this is so good! i'm usually a melody person so this album was quite eye-opening in the sense that lyrics could make such an impact. florida is one of my favourites! you've earned a subscriber :)
i think lyrics can be so powerful when it comes to feeling a connection towards a song. taylor has definitely made a huge impact on how i view and listen to music especially because i admire her writing so much, i think she’s a master at her craft. i really loved how this album focused on her writing. florida is also one of my favorites!! thank you so much for listening, i’m really glad you enjoyed this. your support means everything to me :)) 💗
Lyrics 0:00 You can beat the heat if you beat the charges too They said I was a cheat, I guess it must be true And my friends all smell like weed or little babies And this city reeks of driving myself crazy 0:35 Little did you know Your home's really only a town you're just a guest in So you work your life away Just to pay for a timeshare down in Destin 0:51 Florida is one hell of a drug Florida, can I use you up? 1:09 The hurricane with my name when it came I got drunk and I dared it to wash me away Barricaded in the bathroom with a bottle of wine Well, me and my ghosts, we had a hell of a time Yes, I'm haunted but I'm feeling just fine All my girls got their lace and their crimes And your cheating husband disappeared Well, no one asks any questions here 1:39 So I did my best to lay to rest All of the bodies that have ever been on my body And in my mind, they sink into the swamp Is that a bad thing to say in a song? 1:58 Little did you know Your home's really only the town you'll get arrested So you pack your life away Just to wait out the shitstorm back in Texas 2:14 Florida is one hell of a drug Florida, can I use you up? 2:30 I need to forget, so take me to Florida I've got some regrets, I'll bury them in Florida Tell me I'm despicable, say it's unforgivable At least the dolls are beautiful, fuck me up, Florida I need to forget, so take me to Florida I've got some regrets, I'll bury them in Florida Tell me I'm despicable, say it's unforgivable What a crash, what a rush, fuck me up, Florida 3:02 It's one hell of a drug It's one hell of a drug Love left me like this and I don't want to exist So take me to Florida 3:28 Little did you know Your home's really only a town you're just a guest in (take me to Florida) So you work your life away Just to pay for a timeshare down in Destin (take me to Florida) Little did you know Your home's really only the town you'll get arrested (take me to Florida) So you pack your life away Just to wait out the shitstorm back in Texas (take me to) Florida is one hell of a drug (take me to) Florida, can I use you up? Florida is one hell of a drug Florida, go on, fuck me up
Haven't found time to listen to taylor's new album yet but was surprised seeing a song being named after my home state lol The lyrics really do hit though especially the lyric "Your home's really only a town you're just a guest in" it really feels like that way in a break up suddenly being evicted out of someones heart you once called home. At least thats what I thought about when hearing that.
this song immediately stood out to me upon first listen of ttpd. the actual song has this feeling that i just couldn’t capture myself so whenever you get a chance to listen i hope you like it and i’d love to hear your thoughts!!! i also love that lyric so much and i love your perspective on it. i hadn’t thought of it in the context of a breakup but it makes so much sense and the way you explained/worded that was heartbreaking and beautiful. i interpreted in a broader sense of a literal town that really was just saying, home is only temporary. you can be anywhere for however long and still get pushed away at any moment. or you can leave to go somewhere else, but even if it’s the place you chose because it had everything you wanted, you’ll still never belong or feel at home forever.
@@katy_lyAfter listening to the original I can see what you mean by "this feeling" you couldn't capture the best way I can describe it for me was a feeling of angst. That was almost amplified by the higher bpm of the song. I think your version because it was stripped back had a completely different vibe going for it almost melancholic and initimate which I enjoyed as well. First of all thank you for the kind words. Secondly, your interpretation also makes complete sense I didnt think about it literally but in the grand scheme of things you are truly a guest. You are only there because it holds whats dear to you. So in that sense once what you hold dear is gone so are you. That town becomes nothing but a memory of what once was. So I understand what you mean and really appreciate your literal interpretation!
@@Tena2000 angst is such a great word to describe it!! i’m so happy to hear you liked my version too :)) i love the way you described this interpretation as well. i read about the amazon music commentary where taylor explained her inspiration behind the song. she talked about how florida is the place where people go to reinvent themselves and rid themselves of their mistakes, while also comparing it to the feelings you experience while going through a heartbreak. here’s the link if you want to read!! www.today.com/today/amp/rcna149070
It's not that the cover isn't bad, in fact I think it's good. It is the feeling that is lost. You must put emotion into it. The song is about two women who run away from their lives and mistakes to try to change them. Have you seen Thelma and Louise? Maybe that will help. Interpretation also requires emotion and sensitivity.
О боже, это так красиво..
you are so sweet 🥹🫂 thank you so much, it means a lot to me

Lyrics

You can beat the heat if you beat the charges too
They said I was a cheat, I guess it must be true
And my friends all smell like weed or little babies
And this city reeks of driving myself crazy
0:35
Little did you know
Your home's really only a town you're just a guest in
So you work your life away
Just to pay for a timeshare down in Destin
0:51
Florida is one hell of a drug
Florida, can I use you up?
1:09
The hurricane with my name when it came
I got drunk and I dared it to wash me away
Barricaded in the bathroom with a bottle of wine
Well, me and my ghosts, we had a hell of a time
Yes, I'm haunted but I'm feeling just fine
All my girls got their lace and their crimes
And your cheating husband disappeared
Well, no one asks any questions here
1:39
So I did my best to lay to rest
All of the bodies that have ever been on my body
And in my mind, they sink into the swamp
Is that a bad thing to say in a song?
1:58
Little did you know
Your home's really only the town you'll get arrested
So you pack your life away
Just to wait out the shitstorm back in Texas
2:14
Florida is one hell of a drug
Florida, can I use you up?
2:30
I need to forget, so take me to Florida
I've got some regrets, I'll bury them in Florida
Tell me I'm despicable, say it's unforgivable
At least the dolls are beautiful, fuck me up, Florida
I need to forget, so take me to Florida
I've got some regrets, I'll bury them in Florida
Tell me I'm despicable, say it's unforgivable
What a crash, what a rush, fuck me up, Florida
3:02
It's one hell of a drug
It's one hell of a drug
Love left me like this and I don't want to exist
So take me to Florida
3:28
Little did you know
Your home's really only a town you're just a guest in (take me to Florida)
So you work your life away
