Locomotion was released in Australia mid-1987 and was Number One for 7 weeks. Shortly after it was released in Japan where it was Number One for 12 weeks. Meanwhile Kylie recorded "I Should Be So Lucky" in England in 1988 and it was Number One for 5 weeks, and then Locomotion was released as her follow up song. By that stage Kylie had become a phenomenon.

I was in the audience for this performance. Each of the YTT members sang a song with a brother or sister. Danni Minogue was a huge star back then and Kylie was not all that well known. I remember thinking during the performance that Kylie was singing better than Danni, it was almost uncomfortable to watch. All the other brothers and sisters were pretty mediochre, but when Kylie came out and sang she really showed Danni up.

I have seen many YTT performances from Danii, and must say: - while she was (and is) a very talented singer-dancer, - the sorrunding adults made too strong effect on her, and she couldn't figure out, how to show up her own musical instinct freely. What a shame! - Kylie, on the contrary, is instinctive and well controlled from the 1st second, and she was who told what and how to be done. Without this attitude "Locomotion" would never be a hit!
gosh i miss YTT in the 80's - used to watch them in my toddler years....and i still remember their names: courtney, vinnie, danii, nikki....just to name a few

This was 1986 - the year before Locomotion was released. Kylie actually appeared on YTT performing the song when she released it.
