Nostalgia trip time! I thought I'd give these another go. I mentioned we'd do some isolated tones in the video - it'll be on the next playtest. I didn't hit record on the computer 😆 I'll do a full pickup test on a separate video. I got mine on eBay but they might show up used on Reverb (linked below). Find the pickups here: 🛒 eBay - ebay.us/BCIODh 🛒 Reverb - tidd.ly/4d3iDeN (affiliate links)
The top end "clarity" you hear is likely just the output and the string pull effect on the harmonics from the more powerful pole pieces. The Lace Gold are lower inductance than the Hot Noiseless. Although the Golds do have a lower Q than an equivalent inductance Fender SC, they should have more high-end extension than the HN set under the same load.
I got a hot noiseless loaded pickguard waiting on a project to put them in. I got them on clearance so it was worth buying and waiting on the right project.
I have a set of those... still have the Beck Build to complete... even got the lefty neck to do it like his tribute to Hendrix Strat he's often played live. You've properly motivated me to get that under way after our road trip around Europe and Guitar Summit in Mannheim, Germany.... now I can't wait to hear how they sound once I complete that build! Great video Shane! You ROCK!!!😎🎸🤘🎶🎵
I put these in my 82 Dan Smith in early 2000s. Had the guitar since 84. Played it all over the place and decided I wanted more punch and got it. Paid over $300 for the set and well worth it. Good to hear them demoed.
I have the newest ultra noiseless pickups in my Fender American Ultra and the vintage noiseless pickups in my Ultra Luxe Telecaster. I really like them. Cool video 👍
I love mine. 😊 I have them in a Mexican strat with a blend pot from Emerson. Great sound and versatile. I paid about $150 USD new a few years back. They sure are creamy sounding.
I had no idea that these had been discontinued. I know they were many players favorite noiseless set, so maybe they were hurting sales of the newer noiseless gen 4 and Ultra noiseless sets that don't sound as good. Oddly, they still make the Vintage Noiseless set, which is just as old, and has been used in the Clapton Signature Strat, ever since the Clapton and Beck models switched from Lace Sensors to these Vintage Noiseless and Hot Noiseless sets
Ah just got a Strat Pro II limited w/ Ebony neck and it has these ‘hot noiseless’ … was not sure about those being special at all… thanks for posting this.
They sounded good. It would be interesting to hear them compared to other pickups, like the latest noiseless ones and the regular Strat pickups as fitted standard. This reminds me, I have a loaded pickguard with custom shop texas specials waiting to go in a Strat!
I've got a set of cunife pickups on mine. I couldn't be more satisfied. At first, I didn't like them. Found them to be a lil bit too much jazzy sounding to me. But then I got used to it and now I love them. Interestingly enough, they're not advertised as noiseless but are very quiet.
Those sound very good 👍. I dismantled a spare generic single coil and wired the coil in circuit with the other pickups. It cut most of the hum and retained most of the sound of the originals. Worth a try if you can't afford a set of proprietory noiseless pickups or just like tinkering. Wiring diagrams are on the net. Search 'dummy single coil noiseless.' 🖖
I just put a set of Texas specials I bought about 25 years ago in my 1st electric squire Strat which has been sitting in my Cupboard forever into my Mexi Strat which has all brass nut and saddles. Thought I remembered them to be bright pickups but the thing screams now. Takes gain like a champ and even the bridge on its own is very useable. Stuff all hum too with full shielding
I got srandburg boden classic single coils and a dimarzio 59paf style in the bridge of my strat. I'm sticking with these till the wheels fall off..luckily there no wheels to fall off
The strandburgs are vintage voiced but high output. Same with dimarzio 59paf. Super hot dimarzio voiced. Modernized strat and les paul tones in one guitar. You are sounding so good in these jams man!
I’ve struggled with most noiseless pickups for a Strat because they get lost in the mix or they lose that fender sparkle/chime particularly in the 2/4 positions
I ordered the Lace Golds after seeing your other video! Are you still happy with them? I am not sure if I’m going to like them or not but I can’t stand hum.
They are great, but they aren't totally noiseless. They are going to go into another guitar project coming up later this year. I might even switch them back into this and move these to the other guitar, I'm not sure yet.
