WRITTEN IN THE SAND has contemporary relevance. It inspires us to adopt a hopeful and optimistic heart that we can overcome this pandemic. JULIE ANNE SAN JOSE performs her own version of WRITTEN IN THE SAND on GMA7's Countdown to 2021. She is joined by Mr. Christian Bautista, Mr. Rayver Cruz, Mr. Alden Richards and some of GMA's brightest stars. This song was first performed by Ms. Regine Velasquez on December 31, 1999 to welcome the New Millennium.
Special thanks to Ms. Darling de Jesus Bodegon for her initiative to revive this song for GMA7's Countdown to 2021, Ms. Agnes Caballa for her inspiring lyrics, Ms. Julie Anne San Jose for fearlessly agreeing to perform it and GMA Network Inc. for believing in WRITTEN IN THE SAND.

Naku naman oh, pinoy nga naman. Mahilig sa sabong! Let's just put it this way: Ms. San José sang it in her own way, in her own range and capabilities and wanted to entertain us. I see nothing wrong in this performance. On the contrary, I also understand why these critics are off the charts because there was only one who sang this in the entire country and that later on became a proof of standard - but given her capabilities and her technique too. In short, let's just appreciate the music that they bring us! No more hard feelings. After all, preference is objective. Mabuhay ka Julie!

Si Julie na talaga ang bagong reyna ng kantahan sa GMA. Kung ano man ang meron niya ngayon trinabaho at ginapang niya talaga that's why she rose from the ranks. Kaya lang sana GMA will give her the treatment she deserves as an artist. And that includes being given the chance to REGULARLY SING with her co-singers. GMA kasi pacontest ng pacontest tapos tinetengga naman yung mga winners at finalists. Yung All Out Sundays may improvement na kaso di pa din masyado ramdam lalo na sa musical side. For me, the torch is now formally passed on to the current premier singer of GMA! A different version by Julie as a respect to the original singer, RVA. Still and all, the message is the same! As I have been saying, we must look beyond the mere mindset of a fan and learn to appreciate the artistry of each and every singer/artist. Singing is an art and should be not be relegated to a mere novelty act. Comparing singers is like comparing a painting of Van Gogh with that of a Monet.

YET, I salute this woman - Julie Anne, for making us realize that it is not mandatory for a singer to have a very high range in singing to become an icon.
