The last items are one part of the reloading tools for shotgun shells. different sizes for different gauges. What you have is the base, with a hole through it, so you can punch out the used primer. The parts that you are missing are the deprimmer/plunger tool, the shot and wad guide, and the priming tool. I own a couple of the complete sets, and still use them today.
I think reloaders often used wooden roller skates wheels for that.
They just happened to be perfect for it.
The can opener is actually a P-51, not a P-38. It's bigger and stronger than a P-38 with a bottle opener.
Bigger, not stronger.
I know P-38 is so named because it took 38 cuts to open a can. Does a P-51 take more than the -38? Still have my late husband's Vietnam Era P-38 on my keyring.
I've never been to America in my life but even I instantly recognised that as a can opener.
Measure them; the p38 and p51 are nominally overall length in millimeters, but imported copies arent always so.
Always called a john wayne
After my Military service, I have carried the P38 daily... never without it, and millions of uses, just gotta think outta the "CAN"...
Last item: My husband guesses roller skate wheels.
Pretty sure the last one is different size Woodies. Rollerskate wheels. They make it easier to slide on your skate. Still available today. google Sure Grip's OG wood wheels. Vintage roller skate boots had wooden wheel available.
look more like the brakes that go on the toe of the skate.
Nope, Roller skate wheels. Peace ✌️
@@johnpoole2912 Sorry, You lose, THanks for playing, please enjoy your copy of the home game.
@@UrBasicGuy
But those weren't made from wood were they?
@@kirkstinson7316 I dont think those in the picture are wood, just kind of resembles it. Im thinking rubber and cork. And hell roller skates are older than me so maybe at one point they used wood? Don't honestly know but as i said i don't think any of the ones pictured are wood.
6:40 My husband got one of these in the Navy in the 80s. It's a can opener. It still opens today's cans.
I still have several P-38's handy 😁
The P-38 was called that because it took 38 twists to open the standard ration can BTW.
COOL, My dad had one on his key chain for decades, Nam era and I know I saw one or more still in the original packaging in some box or drawer not long ago.
I still carry one damn handy
@@user-wm3bf7pi3u I used to have one on my keychain for years, I got tired of it constantly poking me in the leg.
Field ration eating device is the Aussie version which has a completely useless spoon on the blunt end. Usually referred to as FRED or f***ing ridiculous eating device😂
@@gregorywildie37 When I was in the service I went to a school that was completely computerized, we called the Computer FRED, Freaking retarded Educational Device. All it really did was grade our tests.
I watch these practically every day! So much fun!
Thanks!
I have one of those can opener. It still works.
I was thinking roller skating wheels
Agree
My grandmother kept only a K-ration can opener around her farmhouse. She was very much a minimalist.
I still carry a P38 on my key ring and use it occasionally. I used them a lot when I was on watch in nam.
The Brass spring loaded "cutting " tool is a Cigar cutter/ trimmer.
The last look like wooden rollerskate wheels from the 50s and earlier, before the poly wheels were introduced.
That’s my guess too.
That's cool, the vintage skates I had as a kid had metal wheels
The puck like objects resemble the 'feet' or coasters attached to the base of sofas and chairs. Size, material colour and screw hole size difference reminds me what my brother used in the 70's in his upholstery firm.
Yes, the NL Co item is what was refered to as a 'pug' of lead. Harmeless enough, use it as a door stop etc. don't handle it too much. Perfectly safe the way it is.
The sheet iron was called a mangle because if you weren't,t careful you could get your hand caught between the roller and bar and it would mangle your hand.
The last ones are paper roll plugs used to protect the cores of paper rolls. I worked as a paper maker for 15 years and have driven in thousands of them over the years
My father's battalion of Basuto Pioners, had a gig at one point of delivering, during WW2. Rations from both The British Army and Septic's Army Quartermaster's stores. He was paid in cigarettes and good American Whiskey, to divert British Compo rat packs to them, because of the general horribleness of "C" Rats. Then there was a whole barter system with the local Italians, to get corn meal for his guys, and they enjoyed the whiskey of course.
The cigar cutter (I got that one right!), I could easily make a very nice gravity knife off of that frame. It's near perfect!
I love these videos! My brother and I share them with each other and compare notes on who got more right. He's 3000 miles away from me and it's always so much fun to talk about the odd items with him. Keep them coming!
That is awesome!
I have my late father's military can opener on my key ring. I think the P-51opener is the one with the bottle opener bigger like the one you showed us. I believe the one I have is the P-38 with out the bottle opener, and smaller there are some writing on mine that says U.S. koolaire 1951.
I see things people find that they don't know what they are which reminds me of horror stories of people who end up with radioisotopes after x-ray machines end up in the scrap stream.
In the late 60's as a kid, there were public service advertisements on Saturdays aimed at kids on identifying blasting caps and explosives, because in the south Louisiana boom and bust business of oil and gas, companies would come and go and lose track of seismic blasting devices. "If you see this, don't pick it up. Tell an adult."
You have to wonder what might be floating around out there.
Got the cigar cutter and the P38 can opener!
I agree, they look like roller skate wheels.
