An underrated song. Harmonies were very well configured. Especially considering how quickly they put together the songs for the album. The album as a whole, was probably the best pop/rock n roll album of the year.

In the 50's and 60's songs between 2 - 3 minutes got the radio play. Radio stations frowned upon longer songs and could refuse to play them. Radio stations are businesses and playing

I've been listening to this song my whole life and I never before noticed how the chord pattern changes in the final bars. According to the sheet music I found on the internet just now, most of the song is built from minor seventh chords in the key of D, but in those final bars they threw in a B-flat seventh and an A seventh sus chord before reaching the tonic. Neat!
I know. Strange. I wonder if they got bored? If George Martin suggested this complexity? Or were they just bored, learning new chords along the way and throwing them into any song they could?
The final chord sequence is Bm.... Bflat....A9..A6..D. RNB
I think it's more likely that they experimented with adding notes to the chords until they got the sound they wanted. I know Paul often said they couldn't read music and didn't know anything about music theory. I also know some songwriters who don't understand music theory that do the same thing and end up playing many nice chord variations that they don't even know the names of.
By the recording of Tell Me Why, John and George had employed a dizzying array of Jazzy chords in their repertoire. The Dim5/7s in Till There Was You. The Augmented 5 chords in From Me To You and All My Loving. The Maj7 in This Boy. The D7/9 chord in If I Fell. The 9th chord in Chains. The 6th chords in Cant Buy Me Love and Georges amazing AMaj13 chord that opens It Won't Be Long. Those long hours in Hamburg, whilst also receiving tutelage from Tony Sheridan, paid serious dividends to John and George as guitarists. Heck, 'The Sheik Of Araby' damn near has all these chords in it!! RNB

You know the previous commenter was commenting on the harmonies yeah it's so amazing because sometimes harmonies they keep the same pattern going through the melody but with this particular song The modulation just keeps changing it is so well written out and so creative completely different than anything I need sometimes the melody would stay steady while the other harmonies would dip and come up and do different things and it's just pure Magic remember when I was quite younger and I was just absolutely stunned by how genius this particular song is I heard it on the American version album they had these albums that were American versions unlike the English versions where they took songs from other albums and put them on with different records and they ended up with more product so that they can sell more albums the record in question was an album called something new it even had a German version of she loves you you know what what's really amazing is how well engineered and the absolute quality of the pressings from that early era you wouldn't believe how good those records sounded yeah unbelievable it was as if the records were audiophile-quality I mean they didn't want to mess around because this was their number one group selling the most records yeah I love that Gringo drum fill at the start of the song that's pretty funny Google called him a gringo Ringo Starr that is okay my girl
A wonderful rocker and I'm always sorry this early Beatles song wasn't a forever-favorite. Thundering bass line, powerful drum fills, a rockin' piano and a guitar that has it's own place. And the harmonies - not so much harmonies as 'unison singalongs'. It's so much fun.

I agree that the early Beatles music was great and for some reason doesn’t get played as much or appreciated like their later songs. Their early and mid 60’s albums had such great energy and melodies.

They became The Beatles in Hamburg…doing 8 hour gigs 7 days a week for 2 years. It had nothing to do with Best…they were revved up to go as soon as they got back to the UK nothing could touch them.
