I think there is a difference between being offended and being hurt. Personally, where a joke is at the direct expense of another, I would question if it were anything of a laughing matter but then, I am not easily made to laugh anyway. I would say that dumb jokes work better for me than do any other kind, the type of joke that is simply silly. A wry wit will often ring true to make one think more curiously about something, and that in itself is not such a bad thing, if comedy can even bring about healing in a world too often in need of a good laugh, you know? And now I am wondering if there is a difference between ridicule and satire? Joel, you resonate! As I am coming to learn more about you through your channel and its content, do you appear the kindest of people. Respect and blessings your way!
I’ve been trying to work out, why us Brits, are the way we are. But I think you’ve nailed it. We don’t like to back down. We don’t like to give ground or back off. We find it distasteful and undermining.
Is the Madeleine McCann case well known in America? If not, its not hugely surprising. Your country is a whole ass continent on its own. We take that for granted as much as you guys might take for granted how tiny the UK is in comparison. So small that 3/4 of the countries are smaller/less populated than a lot of the states. Madeleine's case brought up a lot about unequal treatment too. Just the same way that a low income family or family claiming welfare would be looked upon with a lot more suspicion that "good, upstanding" people like the McCanns (affluent with good career backgrounds) etc. and quite frankly I think there is every reason for the circumstances to stick in the throats of the British public. Class differences are very much alive in 2022.
@@annwethenorth Well, that's true. Tbf I'd of had to discover the Bulger case or the West's/Cromwell St via the internet had my parents not told me about them when I was a kid. They both happened not too long before I was born.
Not a big fan of compilation clip vids because, as you pointed out, you lose the context that you get from a complete gig routine. Likewise with the TV shows where they’re just a bunch of comedians competing against one another and there’s just no time allowed to build rapport with the audience and deliver jokes properly - good jokes need “space to breathe”
Offence is taken, not given. You can't blame a joke or its teller for the offence you choose to take. ALSO, you are not responsible for other people's sensibilities when it comes to the comedy you find funny.
I think the point is to be true to yourself. If you find it funny, laugh. If you feel it's over the line for you, then don't laugh. Comedy should be freeing, a way to release pent up anxiety. No one should judge.
@@cockoffgewgle4993 We develop a sense of humour to survive, things were a lot different when I was growing up, it could be brutal, probably why we love dark humour. The woke brigade can drain the fun out of everything. I am certainly not offended by gay jokes, the thought police are now certainly in control, though they'll never control me.
Greetings from across the Pond. Somehow you popped up on my recommended page during the events of Queen Elizabeth's death. I will comment on those when I have time. Your observations and comments greatly impressed me. Although I live on the continent in a non English speaking country I find as much as possible online from the UK particularly to watch. British humour especially dry or dark humour has always been the most appealing to me. In contrast to most American humour which I never found funny despite being born and raised in NYC, I have spent most of my life abroad. The comedians you show here I know of very well but are only a few of many who are irreverent and extremely funny. They are mostly not constrained by the rigid PC hypocrisy of the USA. The entire new mindset of offending people is quite immature. Someone, somewhere will always be offended by something. People need to get over themselves. I would rather know what people really think than to have everyone being censored never knowing who my enemies really are. By trying to suppress people's opinions and thoughts only forces people to repress their feelings and creates inner rage and hostility. That being said ....... I agree with your insight..... you are uncomfortable because you have been indoctrinated with an attitude and ideology that only serves to cause you guilt and anxiety and to censor yourself which proves that it is not healthy or positive. Comedy is exactly that, something that makes people laugh. If it were so offensive than no one would laugh but it actually has the opposite effect. It releases pent up feelings in us. Often stereotypes are offensive but in reality in every stereotype there is a strong element of truth. Being able to accept this gave me a great deal of freedom. I have felt offended many times in my life but I take it from where it comes. It sometimes helps me to know who to stay away from. But either way unless something is said with a very pointed malicious intent it is not worth getting your knickers in a twist over. Comedians are not expressing their own feelings, opinions or beliefs for the most part. They find subjects often relevant to present politics and/or society that they know hit a nerve and present it mostly in a way that is ironic, sarcastic, satirical etc ....... with the sole purpose to appeal to various types of humour and to make people laugh. Laughing is a wonderful thing and very healthy. To suppress that is wrong and unhealthy. So let yourself go. Don't over think it. I observe that you are intelligent and quite reflective which are wonderful qualities in themselves but sometimes it is necessary to let go and take things superficially. Many of the clips you watch are from a weekly show called "Mock the Week" which is very funny and mostly intellectual. There are a number of wonderful Scots, Welsh and Irish comedians who I am sure you would enjoy. To mention two ... Kevin Bridges a Glaswegian and James Acaster, English. The advantage is the variety of Accents, North, south, east and west of England, regional Scotland, Wales, regional Ireland and Northern Ireland. Also Australian Adam Hills and posh Jack Whitehall. You might have a look at Vir Das ....... he is very irreverent and brilliant. ruclips.net/video/xU-zhajzad4/видео.html Obviously there are references to things or people that unless you live in the UK or Europe may not be easily understood. But mostly if you are current with people and world affairs you will catch some of it. However you have the advantage of internet so if a name or subject is referenced you can look it up online. Speaking several languagesI learn much that way even about the USA when necessary. Curiosity and an enquiring mind are vital to an enriching life. Also an expansion of vocabulary is very advantageous. Cheers and keep opening your mind and spirit.
