Hey mate good video. Weather was not on your side . I'm always float fishing great fun caught plenty . It's all about covering your depth . Rough ground with lots of kelp is a good place to start float fishing for pollock and wrass. What I do is cover my depth so example . Start at 6ft if nothing keep lowering it a foot at a time as soon as you find the right depth it's ding dong. My favourite bait for float is. Lugworm/ fresh makrel . Can't wait to see more .thanks good fishing

Nice one I didn't even know those rocks were there live in Polegate but always fished seaford and Pevensey. Its so draining when you just only catch one. Took the family down to Tide Mills in that heatwave a couple weeks ago hoping to avoid busy beach so I could fish but still busy and no one else fishing, I went for it anyway and bang first cast a decent mackerel felt like a genius for being the only one fishing providing for the family......5 hours later nothing but sunburn and a sore shoulder.

Hi. Same as wicked tuna, but I fish off a pier, over sandy ground, for mackerel. I start at 5ft and alter the depth till I find the fish.
I also use an adjustable cork rig in the choppy weather or fast tides.
The guy catching next to you with the longer rod, I assume using lift and drop method, will have been covering more of the water depth than you on a shorter rod.
Maybe if the sea seemed a bit choppy, I would have tried the other side of the rock arm to see if it was a bit more sheltered and calm.
Bait wise, I generally cut longish triangles off the thin silver belly, hook it twice at the thick end, and leave the pointed end to flap in the tide to try resemble a bait fish. The silver belly is easier for the mackerel to see as it flashes in the sunlight. Just like the bait fish it is chasing.
Sometimes I just use a lead to hold bottom with a set of hockais with mackerel bait on some of the hooks.
These are just my opinions. 🤔
If I can be of anymore help, feel free to ask.
Loving the channel♥️. Thanks for sharing.👍👏
Take care and stay safe. 😷🙊

Love the videos! Recently been to filey beach east Yorkshire and seen a few people fishing, looks so much fun. I'm just wondering where can I get the telescopic rods from? I tend to use ultralight on canals but want to give sea fishing a go 😁

Not good conditions for mackerel! One mackerel is enough to fish for hours -it's very tough bait and you should get 20 strips easily from one fish.
The best day floating I had was on the East pier at Newhaven. I had 55 mackerel and 24 GARFISH. (Not counting the fish I lost) It literally never stopped.
Sadly I doubt those days will return. Good video and keep at it - try when it's calmer. 😊

I have been there twice this month and there is no fish there. Only catched 2 macrells from the beach 🏖️. Seaford is full of fish. Go there. Good luck.

This is best spot mate, you should definitely fish the other side, it's much flatter conditions and I personally do all my fishing the harbour side,
Just be respectful of in and out going boats. ( always a idiot that comes far to close whilst your fishing so be prepared to quick retrieve)
Bass always on the harbour side . Floating better on other side but it's difficult due to high current.

Thanks mate I will try the harbour side it does make more sense to fish the calmer side also the second rock arm Pevensey side is good too :)

Your cutting the bait wrong and hooking it wrong too, you could also use frozen sandeels if you learn how to hook them
