanchezlemus thank you so much! It’s bittersweet to hear other similar stories of sexual abuse, in one way it breaks my heart & infuriates me that so many have to suffer, & then it helps me to not feel so alone in my pain. At one point I never thought I could ever openly share my story or my pain, but that was a time when I still felt like somehow I was to blame, but thankfully I don’t feel that anymore. I’m so much more than a sexually abused child..... I’m a survivor, a wife of an awesome man, a mom of 4, a grandmother, a child of God, & I refuse to give up any of who I am to my abuser or my mom. I hope that I can one day bring hope to anyone thats going thru or has gone thru the same, in that we can overcome & not let it define us. God Bless you & your family. 💗💗

The enablers, because they are unable to step up and do the right thing, sink down deeper and deeper with the perpetrator. Not stepping up the first time, it will be harder and harder. Instead of using this to have a chance to make their relationship meaningful and to let this heal the ones involved, these enablers lose more and more dignity.
      For what? For a perpetrator.
(Probably the mother had some history of abuse too. No healthy individual abuse others or ok with others being abused. So now, instead of doing the right thing and have self respect, she became a monster too. What kind of MOTHER let somebody abuse her own daughters. Let alone their own father. Disgusting and monstrous)
Ofcourse, if nobody steps up, more and more people gets hurt. An enabler not just not protecting the right people, but they create and cause many new victims to suffer too. They open the gate for the cycle of abuse. These predators don't change.

If I can help in anyway. I will. I am willing to risk the scorn of my family and shame. Thanks for sharing even a small bit of your personal connection to this issue. This is only personal for me in the way that I am a mother and I feel it is horrendous to put any statue of limitation on any form of abuse suffered by a minor. Children who have been scared and scarred so deeply need time to internally come to terms in order to find the strength to speak out. Most times, that does not happen until well into adulthood. The medical community already knows this, why our laws don’t match up is beyond comprehension.

    • @kdawson8981
      @kdawson8981 5 лет назад +11

NativeNYerChicHK thank you! ❤️ I agree. Basically it’s giving abusers the knowledge that as long as the child stays quiet a few years, he will get away with it. In my case it was a (I believe) 7 year statute. So when finally the cops were called, I was 15yrs old by then. They could only get him for what tried to do when I was 15, not the years of abuse I suffered from him previous to that.

I went through the same thing, but things went differently for me. I was the only female in the family so, thankfully my brothers never suffered sexual abuse from their father. I on the other hand, suffered for so many years at his disgusting hands. I say " their " father because even though he is my biological father, he never acted like what a real loving & protective father should. My mother & brothers turned their backs on me & have lived life as if nothing ever happened... because it didn't happen to them . I didn't seek counseling until my early 30's when all the flashbacks & triggers came to surface after I got married, but sadly, since I'm in California, the statue of limitations has expired for me so, he gets to roam freely in life without any punishment. I strongly believe the statue of limitations needs to be changed because not only are they sexual predators, but murderers as well. They not only murder your childhood , but also your body , your mind, your heart, your soul and your trust in humanity. It's been a long road for me, but I am blessed to have a loving & supportive husband . I've also had the most wonderful counselor who helped me open up the wound & clean it properly . I still get a lump in my throat thinking of others he may have or may be sexually abusing . I wish I could do something, but the laws have my hands tied.
I've had to make peace with my past so I can live the life I know I deserve.
If anybody is reading this who has gone through the same thing, I want you to know that the road may be bumpy, but there is hope in having the life you deserve , the love you deserve & the peace you deserve. With all my heart, I hope you get it. Know that there are wonderful people out there willing to help. Just take the first step to ask for it and the rest will follow. May you be blessed ❤️🌸

Everyone in the whole family still loves him and he comes to all family functions etc. I avoid family functions bc I don’t want to see the man who sexually abused me. But in order for me not to see my abuser, I have to cut myself off from my family, like I’m the one who did something wrong. I was sexually molested by him for years as a child!!! A child!!! I did nothing wrong but came forward and told the truth. He is now in his 80’s. I am counting the days til my abuser is FINALLY out of my life.

