People are confusing the higher resolution and visibility of the gc and pc versions and them being better but all the lighting effects, shaders and physics are stunted or broken, even footprints in the snow are missing in the gc and pc versions
Ps2 version have lowest resolution, but got all postprocessing effects, look at the water in the basement, no fluid move on GC an PC, also cars have real time reflections, even Marcus and people around you are reflecting(it's not rtx), going through the city there is deph of field and whole game got nice lighting. Best option for me is playing this game on emulator or in bacwards compatibility(still not perfect :p)
As someone who was 9 years old when this came out this was an alternative to Grand theft auto San Andreas....since my parents were strict Dictators....True Crime NYC was the GTA Sa for us gamecube kids
The answer may surprise you. OG XBOX version is superior. PS2 runs below 10 fps frequently. GC is missing most of the effects, PC has unplayable mouse acceleration and missing effects. XBOX has effects, framerate and higher res textures
The gun models are missing their textures and you have to set your mouse to +65+565+6+56+65 dpi. And the animatons are sped up in the ps2 version they are to slo like slo mo.
Undergound 1 and True Crime LA are good ports on the GC. Which oh casually coincides with the time where the GC was still selling well in USA.....its clear post 2003 the level of effort put into GC ports was extremely low. There was no monetary incentive to do any better, its understandable.
@@ariaarzhang6116 damn that's too bad. the game also doesn't work very well on both dolphin and pcsx2 emulator. on dolphin it won't go further than the first mission, whereas on pcsx2 it glitches like crazy and the only solution is to run in software mode which isn't playable at all unless you have a super beefy rig.

Los juegos de Sonic/Shadow tambien son mejores en Gamecube. Y unos cuantos multiplataforma mas tambien. Spiderman The Movie, Burnout 1, Beyond Good and evil, Bob Sponge...y algunos mas....depende del tipo de juego. Los juegos mundo abierto generalmente no benefician al Gamecube, pero en juegos menos grandes si que puede mostrar mejores graficos, es complicado, son maquinas diferentes con distintos puntos fuertes.
As usual, the PlayStation 2 version looks too dark and grainy, quite painful to look at in all honesty. The GameCube version definitely looks a lot cleaner and brighter, but it’s still not perfect. The PC version is the best of both worlds: better graphics, higher resolution, and the frame rate is far more stable. PC version is by far the best one.

PC is a horrible HORRIBLE port, no controller support, too much FPS, dated graphics and missing gun models just like GTA IV, Saints Row 2 and L.A. Rush, the GameCube port looked inferior compared to PS2

I had the GC Version! The Game runned so bad on it! Stuttering and freezes all the time. But i loved this game! 🙈