The cylinder with the cloth on it and elect wires is for pressing clothes . The one my other had she called a clothes mangle. It worked swell. Mom put me in front of it with a basket of clothes , "let me know when you finish , I have more". Gee thanks mom!
I GOT THE P-38 FROM DADS STUFF FROM VIETNAN
to me those last items are the knobs of doorstoppers, they are attached to the door and keep it from banging on the wall.
Wheels for early roller skates. Probably made for George Washington! 😂
When he wasn't skating with them, he used them as teeth.
I have two bags full of P-38s and the larger P-51s
The mangle got it's name because that is what it would do to your hand if you got it caught in it.
6:30 holy moly, you were in high school 100 years ago? :)
Last items appear to be door stops. Screw them to the floor to stop doors banging against walls.
They maybe for the bottom of some furniture items
Military can opener i have one i use it all the time
The Australian version of the 'Rat Pack' can opener had a spoon on the end and was known as a FRED, F.....g Ridiculous Eating Device
pretty sure those last items are roller skate stoppers (brakes), attaches to the tip of the skate.
Everyone is saying they're wheels, but I agree with you--I think they're stoppers for the front of the shoe/skate.
Last items sort of remind me of something to do with an old typewriter, like the end caps for the rubber roller. maybe for an old wringer-washer? No idea lol! As they're wood that rules out electricity, the indented side may have held a bearing. This was a fun guessing addition, got 3/6.
OMG, that was my guess when it came up!
(The hat shaping tool)
A pretty good day, I knew a fair number of them. No idea on that last mystery item though.
the ironing machine looks like a great idea, why did it fall out of common use?
They weren’t called a mangle for nothing. If you weren’t careful you caught your hand in them and could do yourself some serious injury! Big industrial mangles have safety bars to help prevent injuries.
At least I got the can opener, this time.
Totally throwing out a wild guess here, but is it possible those are wooden "molds" for making shank buttons?
I keep seeing roller-skate wheels but I was thinking some type of replicable jig for lathe type applications.
Those look like roller skate wheels we had in the 50s.
The last three items are wooden roller skate wheels.
I recognized the iron and the can opener in an instant! My grandma had the iron (fully functional) and my dad gave me the can opener on a key chain. You can p buy them today. They were army issued.
Who else whistles along to the tune at the end?
the last item rollerskate wheels
Can openers like that were found in ration packs the world over. I have a collection from my time in the British army and la legion etranger.
That looks like roller skate wheels or casters for something
old roller skate wheels with out the bearings
The last item looks kind of like old style skateboard wheels
I thought they are roller skate wheels.
@@Suehuskins something like that
The last was roller skate wheels
The final items are pump leathers/ piston seals.
Paper roll plugs
lol, onion for scale
Yeah, whatever happened to bananas?
the metal with the folding sharp bit is a can opener.
A doufler lol(a name for something you don't have a name for)
No bananas?
Antique roller-skate wheels?
The last items look like electrical insulators
Agreed, cork insulators I believe
My bad, porcelain, not cork...sorry
They look like wooden rollerscate wheels
I hate it when you leave us hanging on one at the end of the video.
Looks like wooden roller skate wheels
Roller Skate Wheels.
Oh my gosh I said old roller skate wheels ! If I guessed right , yay me!
The last item (3 round pucks) are used in reloading of shot gun shells. Each size represents a different gauge. Most likely 10, 12, & 20 gauge shells. They were used to protect the primer from detonating when pressing in the powder & shot. These are for the old style hand reloads. New reloading, from the 50s onwards used metal hand operated machines which had it built in.
👁👁 Happy to drop by 8:46
Last item looks like wooden roller skate wheels from 1940’s
Your mom had one growing up.....what did she feed it? 😂😂
👍🤣🤣🤣
The last item looks like roller-skate wheels.
Can opener
Hat steamer
Biggesr John Wayne I've ever seen.
The last item is a photographic contact printer. The developed negative and the print paper would be sandwiched and held flat on undef the cover.
😳 Wait.. WHAAT!?🤭 @ 6:30 “”I used one of these when I learned photography in high school 100 years ago’’
I have many questions..❓Namely , what’s this persons secret to living & being on an internet thread at approx 116-118 yrs of age!?
AND… @ 2:23 the a.i. claims ‘HE’ himself prefers the ‘’V’’ notch cigar cutter, because after a long day of using it’s a.i. voice it LOVES to fire up a stogie, I’m just confused how it lights & smokes a cigar, but I’m just a simple gal that certainly doesn’t have a clue how a.i. enjoys its free time. 😂😂
MY GAWD is that what *MY* sarcasm looks like?????

Well, I'm sure to him, as well as me, it feels like high school was 100 years ago, but kidding aside for me it was only ... let's see ten, twenty, thirty, ... 46 years ago. We had two dark rooms. The little one for studio/art photography, and then the big one that could handle the large format negatives used by the printing class. All long gone and obsolete these days. It was quite the hobby or profession.
This video seemed to go on for a longer period of time for some items. Hopefully its not a new thing. Brief description is good.
Looks more like a last for making shoes, hence the last one left
A can opener and a hat steamer, I just saved you 8:46.
