My First V12 Lamborghini Experience Was This Insane Murcielago SV!

- Today I'm driving one of the best known Lamborghinis of the modern era - the mighty Murcielago SV. A runout model, Lamborghini threw everything at this car to make it one of the maddest and fastest of its day. With 670 horsepower from its 6.5L V12, it was the final application of the incredible Bizzarini V12, which debuted five decades earlier.

ain't nothing better than an orange Murci
Amen
Try baby blue.
@@slavirusinov5021 nah bro orange and black always
Yellow
One of the all time greats. I'd have one of these over the Aventador SV. This is a complete monster
I love Italian machinery but Italian priorities are:
1)Looks
2)Performance
20)Practicality
well you don't buy a Lambo to go to the Supermarket ofc lol
Yeah, they design it.... then just as it's ready to roll out the door, someone remarks..." em....where does the driver sit ?"
100) Reliability
It’s basically a less practical Avantime
I was just thinking that lmao
Renault Avantime?
I remember watching this on top gear in 2010 racing against the SLR 772, thinking "what a machine"
It really is truly amazing. Bucket list kind of stuff.
"what a machiiiiiiiiine" - Jeremy Clarkson voice
great ep ruclips.net/video/_edoyfKC_lY/видео.html
I'd love the SV but I'd take the SLR 722, it was the perfect marriage of McLaren and Mercedes engineering, unique for its time
Watching that episode as a kid and seeing the bright orange lambo racing through the desert was when i first realised that i loved cars
SLR 722 over it for sure!!
A chap I know who lives just up the road from me has the LP670 SV - it’s a beast. His is all black and menacing - his is left hand drive but it does live in the U.K.- There are a few videos of Glen’s Murcielago on RUclips, even Shmee follows it in Piza, Italy in one of his early videos. By far my favourite Lamborghini - though I don’t fit in it being 6’5” - you can find it by searching V12WOO
Utterly pointless, utterly impractical and utterly, utterly magnificent!!! Thank you to all involved.
It’s a glorious experience isn’t it, my wife bought me a drive lots of different cars at thruxton thing for my 30th birthday back in 2005, I drove an RX8, SLK350, F360, 911 turbo and the crowning glory a merciélago which I think at that time had 600 horsepower, the 911 turbo was outstanding but the Lamborghini was on another planet. I grinned my way around the 4 laps I had in it and my wife says I didn’t stop grinning for a week. Things have moved on leaps and bounds since then, especially when it comes to flappy paddle gearboxes but what a car.
Same age
I do believe a manual gearbox was offered but only six or so were actually produced. If they do go up for sale i would imagine they will be at a heffty premium.
Yes, 6. All LHD.
@@nathanrunciman88Great !
And allegedly one of those 6 was crashed. So only 5 left.
@@MrPTManning It was rebuilt.
@@MrPTManning Ben Chen is the guy's name and he's the one who wrecked the mirage gt too. Also bottomed out in a clk gtr, guy needs to stop driving
Don't care how old these are they still look and sound amazing
I was planning on writing something really witty, but all I can seem to muster is, you lucky, lucky bastard😂😂😂
One of my top5 cars ever
Really?, not even my favourite lambo
Stephane Édouard ici, surprenant, mais dans le bon sens !
I'm with you there, my absolute favourite lamborghini
Ah Stéphane ! Quel esthète !
Whats your top 1
it was brilliant to have you over to film the Murcielago SV
I hope you still have it. What a wonderful machine.
Your first V12 Murci experience and you go straight in at 11. Nice one fella 👍🏻
A true Lambo SHOULD scare you. Dramatic looks, Intimidating to drive, and the chance it could burst into flames whenever you least expect. A thrilling monster.
That 'high channels on sky' analogy was Clarkson worthy my good man, what a fantastic channel this has become. I recommend it to all my car loving friends, you really are my favourite automotive reviewer and i wish you every success.
Very kind words
Best looking Lamborghini ever. Aventador is too fussy and too many awkward lines...the murci sv is spot on. Great video.
Manual (and wingless) Murcielago SV is probably must have in "Dream 5 car garage".
100%
I like the wing. Murc SV without the wing somehow felt like getting a bald haircut.
