The seller was confused with ur question because nonmuslims r free to eat or drink anytime. To see Anna wanting everything is rather amusing. If u tried fasting for a day, u ll find eating iftar a n eye opening experience. God promises happines for those who break fast after a whole day of restraint n reflection. Hi guys…i be been following u since ur vlog in Penang my hometown…i wished i could hv shown u guys more wonderful foods and local delicacies since Penang is foodies haven.. but hopefully u will find more n more delicious food in ur journey in this country…saying that i do like to comments on this video -
    1) The ‘bagedil’ that u guys bought are the snack type ie a tofu stuffed and deep fried..i believed what Anna is looking for is the mashed potato n meat bagedil which normally the sell with rice…and i think the second stall selling bagedil is the one u were looking for.
    2) the first piece that u eat in this video is not bagedil it was Vaday or Vadie..indian snack or ‘desert’..made of lentils
    3) You can eat at anytime during the fasting month since u r not Muslim…just that it would not be appropriate to eat in front of a fasting person..but i m sure they dont mind.
    4) If u r not sure you can ask them for recommendations..for example the satay u had if eaten with peanut sauce (kuah kacang) and with the rice cake or ketupat (the white pillow shape ‘rice’ and garnish with cucumber and onions would be nice and authentic -btw that satay you bought is cheap RM1/ piece..we cant find that price nowadays.
I m sorry for a long comments…but i cant help it since i m a foodie myself…and as Malaysian i have to say that am proud of our food culture.
P/s: If u r going to KL later dont miss going to Taman Tugu for jungle trekking…its nice and i thnk it is up keep by Malaysian nature society or something ..they even tagged the trees and its name.

Bravo, you got the bergedil this time! The fried food you had before bergedil is called vada/vaday/vadey (more flat looking, made of chickpeas and spices which tastes a bit like falafel). The next time you visit this bazaar, maybe try “lemang and rendang”. Lemang is rice cooked in bamboo over fire. And lemang is best eaten with rendang. If you scroll this video to between 22:22 and 22:25, you will find these two items 😊☺️ Lemang and rendang are two must-have items for the Eid festival.

For Begedil have 2 type- potato begedil and tofu begedil. I think u buy the tofu begedil. And the crispy 1 that u eat is 'vade' indian snack make from dhal.
For rice u buy is Nasi tomato (tomatoes rice) different with biryani rice. Tomatoes rice prepared with Ayam masak merah( chicken with red sauce) and Biryani rice come with curry (goat/mutton/ chicken/ beef). Nowadays, many people like eat biryani rice with goat/mutton curry.

I think you guys shud ask the seller how to eat the things u bought also... yes the johor laksa must mix with the creamy fish broth.. the "tauhu begedil" come with black sambal sauce..but it quite spicy.
And this time you bought a Tomato rice with chicken not beriani rice.. anyway happy eating and hunting again tomorrow. 😅😅

Laksa Johor (Johor is a state, a member of the Federation of Malaysia) is a food that is born out of the royal kitchen of the Palace of Johore. It is said that the recipe was designed by The Sultan of Johore (not the current one but one of his ancestors) to compete with the other kind of Laksa from the other states.
Traditionally we don't use spaghetti for Laksa, we use white rice noodle for that, but it's decided that spaghetti would work better with the gravy, the gravy sticks better to the spag.
The gravy is kind of a fish gravy. It's considered a luxury nowadays because the fish used is pretty expensive and takes lot of work to prep.
Johoreans take pride in preparing and serving the Johorean Laksa. The presentation has to be very good. The cucumber is cut (traditionally) in spiral shape for best effect and for that one must use fresh cucumber.

@@dananna8614 You can have it either way :) It would still be Laksa Johor.
It's the kind of food that is hard to find one made yummy, but once you met the right cook, you'd refill your bowl 7-8 times.
