I have an Alberg 30 with a Cape Horn. It’s missing its little bungee cord that dictates tension or resistance and I can tell if that’s the reason it falls off the wind eventually. Figuring out my wind vane has been a bit of a learning curve for me. Any tips?
One of the guys on the GGR did not have the rudder of the hydrovane tied on and something came lose and the rudder slipped out and was lost, so he was left without self steering and pulled out, if my memory serves me correctly...
It's the pin that locks the rudder to the system. I have read that many users manufacture their own pin because they dont trust the one provided to stay in place. The rudder should also be secured with a line to the boat, so that, in the event that it does come loose, you can fish it onboard.
Hi, a real great "WindPilot" system! Have fair winds and take care. 🖐👍🍀
Have a great trip Cap safe travels my friend. Remember when I invented sailing ⛵️ 😂 ......call it murf 😊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for explanation. Seems like an extension for the small handle would be useful if there was an emergency with the tiller.
Nice installation on the vane . I like your lazarette , it fits "flush" . I thought they only did that on W28's .

I prefer the track record of the Aries tried and true, But John Kretchmer has lots of time with a Hydrovane and I trust his opinion too.

What did you upgrade?
Not my Westsail, just gearing up for a trip to the Bahamas.
@@SailingIntoOblivion enjoy the Bahamas. We have had unusual weather with the El Niño.
Nice review of a good system…. But after all you’ve been through with Mongo… !⛵️⛵️⛵️