Weirdly I don't feel the same about GT3 Touring, though. Just me being weird perhaps.
May as well just go for a manual LP640 then 🤷♂️
Saw a Murcielago once - so unbelievably low and flat, flying saucer-like. Sounded like a jet fighter at about 20mph. A Gallardo was following and it went by with a whisper
the greatest Lamborghini ever made.
Murcielago SV is the only thing i want in my life 🧡
Awesome video - Love the Murcielago SV 😍
James, as my favorite car reviewer, I'm shocked you didn't know that the sharpened windows are for cutting grapefruit, oranges, etc. into halves. Many people also use the windows for slicing meats and cheeses. Have a great day!
The world's most elaborate kitchen knife then
OMG! I'm in love with that car!
Even if the windows want to cut your arms of 🤣🤣
At just around the 9 minute mark you can see that this is indeed a very serious car reviewing channel. With absolutely no fun involved just like the Queen intended.
Living the dream Mr Martin ! Fabulous video.
Excellent video, thank you Jay 👍
The sky box analogy was crazy!!!....😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😀🤣
Kudos in your review mate 👏. You used some really clever analogies throughout.
Amazing video on an amazing car, Love seeing that orange and black beauty tear down the roads captured by your filmmaking skills.
16:34 one of the best ways i have seen anyone describe a car
Wow what a machine, dream car. Never seen you so nervous, massive respect
This is going to be a good one
👌🏻, lovely looks & an awesome sound track.
One passed me on the motorway last week and my first thought was "my god, that's wide. I wouldn't fancy driving that on a B road". So I totally get your apprehension on those narrow roads.
Awesome video 👍🏁😉
LP is actually an abbreviation for longitudinale posteriore, that means the engine is mounted longitudinally and behind the drivers
Oh yeah it's big brain time
Jayemm, there are also around 6 manuals sv for the whole world
thats a dream car right there
4 left 2 destroyed , last one that came up for sale was in Canada at 1m USD
If I could afford one, I couldn't say no. Manual SVs are absolutely astonishing
That car is simply epic. Really cool. Good review too.
I also think that the colors of these are actually a safety feature because the visibility is so bad. ^^ At least other road users will be warned.
The Murcielago SV is the final version of the car that had me fall in love with cars, this review sounded like everything I ever dreamed the car to be, great review, currently searching how to sell my organs to rent one for 5 minutes, will settle for a Gen 1 Murcielago with the twin exhaust.
If i remember correctly there are like 3-5 original manual Murci SV's. Enjoyed the video james! Thanks!
Love this car. A lambo V12 (doesn’t matter which one I love all of the V12s except the LM002 that doesn’t count) is one of the few things that could tempt me away from Porsche.
Stuff of dreams! Great video jay ! Bet you see why Jamiroquai has them!!
Having fun are we? ;-) Great video as always!
Thats a cracking analogy at the end 👏 🤣 👍✌
Marvellously marvellous🚗
300k and a blank button? What a wonderful wonderful car. It's what I expect lambos to be, it's a poster car.
Another car I didn't like the look of back in the day, but which I now, with the whole car world gone crazy, rather like.
to me the murcielargo is the most mental, most lamborghini and best looking lambo, the perfomante is the one carrying this spirit.
A buddy had a Merci, he really avoided driving it without a wingman, did many 100 k's in the passenger seat, not till he was about to trade up to an Aventador, and needed to borrow my RS6 Avant, did i get to finally drive it. Definitely takes a long drive, to slow the heart down, and actually enjoy driving it. After driving both, they are chalk and cheese to one another, Merci - Aventador.
They probably put Reverse button all the way out there so you don't accidentally hit reverse when you try to change driving mode.
Love those cars, and the "lambo doors" suit it perfectly
Definitely getting one to go in my dream garage in my dream villa in Tuscany 🤗🥰
Oh how time flies! I remember Richard Hammond driving one of these in Dubai back when they were new. Was certain no car would exceed it. How wrong I was.
I now see what your were talking about that evening about the gearboxes shifting better at full tilt lol
haha i wish i'd got hold of you earlier to do the review on my car since this is where i live! Will have to keep an eye out for the SV, think i mentioned to you before one of my neighbors has a veyron, wonder if it's the same guy?
i recognise that road. It is a good bit of road at night when there is little traffic although watch for the dear along the Bayham straight!
