I grew up as a kid watching AJ and Darrell Eastlake present F1 in Australia always enjoyed their banter. Plus love AJ's no nonsense approach and his love for F1.
What a brilliant commentator is Mr. Alan Jones. He would be just perfect to comment races on tv. He is a pleasure to listen to him also because you feel the passion for racing. Great video indeed. Thank you !
He did commentate with Daryl, he actually made comments after each Ad break. The race commentator was Murray Walker. He was unbelievably blunt, wasn’t a fan of Nigel Mansell, amongst others, he never backed off either .Also was a great friend of Patrick Head & Frank Williams, so knew what was going on in Formula One. He definitely retired too early!
Flame Resistant Troll I wasn’t aware of that Although he had a pretty solid “frame”. I saw him at Bathurst in a Falcon passing someone 3 wheels on the grass. He was an extremely competitive driver, when he was motivated. He was very close to Patrick Head & Frank Williams, always had tidbits of info from them on the F1 coverage in Australia.
Alan Jones is basically the reason why F1 became a very popular sport in Australia and why we have had an Australian Formula One Grand Prix since 1985. Thanks Mate !
@@alvaronunesdesousa878 the most beautiful racing car ever built. With the best driver. He also drove the second most beautiful racing car ever built during his comeback with Lola. If that car had a decent engine I think he could have been competitive. It was still one of the sweetest handling cars ever. But of course, in the hands of a master. Even today's Williams would have looked good if he was driving it.
@Flame Resistant Troll "- but I don't think either of those Renault drivers expected AJ to blast by them both!!"... How could they? it still looks impossible:) AJ was the ultimate master of wing cars, with the smoothest control of intentional slides, oversteering, understeering ... a great champion.
Alan Jones is active in a Facebook group related to 70's F1. I had the opportunity to exchange opinions about some facts and stories from those years. Yes, even at his 73 years old, he's still same attitude, controversial opinions about drivers and countries, and some people argue with him but when you have the chance to talk with a World Champion is better to listen what he has to tell rather argue with him
The FW08 6 wheeler was over 1.5 secs faster per lap and 13 mph faster on the straight than the FW07C at the Paul Ricard test, i'm glam they kept one around.
"stands out a bit. But not a bad thing to have hanging around though is it... you got that right". Fuck I love the Aussies! My old woman is just as. love it.
Surprised AJ needed a name tag, thought he would have keys to the place. It's well known he was adored by everyone at Williams. I read a story, told by a well known name that I forget, possibly a journalist. Told many years after Prost drove for them. Two Williams guys were moaning about something, one said to the other, "it wouldn't be like that if Alan was still here". The guy telling the story assumed they meant Prost. No, it was Jones!
Correct...that chassis FW07/4 has been fully restored and resides in Melbourne these days...owned by a mate of mine....and gets run every now and then. A thing of true beauty
08:00, What is he saying? They didn't just ban that car, all those Group B cars were banned on safety grounds: ruclips.net/video/J7y8SB3hhOQ/видео.html
Well maybe it's similar to the story of the personal car of Walter P. Chrysler being in the Ford museum. Maybe Frank was really bitter at losing Alesi to Ferrari and so wanted a Ferrari car in return.
He didn't even finish a single race with Williams, what accomplishments are you talking about? Big fan and all but this is a Williams doco not a Senna doco - there's plenty of those already
He was part of the studio commentary team Channel 9 had when they had the coverage. We had the BBC commentary with Murray Walker and James Hunt with some locals in the studio.

gino And in his active time he used to be a over weight. And now he’s in great shape!!

Alan Jones is the reason I got hooked on F1 41 years ago. A brilliant guy, I have a lot to thank him for.
We only got live F1 coverage in Australia in 1981 because AJ won the championship in 1980. I think the first race shown was the South African race.
Always a Williams fan no matter where they are on the grid
Same here... Since Alan Jones and the beautiful FW07...

My favourite driver in his days... naturally talented and engineering aware... with a formidable character
@Flame Resistant Troll , that double take on the Renaults... it still looks and feels impossible!

What a great 👍 video. Thanx so much - really enjoyed watching. Cheers 🥂

I loved the green white Williams even though I'm a Ferrarista, old memories, great battles with Gilles and Jody...

Absolutely fantastic
There is a Williams from 1992 I think in the DAF (trucks) Museum in Eindhoven Netherlands. I asked but I was not allowed to sit in it. Beautiful car

Bloody brilliant 😀🏁
Wow, great video, thanks!!!
Great video great driver no bullshit.
I am a fan of Alan Jones. Hello Alan !
That's the heritage museum (a very small part of it), not the factory
The good Alan Jones
Grande Williams! 🌹🖐🐊
I saw 1 of allan race cars in a small town in western Australia in a car museum

I presume that was at York. I went there a few times. I believe at one stage they had the Cosworth 4WD F1 cars (it was experimental and never raced).
@@simonkevnorris yeah it was.. my ex her family is from there..
Awesome video! Thanks!
The last car is the FW19 that Jacques Villeneuve won in '97.
I think it's a FW18 with the 19 livery. Look at the headrest and air intake
From back in the day when a Williams could pull the skin off a rice puddin'

Little did they know it would all fall apart after.
Brilliant
"It's a bit tight around the bum. I'd go on a diet for this thing though."
If that isn't the Aussie declaration of love, I don't know what is!
I didnt know about the air tube
whats a ferrari doing in a williams factory?
Well maybe it's similar to the story of the personal car of Walter P. Chrysler being in the Ford museum. Maybe Frank was really bitter at losing Alesi to Ferrari and so wanted a Ferrari car in return.
Cbr 3 did you not listen to the story that was told?
Ferrari gifted the car to Williams as compensation for allowing Alesi to drive for Ferrari when he had a contract with Williams that year.
Imagine if Jean did sign and drive the FW14. He must regret that to this day.
6r4 was not banned because it was successful
The grey f1 world champion...poor guy...
Wow,WHY??? Did they blow right past Senna’s car and his accomplishments?.i don’t get it.
Piss off..... No Alan Jones.... No Senna in a Williams championship winning car. Get It? Senna merely rode Alan Jones' slip stream.
He didn't even finish a single race with Williams, what accomplishments are you talking about? Big fan and all but this is a Williams doco not a Senna doco - there's plenty of those already
Might be still a bit raw , poster boy killed in your machine would be a low point for anyone.
If I had a bazillion dollars
The tall guy trying to obscure Alan Jones. Pathetic! Alan Jones is a Champ.
Who's talk guy?
Who's the tall guy??
Darrell Eastlake was a legend, very funny man.
