    Wrap a pig panel around it to keep the deer off and that little tree will bounce back. Might need to prune it back but it has new growth on it.

    We have a similar village near the town where I grew up they moved old houses, businesses, a church, and a school from all over Michigan and set it up as an actual village. You can actually walk through most of the houses and they usually have people in period dress actually doing things the way they would have a hundred years or more ago. You can buy note pads printed on the old style printing press that they operate periodically throughout the day; watch someone make brooms and buy a handmade broom( I bought a cake tester broom it looks like a round scrub brush); watch a blacksmith making different things and buy a keychain or something to hang on your wall that the blacksmith made, watch someone spinning yarn on a spinning wheel from alpaca wool and buy a skein of hand made wool; and my husband’s favorite, watch an actual sawmill cut boards that they just might use to repair the board sidewalks. They used to have an operational gristmill, but the miller died or moved or retired (it was years ago and I can’t remember which) and they can’t find anyone qualified to operate it. We try to take our church youth group there at least every other summer.

    Cassie, Har-Ber Village was really cool! Thanks for the footage. The garden is looking good Gary! I bought a 36 pack of eggs last week and it was $8.12. Severely up! If Ransom's tree doesn't make it and you replant, you should probably make a chicken wire or stronger cage around it with T posts. Tall enough and wide enough so the deer can't get to it again. I really feel bad for him to be the only one who lost his. 😒 Be blessed Walkers! Texas Deb ❤️

  • @wendyhenschel.
    @wendyhenschel. 2 года назад +1

    Cut the tree down to just above the new growth and spray some black spray paint on the cut to seal it. The new growth should continue growing up as long as there is no bacteria attacking the tree. Some trees die back on top growth but send up new growth from the bottom. If any other new shoots come out on the bottom cut them off so the tree puts all its energy into that one growth. It will grow a lot faster if there is no competition. Good luck!

    Try cutting all the branches back in half and see if it recovers. Then put netting on top of the tree to discourage the deer.(or chicken wire around the top or where the deer eat) Good luck!

    I really like the term "covered" over all the other words I've heard used. Love you Cassie and crew! Glad you all had such a good time on your trip. Wish I was healthy and could travel still. I'd so love to meet you all and the other farm families I've come to care about. To see OK where my Grannie was born. I'd never thought of it being a pretty state until I started watching all the farm families from there. I like to see that so much history has survived and been saved over the years. I once thought OK was just flat and prone to damaging storms. But you all thrive there and there seems to be so many nice, really nice folks from there. I have wanted to taste redbuds for years now! I learned a bit late in life about wild edibles and medicinal plants. I knew many from growing up in the country in NE Arkansas...but I became disabled during my later years in nursing and lost the ability to get around and do the things I thought I had years to enjoy. Never take today for granted as we are never promised tomorrow on this earth and good health. God bless you and yours and thank you for sharing your life with us. You can't know what it has done for me.

    By looking at the trees I believe it wasn't the deer it was those tent caterpillars the eat all the leaves of the trees . And unfortunately the little tree hot the worst of it. And we use to plant our cucumbers and squash and pumpkins around our trees to keep rabbits and deer away from the trunk and fruit on the trees. Also peaches do not like wet ground. Also you can graft into the tree if you want to grow a different kind. Apple to apple pear to pear. Not sure about peaches. Duck eggs is a great source of vitamin D and make the best noodles. Love seeing the kids playing in the rain. It is sad that cows get bullied. Dad always fed in many piles and 2 very far from the main herd. The cow we had use to stand back and came when called for her share. We fed her behind a tree so the bullies couldn't tell what she was eating. Love the cows. Great video thank you God Bless your family.

    Hi y'all, we talked about the mouse melons!! Ransom's little tree will be just fine in time. You might to check the branches that look not so good by pruning them a half inch at a time until you to green growth. It will sprout at that point if you see a little spot or knot close to that point. Leaves will begin to show up. Leave the branches that you think are looking as if they are trying to leaf out. For the others, prune back like the first one you tried. His tree is still green and will take a little care and patience. Good luck and bless your family always.

    I saw suggestions of putting a wire cage around tree to keep the deer out. It’s a great idea, but if you do you may have to do the others as well to keep them from just moving on to another tree. I don’t know if his will bounce back or not. You could take him to pick out a new tree though. I’d take pictures or that video clip to somewhere and ask. Are the branches dead or is there green in the branches at all? It may come back from the bottom. Are those shoots from before or after the graft? If before - no, if after possibly,, but if rest of tree is dead (be sure) you would have to cut it all the way back and it will take a lot longer to recover. If the branches are still green then keeping the deer off should give it a good chance to recover.

    Really guys??!! I just ordered Redmond Salt from Amazon 2 days ago to try for the first time.😂😂 Anyone who doesn't like Cassie "deviled" eggs can't be Southern or maybe even American. The more paprika the better. Love the rain and being out in it. Brings back sweet, happy memories of summers in NC as a child. After a rain we would put on our bathing suits and take umbrellas and get under trees and shake the branches. Thanks for showing glimpses of my past. Now if I tried to get out in the rain I would have to be careful not to slip and break something.😊 Plus. in South Texas Not so much rain, even though, Praise the Lord, we have had some much needed rain in the last 2 days. Bless you all and thank you for being a light in this world. Y'all bring a normalcy which we don't see much anymore. God is Good.💖💖💖🙏🙏🙏

    When you take your trip further out east, make sure you stop at Gettysburg, P.A. battlefield. Also Antietam Battlefield in Virginia. So much to see...

    Love deviled eggs 😋. Cassie I understand what you mean by the smell of the chick's. I just moved my chick's and gosling out to the garage last night, the chick's are a month old now and the gosling I got 2 weeks ago. My first chicken that I hatched in October are starting to lay eggs. I got 2 today and I am excited about it. I got 4 dozen in the incubator and 1 dozen of duck eggs. I hope that I have a better hatch rate this time.

    Hi guy's, I told a homestead in New Hampshire about the Okie gathering 2023. I know it's far away but if you have a list to send an invite to Lumnah Acres. Al along with his wife Gina and daughter have modern steader home.
    He bought about 1000 acres of land further into NH. They have been building and making a great new homestead.
    They raise Nigerian goats, meat chickens and meat pigs at the moment. They are great farm. I thought that next he might want to experience the Okie show. Even though he isn't from there. Get some different ideas and views on farming and how to do other things. Thank you all. Love you all so much!! Blessings

    I love deviled eggs! They are my favorite, especially when you put bacon on top for a garnish and some curry powder in the yolk mixture, so yummy!