Another brilliant video! What a dynamic drive. I believe the engine was used first in the 1964 Lamborghini 350 GT, a Car Ferruccio created to show Ferrari how to build a Grand Tourer that actually works (he had a lot of problems with his Ferrari and found Enzo unsympathetic). The Miura that appeared later on in that decade was virtually a skunk-works project created by some of his very young engineers (Including Gian Paolo Dallara) which started off the tend of the Marque creating wild Supercars.
Favorite of all time!
I love this car. Was at Goodwood a few years ago and sat in one. The Murci SV was my then 'dream car' which has been upsided by the Aventador SVJ. I love a V12 Lambo...Just subscribed to Richard's channel too.
Not only the most fantastic-looking Lambo ever made but also the best sounding!
You are really lucky! 😍
Richard has an excellent taste. The Murc SVJ & 430 Scud are peak early-2000s SMG performance cars.
Thanks Joel, great cars 👍
I love this car beyond words but they break so often and so easy thier gana be in the shop every week
Seen an SV in he flesh and the heat off the back was hilarious in town. Never seen a normal car kick out that much heat visibly. Nottingham town centre
Has to be in the top 5 best sounding cars
Wonderful car 👌🙌👍
The P in LP actually stands for posteriore which refers to the engine being in the back . Awesome car ! Thank you for making this video .
Mmmm nice nice car. I’d love to see the Diablo gt if you ever get the chance to film and drive one. Saying that the Murci Sv is second best for sure
Literally one of the first cars I would hunt for if I won the euro millions. My favourite lambo ever! He has a scud as well, my favourite ferrari ever as well. Those two would be in my dream garage.
When do you release the video for the red r8? I think it was you when you had to stop behind a yellow Ford transit connect van when it pulling into a drive way.
dream car without a doubt really want one eventually single clutch or manual id take both preferably manual tho
My dream car, I love it
hahaha you're bloody brave driving a murci around those roads round eridge and the forest! I feel brave taking my little mr2 through there at speed..
also if the owner is on here can I have a go please
Wow. Wow 🤩. What a great car. I’m so jealous you got to drive that. Haha 😂. Hope you are well.
I'm glad I'm not only one who doesn't like Alcantara Cheers! 😅
Up there with the Carerra GT for best ever sounds!
Such ashame you didn't get to put her through her paces and create some fire balls but great reveiw non the less
I’ve never seen James so terrified!! Sign of when a car isn’t for you - can’t enjoy it 🤭
that shirt again , great car
Yesssss please
9:00 is amusing to watch. cars that bring such emotions are the best.
“High numbered channels on the Sky box” 🤣🤣
Would have really liked to hear how its Sound full throttle with that larini
There was at least one maybe two manual transmission Mucielago SV 's made. Cats Exotics sold a brown SV with a manual. If I had the money I'd want a manual. This looks like the car Richard Hammond drove in his Top Gear episode in Dubai. Thanks.
8:56 that squeal 😂😂
Ironically this is the most amount of traffic I have ever seen before .lol
I was terrified watching it 🙃
Hope there’s a scud video coming
Still waiting for your huracan and aventador reviews! Somebody please lend him one for review :D
The Mutz, so good Colin McRae bought one the year he became WRC.
One of the lowest mileage SV’s in the world. Number plate melts once every 3 months due to exhaust heat. Mmm okay 😂
Yeah. The worn steering wheel must be due to all that sitting around ...
The current owner bought the car with 3,300 miles around a year ago. 1,000 miles in the year of his ownership isn't that bad don't you think?
The shot of the odometer clearly reads 4,105 miles
Best Lamborghini ever
Lp is longitudinale posteriors, meaning longitudinal behind
This car has aged beautifully.
I never get tired of this car unlike the usual Aventadors and Huaracans
One of my favourite lamborghini's. Great work JayEmm!!
I think I may have said that the MK2 Escort was my favourite... I'd like to upgrade
Best Lambo ever!
Am I wrong to prefer the LP640? Though I'd put SV alloys on it.
