    I usually run away when I hear the Indian accent because most of the time, youtubers usually talk too fast without articulating which is difficult to understand for a non english native speaker.
    This, is an example of a great narration and I can't thank you enough for your efforts and dedication. Plus, the content is nicely illustrated.

    Really neat tutorial, Thanks. Which utility program could I used to trap a particular line from syslog and then email it out of mainframe?

    • @Topictrick
      @Topictrick  3 года назад +1

      Hi Nicolas,
      Thank you so much for your feedback. As per my understanding, there is no such utility that can trap a specific line from Syslog. You can dump logs and then use Rexx/Sort utility, etc. to extract specific lines. For email, you need to check with your system admin because every shop has a different setup. You can use z/OS SMTP, JES2Mail, etc. to send email but that depends on your shop. You can refer to the blog post for more details about Syslog utility.

      Hi Prakash,
      Thank you so much for your comment. Yes, you can write more than one in-stream procedure. The maximum number of in-stream procedures you can code in any job is 15. can you explain abou how to delete 10 years old datasets, before it take a backup

    • @Topictrick
      @Topictrick  2 года назад

      Hi Raj,
      Thanks for your message. You can delete datasets by using IDCAM's utility or TSO delete command if you have specific dataset. But if you delete all datasets more than 10 years then you need to design REXX code to get list of such datasets and delete those datasets via TSO delete command executed via Rexx. For backup you can use IEBGENER utility.

      Thanks for your video describing jcl
      Actually I stop working from 1999 after I left Saudi as a vs COBOL programmer in Wang vs 80 machine.
      Till now I am not in IT, i am doing a small business in my native. Since two months i am reading IBM mainframe z/OS, ISPF, JCL by referring IBM mainframe tutorials.
      For reference i went thru your class and i understood, and i hope I can rejoin to continue my carrier.

    Sir how to create a temporary file

    • @Topictrick
      @Topictrick  3 года назад

      Hi Shubham,
      Thanks for your comment. You can create a temporary dataset by specifying "&&" after the DSN keyword. For example DSNAME=&&dsname,DISP=(NEW,PASS). The system will create and deleted the temporary dataset in the same job. Let me know if you still have any questions. Hi Sheik,
      Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, we have not created PDF for it. You can use the video to learn JCL concepts. In fact, it would be better than a pdf. Please consider subscribing to our channel for more such videos.
      Thanks,
      Topictrick.
