Holy Moly - I 'm glad you weren't 200 feet up when your battery gremlin struck. I noticed your landing was a little hard, but as I watched, I just figured you were rushing it to get on the ground ASAP. ( Now that was a genuine DEAD stick landing. ) Glad you didn't crunch your Cirrus! I had a similar problem with a battery quitting on an intermittent basis. ( Lucky that I found it while on the ground. ) What I found was that there was a bad solder joint in this pack. I opened the top part of the pack, found the intermittent solder joint, and re-soldered it. It is scary when you wiggle things and the power shuts off.
I have had similar issues with one of my SMC packs, I marked it now since I know it’s #4 and I’m keeping an eye on it. One thing I do do with my adapters is always check that connection joint with those post. I could the difference between dead stick or not. I treat my lipos with the best of care and found that even the top rated ones have a bad one once in a while.
Hey Bill, I just bought a mess of their newish LIPO packs for 4s planes.. Great deal too.. I'm not too worried about the pack itself, but the xt60 connectors on all those packs were a little loose.. no big deal, but something to keep note of..
Will I'm so glad it happened low! Seems like a very easy fix. I know you contacted SMC. I'm sure they will get to the bottom of the connector issue. They may have just got a bad batch. It happens in China more often than folks realize. Great tip. I plan to get some of these so now I know to check that.
I got very luck the lights went out (rx is off...). so low.. That couldve been a sad situation.. Its a PSA for everyone to check those connections.. Especially in below freezing weather..
Thanks good advice and I used those adapters too had one losing contact and did what you did spread them open now I check each one too can't be too careful 🛩🛩🪂🛩👍👍
Wow that was a great investigation into what went wrong. Nice workings out. 👍🏻🇬🇧
Will, glad you figured it out. That was an exciting morning between this and the near miss.....

Initially I was thinking there was a failed solder joint in the pack.. But I was glad it was just a connector issue..
