Now, THIS is why Theater Talk was Theater Talk. What a treat to see, and what a record of the nonesuch that was Mary Rodgers. Thank you VERY much for reminding us.
I'd have liked to have heard more about Mary Rodgers' career and fewer well-known anecdotes about her father (of whom I am a huge fan, however). I thought it was remarkable that when asked about her father's songwriting process, she recited almost word for word what he used to say himself.
I didn't know she wrote the music for "Mattress"! I remembers her column with her mother, Dorothy, in the Ladies' Home Journal. It was an advice column called Of Two Minds.
Michael Riedel and his nasty, disparaging questions. "Did your father help you write the music?" "Was you father bitter about being seen as antiquated?"

Her memoir “Shy,” is absolutely incredible. I feel as though she’s talking to me and she is outrageous. I’m sad to say goodbye.
Miss these talks!
I loved Mary. It was hard not to instantly fall in love with how adorable, forthright and warm she was. Thanks for this!

Let’s see some more critic sessions with the gang (Jesse Greene, Musto & Company)! I’m tired of binge watching them I need some new content :)

Mary was young then and much more progressive thinking like me.

Throw back Wednesday, hmmmm? Fun one to see; like many an actor, have done "Mattress" in my time!
