The thing about this I don't understand is that according to these dates, Laura fudged their ages and the order of the books. If they were here in 1869-1871, that means Laura and Mary were 2 and 3 yrs old. She makes out as if she was 5 or 6 and LH on Prairie is amazingly detailed. How did she remember events so clearly or even crawl across the floor to get Mary water when they were sick? At 5 or 6 , maybe but not a 2 or 3 yr old. Then after their return to Pepin in 1871 that would have made her 4 which lines up with the book and Baby Carrie has been born. So Big Woods comes second. How does she remember everything so clearly?

Thank you for watching and commenting. Those are all very good points.
Some people think that Rose was the one that wrote the books and put her mother's name on them. I personally don't know any of the answers. I just enjoyed the books, and the TV shows. I still watch them over and over.

@@Adventureswithmeme I as well have watched/listened to a few lectures about the LH fam. and they say the same thing. Well, that they collaborated together and Rose wrote it in that 'Ma said, Pa said, Laura walked over and patted Jack' style that is in the books. Rose was a great writer and a great lady in her time as well and I don't think she would have done anything dishonest.

Also an interesting thing to note is that The First Four Years (which was Laura's voice) is completely different. She sounds like an ordinary person now, Almanzo is always 'Manly', no one is given actual names, it's always, the doctor..the hired girl....etc. And Ma , Pa, Carrie etc. are called , the home folks TBC

It's my belief that if she had been able to get around to re reading and writing the second draft, she would have fixed these things and added more color and details but alas that was not to be. Also, (and this is my conjecture) if that book was called The First 4 Years (what if) she had been planning a series? The Second Four Years.... and then a a book version of On the Road Home. Maybe THAT'S why she was keeping the journal?!!
Also: sorry for going on, but I'm a writer myself so I love thinking about these things.

That's pretty cool. I remember I couldn't wait to watch it! I enjoyed the way they talked, and how it was all about family. Simpler times in a lot of ways, but scary at times as well.....

Where did ma and pa sleep

I guess the bed on the left with the small bed at the end for Carrie. This is a replica so maybe they wanted to keep room for people to walk around, so they made that bed small. I don't see how Ma and Pa could fit in it.
Thank you for watching and commenting.
