He sounds like a really smart and knowledgeable man. I think he will do a great job with these kids

Sounds like he should have been the D-coordinator all along.

Can't make that assessment based on a 20 minute presser. Will say we do like his enthusiasm, and sounds like he has a plan for things he wants to focus on early.

What would be nice is to see a defensive player right there as the receiver is trying to catch the ball. Instead every receiver is wide open and not any defensive player around him at all.

That's coaching. A great coach regardless of defense call will tell the DB at snap get up on reciever run at an angle where you can see reciever an the QB. . The DB line up to far back at snap. That's scared coaching 101...

It is not necessarily coaching. If your players can't play press coverage and get beaten off the line quickly, telling them to to jam at the line is horrible coaching. As for "regardless of the defense tell the DB at the snap to get up on the receiver", well, that's ludicrous. Sometimes yes, but that's simply not something you can do all the time, even if you have great man-to-man cover DBs.

I hate the term ‘straining’ ; I never heard Darryl Talley say ,”I strained”… he went out and blew up plays … stain --nah. Play w intensity and discipline.. yes.. but NOT strain..
this coach kinda sound like Brown .Not sure I’m gonna like this . He speaks too much - reminds of a brown-coach

The difference is he’s listened and LEARNED in these 6 years prior. You can hear the knowledge. No go DO it!

stress the other 11 more than they can stress your 11 guys... from straining, to tugging on the ball and punching out the ball ... pressing on every play... the ball is caught and wr needs to bring the ball in towards the body don't allow them to do that... hit them and hit them again... the pass rush needs to get home on every play, so the secondary knows they have set amount of time ... team defense

I think he’ll be a better play caller but he doesn’t sound like a guy who won’t adjust.

I've said for the last several years that we are never ready at the snap of the ball. It's inexcusable.

Would love to see the defensive backs be more physical more aggressive with the receivers coming off the line. Some of those pass plays are all about timing. The qb throws to a spot and the receiver has to get their. Seems like a bump or shove to disrupt that timing would help. The other thing that I absolutely hate is the pro style coverage where the defensive back plays the receiver's eyes and never looks for the ball.

Trash the Tampa 2 cut way back on the Jordan Zone. Get recievers an DB together on drills teach backs to look back see an fight for ball. For years WV pass defense has been team weak link even some of Holgerson years.

So, why hasn't it been working?
If everything is all wonderful and Neal Brown and his system are the greatest things since sliced bread........then why hasn't it been working?
Enough lip service, where are the results?

Athletes that are full of muscles have STRAINED. Athletes that have skinny arms and legs HAVE NOT STRAINED. People's body's DONT LIE. Mike Joseph's players that walk around campus are smaller than the BASKETBALL TEAM. Morgantown High works out harder amd that if from players

Very smart people would ask why Mike Joseph allows all these players to lose all of their muscles? Sean Martain was a monster! He had explosive muscle mass amd power before these KNOW IT ALLS told them they don't need to power lift! Tell that to JAMES HARRISON. RAY LEWIS. All the greats are the OPPOSITE of Mike Joseph amd the sleep studies for 20 yr olds and the stupid rubber bands. White lost his muscle amd now look how much he's hurt. Mike Joseph ruined these players minds!

where is Tony Gibson when you need him. Oh wait, the first bone head decision N. Brown did after getting to WV was to fire Tony. BIG MISTAKE. And the last 6 years prove it

Hilarious. Can't count the number of rips from fans that thought Gibby was terrible (which we don't agree with, BTW).

No way the years Tony’s D was bad we had little talent then we got talent it took time for them to grow. I’m a huge Gibson fan