All true. The sad thing is that what was once a brilliant, irreverent, and funny AF panel show - "Mock the Week" - has devolved into a woke-fest of self congratulation, and unfunny, scripted `banter'. Comedians like Frankie Boyle and Andy Parsons are no longer welcome there.
I like jokes that can be offensive, however I dislike jokes that are offensive just for the sake of being offensive.Being offensive in itself is not funny at all, but jokes that poke fun at how easily we are offended can be.For me Jimmy Carr crosses the line and is offensive for the sake of being offensive. I would not ban him but I just do not find his jokes funny because they so deliberately structured to offend.

Some of these jokes were offensive without being funny. The trick is to be funny, then any offensiveness becomes irrelevant. The best 'offensive' comedian, in my opinion, is Jerry Sadowitz - he does great magic at the same time, just in passing. This year he had a two-night booking in the Pleasance theatre at the Edinburgh Festival (Fringe). Some snowflake from the in-house STAFF complained, and he was cancelled after the first night. You will not see him on film. He does not allow it. I have seen him in live performance twice. He is a fellow Glaswegian but I saw him in London which is where I live. He billed his Edinburgh show this year as 'Not suitable for anybody'.
Hi Joel, lovely to listen to you again. I cringe at some jokes, but remind myself it's a joke. I see a joke as something to point out the uncomfortable but necessary to keep the mind from tipping into doom and insanity. That's why surgeons have a wicked sense of humour. But saying Minchin was born in UK and moved to Australia is lacking in its detail.
He was born in the UK to his two Australian Parents and he was raised in Australia, he has dual citizenship but he's only a British citizen because he was born before they changed the laws.
Hi Joel, if you want really offensive maybe check out Roy 'Chubby' Brown too. He held the title of being Britain's rudest comedian. Loving the videos by the way. Keep 'em coming 😀
I always imagine offended people are like Hugh Laurie's brilliant performance in "A Viewer Complains | A Bit of Fry and Laurie", ^oo^
FROM A UK REACTOR YOU A BIG INSPIRATION U BROTHER JUSY SAYInG 💜💪🇬🇧🇬🇧
The last one is in reference to KYLIE MINOGUES music video to “WOW” this was her first album after fighting breast cancer……so that’s his reference to her not being able to have babies!!! Kinda sucks as he’s a funny guy & a music genius but also a fellow Australian!!! POOR KYLIE! 😢
Please watch and react to Bernard Manning and Roy Chubby Brown. You would find a clip of Love Thy Neighbour very enlightening of 1970s values.
Look up an old show called love thy neighbour lol. People are becoming too serious
Minchin and Jefferies are Australian, literally the other side of the planet!
Frankie Boyle and Jimmy Carr. Legends.
If the English, Scots, Welsh and Irish stopped taking the piss out of each other, it would lead to full on fighting. Humour is a safety valve - however offensive.
madeline he meant the taking of madeline mccann as her parents left their kids to go to a meal in portugal, they were both doctors, dont feel bad about laughing at the jokes, its comedy, and if you cant laugh at comedy when can you, yes we know its near the edge, but thats a very british thing
These are the most offensive? Jim Jefferies is Australian. He's hilarious. All great comedians push boundaries. There's tons
They were definitely offensive and that’s what makes them so funny. Jimmy car is one of my favourites 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Madeline had disappeared from her hotel room when her parents where out having a meal a lot of controversy about it. Ppl thought the parents had something to do with it.
Kerry Katona is from the girl group Atomic Kitten. She has 5 or 6 kids, with nearly the same amount of Dad’s 😂
She also went bankrupt due to spending all her money on booze and drugs, hence the empty boxes joke.
Don't see how you can have way too many school shootings 😂surely one school massacre is too many
Funny as 😆 Good to see you smile again dude.