Put vintage noiseless in a 1997 Strat Plus way back when Jeff and Eric changed from Lace sensors. Great for live. And never listened to the naysayers they are killer.
In all honesty, I don’t have an ear for pick up differences outside of ones that cancel hum. I guess it’s in the ear of the player. I hope you do a follow up video after playing live to see how they have held up over the last 15 years!!😆😆😎😎🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
So the Lace Sensors must have left something to be desired? Seems you just changed over to them. These sound awesome. I did like the look of the Lace Sensors on that polar white strat.
they do sound really nice. Have you heard of JJ's pickups in Melbourne? they are a very passionate pickup company that provided me with humbucker sized P90's for my guitar. They have nailed it in regards to high quality building and amazing tone. They brought my guitar back to life and i can't put it down since they were installed. very inspiring tone machine pick ups.
Great video! I just purchased a 2024 Jeff Beck sig Strat in Surf Green & the pickups sound fantastic. The bridge pickup is measuring 21k ohms resistance and I’m wondering if your set has the same reading?
I’ve always found the noiseless pickups a little more compressed. Great for fusion etc. re your pickup story - I ordered a nice set of Lollar Tele pickups. Then I put off installing them and ended up selling the tele - the guy called me and said “what’s with these pickups?” Apparently I’d installed them and just forgot. I sold the whole guitar for 1/2 the price of the pickups. Stupid me.
I was playing along with some Jeff Beck live videos and was immediately hit with how thin my Strat tone was. He was using jcm2000 50's which I love and everyone loves to hate. Using a plexiglass type I had to put an sd-9 front. This all got me thinking about the 2-3 sets of Shur stacked single coils that Beck used and wondering if the fenders would do the job. I wish suhr would make these pickups. I've heard they were too hot for most. Anyone try the fender Mike Landau noiseless? The bridge is 11k like the Beck pickups. Also wondering about wiring tone1 to neck and tone 2 to bridge and leaving middle with open for max quack. Great demo!
I didn't like the first generation of Noiseless when I tried them, and I also hate that they only come in cream covers, but you got nice tones here. cheers
They’re not really discontinued. You can still get them in special runs made for retailers. I recently pickup an American pro ii special run with the painted headstock, candy apple red, ebony fretboard and hot noiseless. They were absolutely the worst pickups I’ve ever had and I ended up returning the guitar. They are very compressed, lack dynamic range and expressiveness. This video is proof that you can present anything in a positive light.
Hi Shane, I’m a lefty with the same 50 original strat as yours, strangely mine only weighs 6.2 lbs can you believe!! Think you need to match the colour of the tone nobs and selector tip👍. To be honest I’ve swapped out so many pickups in mine. My pickups now are Raw Vintage 50s set only 5.4k in all 3. Check out the reviews. Regards Dave
Didn't know beck used them.. interesting... I thought they were just a little lower overall ... The strat sound without 100 percent punch... Just a bit mellower..
i got so sick of my 70's reissue strat sounding like luke skywalkers light sabre when i first got it, so i swapped the pickguard for an eric clapton loaded pickguard with noiseless pickup. Couldn't be any more happier with the sound. Fender should make all their pickups noiseless.
the pickups Jeff used in his actual stage guitars were made for him by John Suhr back when John was still working for Fender. He had 3 sets of them that were put in his stage and recording guitars. Jeff had Fender noiseless in backups for his backup guitars but the Fender ones aren't his sound.
Lately I put a set of EMG DG20 on my Strat, sure they're active but I like their tone. A tad more compressed/darker, the EXG and SPC controls are quite efficient though. I had the Fender vintage noiseless in a Clapton Strat replica with the mid boost, actually these pickups do have stacked coils for noise cancellation. Hence the need to reroute the cavities as the pickups are bigger. I also have an early Clapton Strat with the gold Lace Sensor pickups, I like them a lot, very straty. Both the EMGs and the Lace Sensors have almost no magnetic pull, as far as I remember the Fender Noiseless were magnetic.
$900??? LMAO! Some people have NO clue & will try to scam any1! I saw some1 on GT a while back trying to sell an old DT Bad Monkey OD for over $600 after that JHS nonsense! Pedal was worth no more than ~ $80! (& Brett Kingman did the SAME thing 13 years ago! NO price jump!)

