The readings for the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ, Year B, invite us to reflect on the sacrificial nature of the Eucharist and the deep love that Christ has for us in offering Himself to us as our spiritual nourishment.
In the first reading from the book of Exodus, we hear of the covenant that God made with His people through Moses. This covenant was sealed with the blood of sacrificed animals, symbolizing the bond between God and His chosen people. But now, in the Eucharist, we enter into a new and everlasting covenant with God through Jesus Christ, who offered His own body and blood for our salvation.
