He turned on the vintage electric fan as the Electric Fan Harp, despite the off-season🔌
The place is the “Denki-yu (Electric Bath)” powered by renewable sources in a traditional street in Sumida, Tokyo.
This video streamed for an online forum, “The transition from here and now” organized by Hitachi R&D Group.

The "blades" spinning is part of the way that the instrument works, so it has to be able to spin. 😁

I always have to applaud these guys and everything they do for the level of creativity they bring to the table. It brings a genuine smile to my face to see them jamming on their crazy inventions. You can feel their satisfaction each time from pulling off such a unique idea. And it's not just an novelty too, it's real music. It just comes together so well. It's truly a special group of people.

At this point famous instrument crafters should be begging you to partner with them in the development of a purpose built fan instrument. I'd love to see what you could make partnered with Korg, Roland or Ibanez.
The description says that this video was organized by Hitachi, though it would be cool to see other companies partner with them too

I get some real Yo La Tengo vibes from the solo at 5:05, the way it rides that line between cohesive melodic ideas and just chaotic screeching before eventually settling back down. Yo La Tengo is probably my favorite band btw, so that's a big compliment lol
