Had surgery 2 weeks ago on my shoulder....I still can’t talk and my tongue is deviated to the left. (Shoulder surgery was on my right shoulder).
They are guessing cranial nerve 12 was temporarily damaged due to positioning during the surgery,
I have MRI/MRA set-up for Monday.
Based on what I mentioned, are they missing anything? (I am in a rural area and have been told by many doctors, they have never seen this before)
Yeah, it's a known complication in head and neck surgeries, it needs to be followed up with a MRI scan to rule out any bleeding from neck surgery or if it is a stroke
Thanks, I had the MRI/MRA on Monday, they told me no stroke. I meet with the neurologist later today.
Ayesh Baddage turns out they think the nerve was damaged from the tube they had in my throat...said I should be speaking normally in a few weeks.
Thanks for the info and your reply!
