Very informative and in depth analysis…

    Looks promising
Apart from that it can be even used in flood management as well when water at the upstream of a dam increases then that water can be pulled up and stored by pumped hydro storage plant at its upstream till a certain point.
I think this idea can even be used for irrigation in hilly areas as well by pulling up the water from upstream of a dam located in valley and can be distributed through pipelines to other surrounding areas as well.
But we must ensure that Electricity needed to pull the water up must be cheap. That's challenging.
Is electricity generation possible when the water travels upstream??

The last question is interesting. While I'm not an engineer, I think that while generating electricity while the water is traveling upstream is technically possible, it would mean even more energy to push it upwards through a turbine. So, it'd be economically infeasible.
Using PSP as a tool of flood management may be difficult because the storage tanks would be far too small to hold the flooding waters. In any case, most of the pumped storage projects are closed loop, not connected to a river.
      But thanks for the questions.
      Regards
      Ramesh

@@RameshMatham0507 Thank you for giving time to address my doubts sir.
Other than turbine any other options to generate power while water is travelling upstream?
Yes most of them are closed loop but is it feasible to establish PSPs on upstream of a dam especially in Hilly areas so that water can be used for power generation when dam stores the water.
Even top-up wouldn't be needed when PSPs are established at the water storage end of the dam.

@@SaiPraneethMullapudi Dear Sai, there is no other means to capture the kinetic energy of flowing water than placing a turbin in its path. It is indeed feasible to put a PSP in a dam, it is actually done in many places. But the functions is a hydroelectric project and a PSP are different. While a hydro electric project produces electricity, the PSP only stores the energy.

This technology is very expensive, my HHG is the answer, cheaper and easily maintain.
