    ℹ️TOTAL Stats ℹ️ 🇮🇲Isle of Man Coastal Walk🇮🇲. 6 Days. From 12th June - 18th June. Walked with Alex Mason @masonalexandra / masonalexandra
From - To: Douglas to Douglas - heading North around the island. Anti clockwise.
Accommodation: 🏕️Camped all 6 nights. 2 Paid camp sites £22 total, 1 free camping and 3 nights wild camping 🏕️
Weather: all days were sunny & warm - apart from the last day when we had a little bit of rain in the morning. But otherwise it was glorious ☀️
🥾Total Miles: 123 (info from my watch)
Total distance of the walk: 98 miles - Average Daily Miles: 20
Total Kms: 198 - Average Daily Kms: 33
    🦶Total Steps: 253,863 - Average Daily Steps: 42,322
    💷Total Costs: £262.50 💷
    Average Daily Costs: £43.75
    💷Accommodation Costs: £22
    💷Total Travel Costs: £109.40 🟰Ferry ⛴️ £99, Train 🚂 £10.40.
    💷Total costs (not travel): £153.10
    Average over the 6 days = £25.51
    💷🍽️Total Food Costs: £131.10
    Ate out 6x - 2x dinner, 1x lunch, 3x brunch
🍽️Most expensive meal - lunch at Dovecote £17.80 (it was that piece of cake 🍰 £4.85 - it still annoys me that I paid so much for a piece of cake!!!)
🍽️Cheapest Meal - breakfast at the Caff, Douglas - £5.20 - awesome breakfast & such a good price!
    🍽️Average Daily food costs: £21.85
💷Only way to reduce costs on this trip - would have been to not eat out. Just resupply from the supermarkets. That would have kept costs down. I spent £75.90 on eating out. £55.20 on resupply at supermarkets.
Subjective feeling out of 10 on:
    😁Enjoyment: 48/60 - average each day 8/10
😩Fatigue: 26/60 - the lower the better. Average fatigue 4/10. Not that tired.
⛰️Ease of terrain: 32/60 - the lower the easier I found the terrain. Average 5/10. Terrain was ok. Not super easy but not super hard. A few challenging bits to make it worth the walk.
📍With the terrain & fatigue numbers. It’s just my personal opinion for me. You have to remember that I had just come off a 500 mile Camino walk. So I was hiking fit and use to doing 15+ miles per day with a pack. My pack was heavier for this trip as I was carrying my camping gear and more food.
Challenges: some parts of the trail were very overgrown. And it was very difficult to get through. It was brambles, thistles, nettles, ferns etc. Which spoilt the fun a little bit. We also need to be careful of ticks. I did find a little tiny tick on me.
So we were doing tick checks every night.
Highlights: it’s a stunning walk. We had beautiful weather. It’s also nicely challenging. But there are lots of options for resupply, cute cafés.
So this is a walk that I would highly recommend someone to do if they’re looking to go for about a week somewhere and have some time out. But not be completely remote and isolated.

Fantastic effort, girls. You found my happy place at the Point of Ayre.

Great video. Enjoyed the scenery along the way. Some of the paths looked difficult with overgrown brambles nettles and whin bush. Seems like path not well maintained. Plus the overgrown hedgerow on the long steps climb near end. Though sometimes that can be an advantage so you have less tourists.
I could not believe it possible to carry so much on your back. I didn’t think that would all fit in a rucksack.
Nice to see the cafes and pubs for food.
Very impressive to cover that mileage round the island.
    Very enjoyable to watch. Thanks.

Another great video, many thanks. Totally agree about the cows - they've only got to chase you once to stop being cute and start being a bit of a worry. Some more very tough days in there - v impressive! So, I love the South West Coast Path - is it on your agenda?

thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. I appreciate it!! The SWCP is on my list - I would love to walk all of the UK national trails in the next few years - hopefully sooner rather than later!!!

Loved watching this again after spending a week on the island in mid May. A fab achievement for you! We had a house overlooking Douglas Bay, near Onchan, so fairly relaxed in comparison! Did bits of the Coast Path, Douglas to Port Soderick, Castletown to Port Erin, Peel to Kirk Michael. We actually sat at the same table as you did in The Dovecote Cafe! We also did a few touristy things as well, steam train to Port St Mary, electric tram to Laxey, the Wheel, and Snaefell, bus to Ramsey. Wished we had walked the Peel to Port Erin bit, looked good, but in the opposite direction to you guys...

@@munroist1 lovely!! I'm a bit behind with the vlogs at the moment. But new vlogs from the TA trail from New Zealand will be coming out in November and hopefully I'll be able to get a few more of the trails I've walked edited and shared as well.

Loved watching the whole walk in one video, Sarah. I felt your pain when you had to wade through nettles and briars/branches and little option but to carry on. How lovely it would be if those stretches of the path could be maintained properly. X

Lol the Isle of Man fish looks remarkably similar to the UK's roast chicken. Was it flying fish?

@@toughgirlchallenges Lol i'm chill about it, just thought it was funny. Not complaining, i subbed and enjoyed your vid. Watched you eating chicken and chips @ 36:26 and then you said you stopped for fish and chips @ 36:42 but my Scouse humour kicked in, soz! I think the chippy was called fish and chips so you're right and I'm wrong lol.