@@kdawson8981 I am so sorry that such a sick & criminal injustice was done to you as a child by your own grandfather. I have got to say, however, I DON'T understand how you, or any victim, can even WANT to be with the OTHER family members who have denied or diminished the unforgivably PERVERTED & SELFISH, crimes against you at the hands of your own grandfather, ESPECIALLY your parents AND his wife, your grandmother, who knew EXACTLY what was going on, make no mistake, and did NOTHING‼️ I realize this is very common with survivors of even the most severe cases of sexual abuse, as over the years, I have read too many true accounts of women who'd been sexually-molested by their fathers for their entire childhoods & youths, yet unfathomably, they would STILL insist on bringing their OWN young children & kids to spend time with the now grandparents, to presumably, irrationally "keep the family together": SCREW THAT‼️There are MUCH worse things than being single or independent from, by completely cutting off, entirely, if necessary, a family that is clearly pathologically malignant, destructive, unloving & disrespectful towards YOU, to instead create your own healthy relationships, with people who will truly LOVE & RESPECT you. PERIOD. If any of your siblings or close relatives truly acknowledge & HATE what happened to you & are repulsed by your sick pedo-grandfather, as they ALL SHOULD BE, maybe you can get together with only them, sometimes, AWAY from the rest of the inexcusable, pedo-enabling family, who doesn't DESERVE your love, respect or company, even AFTER the deplorable pervert passes away. Sorry, but just HEARING your tragic, UNFAIR, intolerable story fills me with rage for what was done to you as an innocent child, by the "Grampa" that apparently, EVERYBODY else in your family, unbelievably, STILL loves, respects & wants to surround at Xmas, etc, DESPITE their KNOWING full well exactly what EVIL things HE did to YOU, his own little granddaughter. Regardless, they clearly remain in deep, group-denial, BY CHOICE, therefore, obviously, discounting your very experience, let alone, pain. I bet, too, that THEY still bring their little children to visit with Gramps & sit on his lap, don't they⁉️ Stay strong, and you ARE so very strong, and here's wishing you love, healing & all the best, because you so deeply deserve it... The way that you communicate the horrible, unjust, abuse & pain perpetuated on you, by not only your abuser, but by your whole family, (an apparent, pathological, commonality in most all incestuous & sexually abusive families, from what I understand) in your comment, and how you describe your ongoing, determined recovery, despite it all, is really hopeful & inspiring...Best of Luck, Healing & Happiness, God bless‼️🙏

Teri Looney until someone walks in the shoes of this mother, it is next to impossible to understand how this could be secreted throughout a lifetime, these children somehow became very well informed by others of the possibilities available for them as survivors, none of this issue is simple just lock them up! If life were without evil then perhaps it would’ve been a solution, unfortunately we live in the real world with evil standing right beside us, this mother was a victim as well, can you imagine how she must have felt her main provider betrayed her, pay attention to the likelihood of how many women have found their husbands being evil beings Along the way, there have been children tortured, other women and/or men involved, children have been sold into endentured slavery, all types of odditities, Going on we live within an evil world & it is alive and well we people are just people, we are not saints, we just must pay attention to the world & believe in our children’s ability to see beyond ourselves, issues happen often right in front of our eyes, innocents of children often are able to assist us as they do not have any distinction of what exactly is happening in their world.

My sister and I finally acknowledged and discussed that we were both abused by my father. We were both adults with children (in our 20's). There were instances of abuse where we were very young, in the same abuse situation together. We had buried and tried to forget the memories. We began talking to each other about it out of fear for our own children, and trying to protect them (from any abuse, any abuser- our kids were never in a position to be abused by our father). We finally got the courage to go to police to press charges. I was interviewed first: the hardest, scariest thing I have ever done. Graphic questions and details, humiliation, shame, I was a mess! My sister was waiting in a separate room while I was interviewed. The same officer took my sister back to interview her. An hour later, she came out bawling. He informed us that he would not do any further investigating or press charges. His reason: "your stories had too many similarities. I think you are upset at your dad, maybe over money, who knows? You are lying, and trying to file false charges." Pointed us to the door.
Absolute devastation, shock, anger. It felt like we were those young, abused girls all over again. We cried for the 2 hour drive home. (We had to file charges in the city of our childhood home- where the abuse took place.)
That was the end... Her and I were not the only victims. We spoke out to family add friends. Many did not believe us, some revealed their own abuse at his hands. There were 8 more victims, that we know of!!! We have spent the last 20 years trying to work through it all. We have done counseling. Yes, counselors are mandatory reporters. Our state has a time limit that has passed. My father is terminally ill, and we will never be able to get "justice".
I am coming to terms with it. My purpose for this long comment:
Believe the victims! Their brother is incredible for believing and supporting them. I intend to join the efforts to end the statute of limitations nationwide.
If you are a victim, please speak out! Don't give up until someone hears and believes you! You can message me! I will help you get help. You have done nothing wrong, it was not your fault, you have nothing to be ashamed of! Do not protect the person who abused you!

Thank you for coming forward with your story. I appreciate it. Sorry for your struggles. Statue of limitations have prevented me from getting justice too.

Who writes and passes these laws? Perpetrators in the state houses.

There should be no statute of limitations in any of these types of cases. That there is such is an injustice in itself.

Abusing any child is sick, the abuser needs treatment/punishment, plus the enabler, in this case the mother, should be prosecuted for not protecting her children, as a fellow survivor I congratulate the Brown siblings and wish them wonderful, happy, successful lives away from their abusers.

It is disturbing and disgusting that this and similar types of sexual abuse happened very often back in the day. Thank GOD for laws finally put in place to 'try to' stop it.

I had a Mormon friend growing up and her step father sexually abused at least three of the four step children. I was mortified to find out her mother was telling the children they need to forgive him and would take them to visit him and tell him they still love him while he was in prison. I was so traumatized my mother thought something happened to me. I told her what my friend went through as I cried. I can’t imagine the emotional abuse they went through.

I’m so glad the dad is in prison, and they could prosecute 15 years after the fact in Utah.
