    Hi.
    Today I have made the height calibration on my Epiphone Les Paul Vintage Edition pickups thanks to your video tutorial.
    Thanks friend, your knowledge has been helpful for me and I saved time and money in luthier services.
    Thank you so much.
    Cheers from Argentina 🇦🇷💙🤍💙

    I'm so happy about all these set-up videos, they are excellent, and so professional! Thank you, very much!
    One thing I believe is missing... Is a good video on how to adjust and set up the Tremolo system on a Strat. That would be really great to see!
    Keep up the excellent work!
    All the best.

    Im no Expert at all, but one thing I always do after setting the height is play the G string open and listen if it lowers tone quickly or deadens. My experience, the pickups can sound “right” playing chords but you can find some individual (and I think G is most susceptible) strings can be dampened by the magnet pull?

    What is the model of Gibson Les Paul Standard in the video? It's a beautiful guitar. What year is it? Is it any special edition with a natural top? It looks like the maple top is one piece.

    Bow would you adjust this if you have raised action and only plan on playing slide. I would need yo go closer right?

    • @MusicNomadCare
      @MusicNomadCare  Год назад +2

      For playing slide you will want to raise your pickup closer to your strings to achieve the tone you're looking for

    A gud starting point is a USB osciloscope. They cost ~$80. (gauge set ~$20). So not that expensive.
    And if you have a large collection of guitars and/or P.U.'s you want to setup (or test). Then this is by far the best tool you can buy.
    Learn how to work with a scope elsewhere though. This isn't the spot to explain it.
    Simply put: Set your P.U. height just so that you get the highest amplitude. The loudest position is without stringpull = the perfect spot.
    This will give you a lifetime of correct setups. No measuring with gauges or having to put on glasses.
    The scope will tell you EXACTLY where it should be.
    (P.S. not all P.U.'s will be perfectly set when using a standard "gauge" dictated setup)

    Great video but there are some factores you must consider how much out or in are the pole pieces. If you measure from pole piece to bottom of the string the pole piece height matters for the final output.

    • @MusicNomadCare
      @MusicNomadCare  2 года назад +2

      Our measurements we give you are the most common measurement for a great sounding and playing guitar. Your pole pieces can be adjusted individually for your specific playing style and instrument sound.

    Go to a hobby store and get hard balsa or basswood sticks in 1/8", 3/32", and 1/16" thickness and 3/8" width. No need then to put sharp-edged, magnetized steel near your pickups.

    What`s your recomendation for Dirty Fingers pickups bridge and neck? thanks

    • @MusicNomadCare
      @MusicNomadCare  2 года назад +1

      we recommend you start with the specs we provide for the Humbuckers and you can dial it in from there. Since the pickup is known to be hot it may need to be raised a little bit depending on your playing style. You can always email our guitar tech at tech@musicnomad.com for more question or information.

    Hey 👋 there how do you address the issue whereby there is no distinction between the neck position and the middle position mixing both neck and bridge I have LP style 335 style and LAG & PRS SE Santana all with dual Humbuckers none of which has a distinguishable in tone when switching from neck to middle position can you advise 🙏

    Does pole piece height matter?

    • @MusicNomadCare
      @MusicNomadCare  7 месяцев назад

      Great question! You would measure from the top of the pole piece to the bottom of the string. Feel free to reach out to tech@musicnomad.com to discuss your specific instrument needs/questions further. Thanks!

      Screw in polepieces so slots are flush to cover. Tape over the screwdriver's end to prevent scratches.

    Why is it measured by holding down the string? Wouldn't it be better to measure from where the string actually is?

    • @MusicNomadCare
      @MusicNomadCare  10 месяцев назад +1

      That is part of the KISS method. The Kiss method is based on measurements holding down the string for relief action and pickup height. The fret wire is a fixed reference point.

      @@MusicNomadCare That makes sense, thanks for the reply and the video. I used your instructions to adjust my pickups. my neck pickup sounds much better now! My bridge pickup I think I need to replace it. They are super old so probably time for an upgrade anyway. I used that measuring tool you guys sell it's awesome. I plan on using it to lower a bridge on my classical guitar

    Great instructional video, however it would have been better if your end playing sample was done clean and not so distorted.

    I really dont get why americans work with inches.... its sooo much easier to just measure out 15 mm for example. to even SAY the inch measurement in my mouth is a task itself.

      yeah its dumb. but here in canada its mixed. everything is metric except for height and weight. weight is mixed and depends what you are measuring. really weird shit. like i cant even picture wth 5 kg is but 5 pounds i know exactly how much that is. 5 miles? no idea how far that is but i know 5 km. but you switch to height and cant tell wtf 160cm is.

      I am American but I still agree with this. I also really only use Celsius which is pretty confusing to everyone except me.

      It will always be that way. We we’re going to metric system decades ago but stayed with inches, feet etc.

      I came here to say the same thing. I don't understand why anyone would still use Imperial Measurements. I am Canadian..so while we use metric, imperial is still hanging on in some areas. My gf also uses metric..but still uses Imperial for cooking and baking. She says that metric is too percise for baking. That sounds absolutely insane to me..because you would think that u'd want things as percise amd accurate as possible. But i am a terrible baker and she is great...so i won't argue w her about it. But yeah...imperial doesn't seem to have any positives to me.
