Someone in the police was convinced that she is guilty and produced necessary evidences to incriminate her. The murderer has disposed body very well. Since police can't find body they put some substitute there. In case she is innocent - unless the actual guilty is caught she will always be the murderer in eyes of society. But then she clearly says she does not care for opinions of society. Too much of a strong woman. Apparently she was also not getting along with her husband Peter - how else does one explain the presence of an earlier husband in this drama.

The people around Indrani have said she has a history of deception, she is hungry for media, money, and attention, she has done questionable things towards her children (Sheena, Makheil, and Vidhie), and she very frequently contradicts herself in the documentary (from phone call recordings to interviews) yet she paints herself as a tragic individual made the victim of her circumstances? And she maintains Sheena is alive and in the US? 🤨 That whole thing is suspicious to me. She may not have physically done the deed, but she probably knows what happened to Sheena.