Love your channel, you've gone from the Queen's Funeral to Frankie Boyle 😂😂😂😂😂
We don't back down 🇬🇧
I’ve been trying to work out, why us Brits, are the way we are. But I think you’ve nailed it. We don’t like to back down. We don’t like to give ground or back off. We find it distasteful and undermining.
Did you spot Adele sitting on the panel during the last clip about Kylie? She was young, probably around 20 but it was her.
Kids don't know her anymore.
Did you know Frankie Boyle started his career writing jokes for Jimmy Carr
FFS! Sharon Horgan committed to that script - and that is NOT her style of humour!
I love your videos. Haha
British people show love by being mean to each other. Our humour is super dark
I think the point is to be true to yourself. If you find it funny, laugh. If you feel it's over the line for you, then don't laugh. Comedy should be freeing, a way to release pent up anxiety. No one should judge.
Offence is a choice, choose better 😂
Hello Joel. This made me feel old as the comedians from the era of Dave Allen that you watched made these look like naughty kids.
You should know that Frankie Boyle has written for Jimmy Carr, so that explains some of the darkest Jimmy Carr jokes.
Madeline was kidnapped while her parents were at a party and they left her in the hotel on her own and she was only 3.
I'm gay, but didn't find that joke offensive...
Jokes are jokes.. can be very dark.. but that's comedy.
darker the better.
Same here and quite agree. Best British humour is dark and brutal.
Gay men tend to have a sense of humour. It's why they're increasingly exiled from the woke brigade.
You might have a look at Vir Das ....... he is very irreverent and brilliant. ruclips.net/video/xU-zhajzad4/видео.html
Obviously there are references to things or people that unless you live in the UK or Europe may not be easily understood.

Ermm... Tim Minchin isn't British, he's austrailian 🤣 but this is so funny 👏👏🤣🤣
It's just brilliant. To see.you laugh.at these comedians an not be offended, like you said if you're. Easily offended then don't watch.
Madeline McCann the Frankie Boyle one
I like jokes that can be offensive, however I dislike jokes that are offensive just for the sake of being offensive.Being offensive in itself is not funny at all, but jokes that poke fun at how easily we are offended can be.For me Jimmy Carr crosses the line and is offensive for the sake of being offensive. I would not ban him but I just do not find his jokes funny because they so deliberately structured to offend.
As much as I love Jimmy Carr, and I do, you used to watch all this intelligent shit. Where'd that go?
3:37 madeleine mccann was the butt of this joke. The child who went missing in portugal
Dood! Was shit cut out?
The second guy you see isn't even British. It's Australian comic Tim Minchin.
The guy after Jimmy Carr is also Australian.
You can say what you like about paedophiles, but at least they always slow down when they drive by schools.
Chill man. You just look nervous and confused 😅 plus how did you not get the Madline McCain joke? 🤣🤣
Have you looked up on YT Lee Ridley - The Lost Voice Guy... now thats a comedian you could to a reaction vid too
U look so grown up with that beard Joel haha suits you
Better clean shaven. Jps is single too! Maybe!..
I didn't find any of those particularly offensive. Why are people so easily shocked? I can only assume a lot of people have lead very sheltered lives!
I know this is not relevant to this video but just wanted to ask you if you have reacted to Freddie Mercury and Montsarrat Caballé singing 'Barcelona'?
Have u watched Mrs brown boys it's really good
just watched Christopher Hitchens revised 10 commandments. Think you may like it.
Most of this comedy is from 2010. After 2013 and the “Hate Speech” Laws Comedy has almost died.
you said dont get offended, but you got a bit twitchy when the american jokes were told. Could see it in your face. 🤣
Tbh as a Brit my fav comedian by a long way is Ricky Gervais. Then I guess Steven Coogan. What Ricky did at the Golden Globes and his recent shows have been epic. Shocked not in that video.
In this country free speech is free....if you buy a ticket to their shows you are told it may offend you... so don't buy 1 or watch them.
nothing should be off-limits in comedy. The worst thing that can happen is no audiance laughter.
You gotta watch more jimmy carr lmao, he's hardcore
We can laugh at ourselves… that’s the POINT!!
also bro, forget about the line, dont be snowflake and have a laugh. thats dark shit is always the funniest
You should check out Roy Chubby Brown
Can someone explain the Joker joke for me please ?
There’s a few Australians in this mob.
Joel these are nothing compared to a guy named Chubby Brown you should check him out if you want to hear a guy with a no holds barred comedy show but be prepared for a LOT of bad language !
Funny vlog joal.
BTW, have you reviewed The Inbetweeners, its as funny as it is cringe worthy brilliant .
Yes Jps watched inbetweeners TV and movies on his Patreon. He enjoyed them
We say it how it is bro
Got your flag upside down bro.
