    Back in the ‘60’s, we used to call the pickup selector switch the “rhythm/lead switch”, because that is how it was used. The difference in volume between the pickups was actually a desirable thing. The only foot pedals in common use were fuzz and wahwah.

      Makes sense. I noticed George Harrison used the selector switch a lot.

    This is my first time actually adjusting truss rod and pickups. The guitar I'm working on is a real peice of work LOL. I received mine that was made straight from the assembly line straight to packing. It's not touched by human hands. Everything has to be adjusted on that guitar. It's a humbucker andSSS also. It's a Glarry!!!!!

      I'm lucky this isn't my first guitar because I wouldn't have anything to play. I'm learning how to do just about anything there is involved in a guitar. That's the way my budget guitar arrived.

    Should you screw the individual pole screws flush to the pickup cover before you start?

    • @MusicNomadCare
      @MusicNomadCare  7 месяцев назад

      You adjust the bass side and treble side of the pickup first. The individual pole pieces can be adjusted after that to help string balance if needed. You don't need to move them first. They may not need to be moved at all.

    Do you guys have a video dedicated to how to use the "String Action Gauge" ruler? That would be VERY helpful because I'm a little confused on how to read some of the measurements. I have almost every tool of Music Nomad and I've been learning over the past 1-2 years how to work on my own guitars as I've literally never focused on doing so as I'd rather sit and practice guitar, but now I have 6 guitars and it's worth learning. Plus, I'm actually interested in learning now...thanks so much! :)

    I’m very puzzled and confused on where the correct measurements are I mean there’s nothing telling me where the 3/32 is or 1/16 is like no direction it’s just confusing.

    • @MusicNomadCare
      @MusicNomadCare  2 года назад

      On the inches/fraction side for the pickup ruler, 1/16” is the second line from the bottom and 3/32” is the third line from the bottom.

    Thanks for your informative video. I have a problem with a guitar that I have NEVER heard addressed in all my years of playing. (9 years). I have a solid body mustang style guitar with 2 single coil pups. Both of them need quite a bit more upward adjustment to get into the optimum height zone. BUT. I have them raised now to the point where the compression springs are fully compressed and the pups are still WAY too low! Tomorrow I will remove those compression springs and draw the pups rite tite against the underside of the pg. But I'm not optimistic that I will gain enough height to achieve the optimum. Have you ever encountered this??

      Can your bridge saddles be lowered? this would put the strings closer to the pickups. If they can be lowered but the action is then too low, your neck might need a shim to put it in proper alignment.

    My pickups are tightened as far as they can be and there's still 3/4" space between the pickup and the string. Any solutions? Different springs or height screws? Deeper cavity? Anything? Pretty sure it's the pickups because the old ones had no problems.

    I’ m a little puzzled. Watching your very interesting articles on setup. I was surprised at your setup heights for the nut. If I. Heck my guitars the pick up height from first to second fret is about .15 mm (.006”). The nut height when I purchased was about .5 mm and all the first frets were #. I decided to lower the nut slots to give a first fret clearance of.25 mm and .3 mm on top 3 strings ( I have no files available to make any lower). This makes the guitar much more playable and I have no # first frets. My guitars are epi 335 and 339 and a squier strat. My learning is about 1 year. Slow learner!
