    There's an expression I think attributed to Maya Angelou, people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. That's what this man's music imbedded in me when I was 14 years old listening to the "underground" FM station from UW Milwaukee in 1972.

    Just fantastic to see that 35 years on, he's still on his own!! All previously metioned albums are might good but have a listen to Live in Europe.

    any guitarist who calls themselves a guitarist , if you kind of understand what I'm saying. Should be able to play Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, and some of Leo Kottke's Originals... He is amazing, I'm going to see him this Friday, in Joliet, Thank god he didn't turn to drugs like most musicians.

    Sorry drcurio, but you are insane. If this is not Leo Kottke I will eat both of my 12-strings. It looks like Leo Kottke, it sounds like Leo Kottke, it IS Leo Kottke. Someone (possibly Garrison Keillor) said Leo was a National Treasure. Since he plays all over the world, he is a universal treasure. BTW: Leo's first album was 'Circle 'Round the Sun'. He signed it for me a few years ago--wrote 'Burn this record' & put the current date on it. I also have '12-string Blues'.

    MR. MACHINE HANDS. Doing this kind of work requires enormous amounts of concentrated effort. The disseminated and evolved Travis picking gets splayed into ten different approaches to the instrument and then finely integrated and practiced by MR MACHINE HANDS.

    Richard Feynman, (World reknowned quantum mechanics physicist) made up his mind he was gonna get down Rachmanonov's Flight of the Bumblebee. He went at it with great fervor the way he tackled any physics problem. After a while he gave up. Muscle Memory is not the same as quantizing fore brain, It just ain't.

      Well I know that Vaseline Machine Gun is played in open G (DGDGBD) but Kottke usually tunes town.

      WARLOCKOFTHEUNDEAD :: I've been playing slide in Open G for years... but only on my nylon-stringed classical. I got a wild hair the other day to try the slide on my 12-string, but I just left it in standard tuning. Hmmmm. After seeing this, I may have to retune that old 12-string!!!

      I don’t know the name of the tuning, but the lowE, highE and A string pairs are tuned down six half-steps; the B, G and D pairs are tuned down four half-steps.

    Bob Marley smoked a pound a week. Thats more than 2 ounces a day. I doubt Kottke or any other american has ever matched that....at least not on any kind of lasting basis....

    He may not be as musical as Justin Beiber but Leo Kottke tries his best. Thats why Justin Bieber has 350,000,000 views and Kottke only 50,000 because Justin has the talent and Kottke only has a global media production machine backing him.
