The point isn't how much its costs to buy. Its about making something, Isn't that why we do woodworking? Could have bought my dining table but I wanted to try and make one. Its about the process and learning. Lighten up people. Great little project.
You can make it from scraps, yes it takes some time, but also fun to make your own tools, and cheap. Where I live, they are quite expensive, and you can't get too many clamps. Love this model, I will definitely make a stack of them. :-D
Dunno if anyone cares but if you're bored like me during the covid times you can stream pretty much all the latest movies on InstaFlixxer. I've been streaming with my brother these days xD
I’ve seen only a few of your videos..... all very nice. I love this clamp! I see where I can vary the clamping with different profiles. You can never have too many clamps. Do you have a video building your disk sander, I’m guessing using a corded 1/2” drill for power? They’re way too expensive to buy a new one & unlikely to find a used one. Thanks also thank you for the detailed demonstration of the clamp. I’ll look up some other videos of yours
Gracias querido, tremendo abrazo
Excellent Spring clamps!!! You can easily charge $3-5.00/ download and that you are offering them for free is unusual today. Thank you for doing that!! These are so easy to make but not many of us have attempted it. For most of us woodworkers 1.- we can't afford to buy the amount of clamps you need for your shop. 2. Making your own items is not only fun,but challenging for the brain. It is creative and clever people like you who share their designs with us that make that possible. I am definitely going to make a dozen of these. I happen to have a lot of 1-2 foot cut offs of hickory, ash, and maple I can make these with. I used the ash for the pads on some bar clamps I welded together. (Another generous you-tuber provided a free PDF plan like you have.)They are all very hard sturdy woods and perfect for these. What was the width of the plywood you use? My boards are 1" and 2" thick. Thanks again for another great video!
Maintaining the proper proportions, would it give a good result on a larger scale? Tanks. Obrigado.
Could make a template and use a copy bit to make a set of them. The spring part seems to be the trickiest. Maybe take some springs out of cheap Harbor Freight clamps. Harbor freight clamps are okay till the cheap plastic breaks.
FELICIDADES.
What type of metal did you use to make the clip spring? I really appreciate you provide all the data so that we can make our tools. May God always bless you. Rogerio (Brasil).
Probably the best/fairest comment. Perhaps even better if combined with the previous one from cedricfilm meaning if you make it make it better than just repeating the plastic ones' shape, make them more custom made, hence more comfortable....
You could heat treat the spring to make it stiffer. Also, I'd use a piece of wire to keep the spring compressed while putting the clamp together, just to make my work easier.
Did you not what the video? He shows you how to make your own VERY easily. All you need to buy is a small length of 1/8" wire/rod and a small section of 1/8-5/16 inch thick steel that you can get on eBay for a couple of dollar. better yet go to the scrap yard and get one. even if it is a bit rusty that comes off easily with 60 or 80 grit sand paper. The whole point of making your own clamps it to keep costs down and the best part is to have some fun! Isn't that the whole point of making and creating things?
Call me stupid, you won’t be the first, but may I ask what was the purpose of those black gloves when cutting your paper templates and other times during the video ? Great clamps btw, and all the better knowing you made them yourself rather just buying some plastic jobies. 👍
I am pro making ourselves our tools but in this case the material you used costs more than the commercial clamps (and I don't count the time and effort).
You do wonderful jobs. Thank you for sharing the procedures and plans.
Glad you like it. Thanks for watching.
Amazing work!!! Simple idea and indeed very useful! Many tks for sharing.
Glad you like it. Thank you for your comment.

You are absolutely right ! Some people can't understand!

Love this model, I will definitely make a stack of them. :-D
If I have to buy e.g. 20 pieces in that size, they will cost me $9 each.
I can make them in different sizes in a few hours.
It's win-win
Sir, your absolutely right!!! The whole point of making your own items if to have fun and to challenge the brain. In my case, aging brain, lol.
Quiet a stunning project, cost/time irrelevant when you can say “I made that” thank you for the video.

I think the ends of the clamp should be coated with liquid rubber to prevent gluing them to a plywood glue up!
Good idea ! Thanks.
kullanışlı ve güzel tasarım. Üstelik doğal.. ahşaptan yapılan her şey bir başka güzeldir. emeğinize sağlık. paylaşım için teşekkürler. Selamlar..
Merhaba, size katılıyorum, ahşap güzeldir, güzel yorumunuz için teşekkürler.

Thank you so much.
Very nice!
Good work.
I don't understand how do you make with river accross the wood, because it's seems smaller than the wood ?
cdlt

Thank you, I used a medium hard, flexible metal.
Is it worth the effort? probably not... But they look much more sexy then the crappy plastic ones... Nice Clamp. And very useful. Greets from Germany.

I coud make it, if I only knew where to find that strong spring ..
Buy a crap plastic one an pull the spring out. The clamp may be crap but the springs are usually okay 👌
