Great video, I've had mine for a couple of weeks and have been slowly tweaking everything as I go. I can say that I did learn 1 thing that I've been trying to figure out, and that was the button assigning part within the app. I have the Ampero Switch and Ampero Control as well, so controlling things has been easy, but now the possibilities are endless. Would be cool to see you do a video utilizing the accessories you can use with Ampero.
I have been the PROUD owner of an Ampero for about 18 months now. Got it open box for $300.00 and in my opinion it is the best bang for the buck on the market. I've played with Helix's, Axe's, and recently a Quad Cortex. Yes, those costing well over $1,000.00 might be slightly better, but not enough in my opinion to justify the cost difference. I can see where they might have an edge in a studio setting for recording, but for jamming or gigging, as I have stated before in numerous other forums, NO ONE IS GOING TO BE ABLE TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE!!! Anyone who is willing to take a little time to learn to program it can make this sound 100% good enough for any live setting and almost any professional recording situation. The only time its expensive brothers will really sound better is in a direct side by sound comparison. Otherwise, no one will ever know the difference. Also Shane, in your comment above you refer to this as the Ampero One, but this is its big brother the Ampero 100
@Mark Seymour The small form factor unit with 3 push buttons is the Ampero One, It's big brother with the 4 push buttons is the Ampero MP100. The larger unit also has much more I/O capabilities. Sound wise they are very compatible. On Nov. 11, Hotone is releasing the Ampero II Stomp which will have a much more powerful processor.
Just purchased the Ampero One. Was looking for a one-in-all effects system for my Glasser 5-String AEX Electric-Accoustic violin that was more portable than multiple pedals. Thank you for the rundown on the larger Ampero, its similar to the Ampero One, but lacks the midi and the extra button.
As always, thanks for the great content Shane! I’ve had my Ampero for about 3 months now and I’m loving it so much!! Nice tip for using the foot switches like a normal pedalboard. I knew that I could do that but never tried it that way before. I’ll try it out like that this weekend. Would love to see some more videos on this unit
Thank you for this. I have a question: How to connect to a combo? I assume its through the fxloop (sender), and bypass/turn off the amp selection on the Hotone. I have a Boss Katana 100 1x12. Hope to get a response. No other video answer this basic question:) Thank you!
Tnx for the great explanation. i have a small question. im using this for my live gigs. but im struggling with the volume pedal psition of the effect chain. its connected at the end of the chain. we can change the chain order except the volume pedal. how can i put it just before reverb and delay effects of the chain? is it possible to do? really appreciate if you can help me to fix this issue...tnx again
very informative - I'm thinking of moving away from my racks to something more portable and started my journey looking at Headrush..leading me to the Pod Go and other units...I'm now attracted to the Fractal audio stuff but stumbled on Ampero during my youtube rabbit hole /research. I really like the sound and features of this little unit, and may actually return it for the new Ampero Stage... curious if you have thoughts about the Stage if you're familiar with it. thanks
Thanks for sharing, Dude.. The sound is nice. However, the appearance / scene for tweaking hotone is poor.. Need a colorful one like the inside of Nux/Valeton multieffects...
I bought one and have a Marshall studio vintage combo, unsure of best way to connect cables. Do I go from guitar to Ampero, and take a cable from output of Ampero into the return of amplifier effects return? Or should my guitar go direct to amp, and have the Ampero going to effects loop return and nothing in the send port? I've never used effects before so I've no idea how to connect it 😂
Great review, thanks!!! I'm curious though, have you been asked about an effects loop? I have several pedals that I would love to incorporate in the signal chain that are crucial to my sound. It would be a cool feature and perhaps there is a way to do that with the aux in somehow...
So it seems that your unit has gapless switching, at least i can't hear the gap when you change the channel. My unit acts differently, did you tweak something extra? I have a gap when switching between channels, even when the same amp is loaded on both.
thanks for this great video! if you model amp and cab on the ampero, do you connect it to a passive studio monitor (because you already have amp in the ampero)? thanks!
Great video and great unit! BTW, I have a question if someone can answer as even looking at the manual I'm not sure and I haven't found anyone mentioning it: can the unit be simultaneously connected to an amp with a guitar cab on the jack outputs and to a mixer on the XLR outputs and having the cab simulation active just for the XLR outputs? I mean basically jack ouputs without cab sim turned on and XLR outputs with cab sim turned on, used simultaneously. For example on a live setup using an amp on stage but rather the mic'ing the cab it would be sending directly to the mixer from the XLR outputs, which demands cab sim on those outputs and no cab sim on the jack outputs. Thanks!
Little question... has anyone tried to plug it in two amps + stereo XLR in the PA? does some hum or other parasite sound appear, and if, does the ground lift cures the problem??
Thanks for this awesome demo! As always very informative. I own a Marshall DSL40CR. I wish it was easier to use like the Mooer. I want to work with the unit though my powercab. I don't want to hook it to the computer. Make a unit I can adjust on the fly at the gig. To complicated. Updating the firmware is a pain and will stress you out. Edit:. So I just bought the Ampero and it's easy to use and I'm modeler challenged. I've been messing with it for about 3 hours. The presets are trash but after I turned off the cabs in the Ampero and use my line 6 powercab with the cream speaker in the powercab it sounded great. Just as good as my Helix floor. Easier to dial in than the Helix. The Marshall was perfect right when I clicked it. Better than the Helix. So far I'm really happy. I got it because I wanted something smaller. I don't record at all. It's just for gigging. I actually can't believe how good it sounds through my cranked powercab.

