Sure of course but the sentence is taking away your freedom, prison shouldn't be an archaic punishment system it should be geared towards rehabilitation, you can work with some and others you won't just like everything else in life, we need to give the lesser offenders more chances like programs to learn how to spot weld or electricians, anything to give them an actual possibility instead of shutting them away for so many months within old dirty overcrowded cells, if all you do is to talk and reminiscing about crimes or drugs or violence when you'll get out you'll go back to that for sure
One thing a lot of people don't really understand, you can be in prison in france or in sweden, or in poland or in holland, of course the ones in sweden and holland are way better, but the thing people froget is whatever prison you are in, your freedom is gone! I just discovered in my province no orange jumpsuits...they even gave me back my hat and belt to wear inside...and shoes and jeans...so we all looked like individuals. It was surprising but made sense overall..its city jail not prison..not everyone is convicted.
Apparently they get paid (if they work ofcourse), 300 a month in prison is not bad at all! Assuming he does his full 7 years that's 25200! Ofcourse he will spend some on food/phone calls or whatever, but still, not bad!.