Really liked that middle pick-up, paired and by itself. Unusual for me
They sound great!!! Seem very balanced to my ear. 🎸🔥🎸🔥🎸
Dyam! Killer playing to go along with the best sounding Strat pickups I've ever heard Shane.
SWEET! It's always great to find what you are searching for at a fantastic DEAL!
I got a hot noiseless loaded pickguard waiting on a project to put them in. I got them on clearance so it was worth buying and waiting on the right project.

How do they actually compare to Texas specials?
First comment! Cheers from Argentina Shane!😎
I put these in my 82 Dan Smith in early 2000s. Had the guitar since 84. Played it all over the place and decided I wanted more punch and got it. Paid over $300 for the set and well worth it. Good to hear them demoed.
Fabulous tone! Wish my Strat sounded like that, although your playing definitely played a big part.
Thanks so much Eddie. These really do capture the vibe of the Strat. A lot of noiseless pickups miss out on that top end, but these do it really well.
I have the newest ultra noiseless pickups in my Fender American Ultra and the vintage noiseless pickups in my Ultra Luxe Telecaster. I really like them. Cool video 👍
They are awesome sounding pickups mate, I have a set of mojotone Rene Martinez (SRV PICKUPS) and you're right no buzz on those. Cheers!
I love mine. 😊 I have them in a Mexican strat with a blend pot from Emerson. Great sound and versatile. I paid about $150 USD new a few years back. They sure are creamy sounding.
I'm glad I got to see this. I'm looking for a set of hot noiseless. But I don't want to have the bother of routing the cavity.
I had no idea that these had been discontinued. I know they were many players favorite noiseless set, so maybe they were hurting sales of the newer noiseless gen 4 and Ultra noiseless sets that don't sound as good. Discontinued? More like no interest from distributors
Nothing more beautiful than a blonde/artic white (including pickguard) Fender stratocaster with a maple fretboard, I reckon...
Ah just got a Strat Pro II limited w/ Ebony neck and it has these ‘hot noiseless’ … was not sure about those being special at all… thanks for posting this.

Great tune that was killer

i ordered this set after this review..thnxxx ❤
i think the hot pu are very good for my allround coverband!.. don't you think?
the overdrive sound is so nice..what pedal do you use for overdrive lead sound???
I've the Fender noiseless in two of start style guitars. They are basically stacked single coils. Super clean sounds.
Looks good, Shane - just need matching knobs ;-)
Thanks, mate! You might be right about that. :)

i have gen 4 noisless pups on one of my strats and they sound great

@@intheblues I haven’t found any ‘noiseless’ pickups to be 100% noiseless apart from the Fishman FLUENCE so I’m OK with that.
Put vintage noiseless in a 1997 Strat Plus way back when Jeff and Eric changed from Lace sensors. Great for live. And never listened to the naysayers they are killer.
If you’ve tried them what is your opinion on the recent Strat Ultra Noiseless Vintage set?
I have a set of the jb's in a mim 70s classic series. Had no idea they are collectable.
In all honesty, I don’t have an ear for pick up differences outside of ones that cancel hum. I guess it’s in the ear of the player. I hope you do a follow up video after playing live to see how they have held up over the last 15 years!!😆😆😎😎🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸

I also recently bought a set of those pickups they sound great! I just can’t do low output pickups, they sound so weak
Great video! I just purchased a 2024 Jeff Beck sig Strat in Surf Green & the pickups sound fantastic. The bridge pickup is measuring 21k ohms resistance and I’m wondering if your set has the same reading?
TBX tone pot with the HPF set on the 1 meg side
I’ve always found the noiseless pickups a little more compressed. Great for fusion etc.

Yeah, they are good, but I prefer vintage noiseless pickups witch I have on my 1989 US strat
I was playing along with some Jeff Beck live videos and was immediately hit with how thin my Strat tone was. He was using jcm2000 50's which I love and everyone loves to hate. Sounds great, I think we would all like to hear what amp/ cab is Sim and/or amp you used in this video. Thanks, and lots of respect 🖖
I recorded this using profiles of my own gear via the Kemper - Marshall/Fender/Peavey etc. :)
Hi Shane, I’m a lefty with the same 50 original strat as yours, strangely mine only weighs 6.2 lbs can you believe!! Think you need to match the colour of the tone nobs and selector tip👍. Do let me know if you want to sell the Lace Sensors :)
I am definitely keeping them for another project coming up :)
When the title first popped up in my feed, I thought we were talking about “Trucks”.
How do they compare with the Keisel? Sounds great, still stratty !
Do you prefer these pickups over the Lace Sensors you previously had installed Shane
Didn't know beck used them.. interesting... I thought they were just a little lower overall ... The strat sound without 100 percent punch... Just a bit mellower..
what do you use for the overdrive lead sound??..
i got so sick of my 70's reissue strat sounding like luke skywalkers light sabre when i first got it, so i swapped the pickguard for an eric clapton loaded pickguard with noiseless pickup. Couldn't be any more happier with the sound. Fender should make all their pickups noiseless.
Were those pickups made for a left hand guitar?
They don't have staggered pole pieces so they can go in either orientation fine.
the pickups Jeff used in his actual stage guitars were made for him by John Suhr back when John was still working for Fender. He had 3 sets of them that were put in his stage and recording guitars. Jeff had Fender noiseless in backups for his backup guitars but the Fender ones aren't his sound.
Yeah, I am not surprised they aren't the same ones, but they still sound really good.
@@inthebluesI like them too
Sounds like the Hot Gold 6.0/6.0/6.0 set would have been more of what you were looking for.

What a random coincidence..agian..
Artik su gitarin manyetiklerini rahat birak. Stok pure vintage 50ler manyetik hepsinden iyiydi.
900 bucks? I’m gonna scour the pawnshops for old pickups.
Low output for me, uncompressed, airy, let the amp do the work.
not need this pickups ,, not sense ,,, Jeff used othr pickups ,, this set is other thing for market and mass sale
First comment! Cheers from Argentina Shane!😎