@Mark Seymour I have an iPad. And on many reviews of the ampero it says it works perfect with the iOS Mac system on iPad but nothing points me in the direction of updating to 3.8 or whatever the update is or how to do it.
Hey Shane. I have a question. I'm testing the Ampero press with the Ampero unit now and I have it hooked up as follows: guitar into press input, output of press goes to input of Ampero, expression out of press going to expression input of Ampero. I am struggling to use the volume and expression at the same time. I tried using a Wah effect but the pedal mutes the signal when I pull the pedal down to zero. I can hear the wah only when I'm pushing up the pedal. Everyone on youtube is advertising that this pedal does volume and expression simultaneously but nobody has demonstrated it. Please help
It's been one of my favorites for a while now. I get asked a lot about these on Live Streams. Mooer makes a good one as well but this is very easy to use and the touch screen is cool too. The Ampero One is another option also.
I got to say I think there is something subliminal about digital modeling that makes it sound artificial compared to a good old fashioned guitar & tube amp combination. Sure in a blind test it might be hard to tell, but all the great blues guitar players, who’s sound I admire, played a Fender or Gibson plugged straight into a cranked tube amp. Albert King, Freddie King, SRV, Buddy Guy, etc Think about Duane Allman, one of the greatest guitar players ever, never used effects and got amazing sounds just from his fingers and slide playing

It seems wierd to me that it has the pedal on the right hand end of the unit.If like me , you're right handed, it is easier to have the pedal on the left end, seeing as how you would be probably using your right foot to operate it.With it on the left you access it easily while standing close to it, without the body of the unit being in the way, especially if you are up close to a vocal mic.If you have the unit below the vocal mic you have to step over the unit with your right foot( no problem for you Shane,) But maybe I'm to fussy--it seems that it would be more convenient, especially if you need to operate the pedal when you need to stay close to the mic;apart from that, what a cool preamp!
But if you look at other similar units....they ALL have the pedal on the right side. I don't know (or can find) a unit that has the pedal on the left side so, it must be an industry standard? I think so.
Don't buy it if you want a good harmonizer effect. It has a lot of lag. I wanted something that could turn my guitar into a bass sound but the lag is so bad it's not worth it
@Mark Seymour Even if you take out the dry sound so you're only listening to the lower octave sound does it feel just as responsive and quick as when you're playing normally?
Only problem with this guy is when he is reviewing a pedal he always has to have that awful spring reverb on...cool if thats your thing but it would be nice to heat the pedal reviewed without that reverb....nothing to do do with this multi fx...just an observation of other reviews..
I hope this video is helpful if you are new to the Hotone Ampero One. This processor pedal has a million features built-in and I covered the stuff that will get you going in the right direction!

@Mark Seymour Even if you take out the dry sound so you're only listening to the lower octave sound does it feel just as responsive and quick as when you're playing normally?
Good for beginners. The reverb unusable. The distortions are junk also
The last thing I want to do to relax, is have to mess around with menus and parameters! Thank f**k for acoustic guitars.
Answer to the statement in the title: don’t.
Buy a headrush.
Headrush speakers are great though I use my ampero through them
I can promise u. This is total junk
It’s pronounced ho-tone
Only problem with this guy is when he is reviewing a pedal he always has to have that awful spring reverb on...cool if thats your thing but it would be nice to heat the pedal reviewed without that reverb....nothing to do do with this multi fx...just an observation of other reviews..
Those presets sound awful
awful????lol i dont think so,maybe are not the best but for sure are not awful.
Great video thank you so much
