Fair play to you for getting their Van sorted. The main thing with any accident is nobody got hurt. Vehicles can be repaired, bits replaced, insurance gets used but that's what its for.
You guys need to release a book. Detailing your three favourite layouts and a bunch of how too guides for the most difficult jobs. I would buy that in a heartbeat.
The process I use to hide the screw heads on carpeted boards is the following (works a treat and is super quick): 1. fully glue/carpet the board 2. screw the board in place (with a just couple of screws, for positioning) but don't screw the screws all the way home. 3. then I put a small slit in the carpet (1-2cm in length) with the screw dead in the centre of the slit 4. you can then screw the screw all the way home and it disappears through the slit and under the carpet. 5. push the two 'halves' of the slit down over the screw head. The glue that you originally used adheres it back to the board. 6. finish by putting a few more slits in the carpet wherever you'll need a screw, then drill/screw, and repeat. Hope that helps anyone reading.
Another great video Stuart, every build I watch I think I could have another van but may just carry on dreaming.....amazing how quickly things have moved from your first build...dont burn yourselves out though......
I absolutely love this channel. Stu explains everything so so well and I could watch these videos all day. I been following you guys since the RRs and the floor problems in your old motorhome. Now I’m hooked on the Vanology conversions and his has inspired me to build my own van. We currently have a caravan which we’re selling early next year and I’ll then start converting a Boxer. I’m a retired aircraft engineer so hopefully my old skills will come into play. We live in Somerset so not too far from you and no doubt I’ll be in touch for some advice or even a little help. Looking forward to the shower tray manufacturing vid. By the way in all your videos your children are so well behaved and clearly love the adventures you guys go on as a family. Well done to you both and the very very best of luck with your new business.
Thank you Ed, be sure to send us some photos of your build and if you need any help you know where I am. The kids are well behaved to be fair, they have their moments but they are kids 💙🙌🏻
Amazing how far your business has got. My son is at college doing Carpentry, I’d love him to get into van building. Can’t wait to see you do more, one that maybe more retro 🌸
Cracking idea from Shane, we can see who the real brauns of the outfit is 😂 Seriously though guys, huge congratulations to you and if I may offer some advice, don't sign a long lease on the new unit, I think you'll be moving to bigger premises again soon 🙂
Hey Stu another good informative video. Great to see you guys doing so well and looks like you have a good team and at the same time sorted a good work live balance out 👏👍
What a fantastic episode this was! So gutted for the Kiwis but sounds like they have struck lucky with Vanology!!! Great to see the old timer still out there doing it.... hopefully the wife and I can do the same, unless she finally has enough of me! Keep up the good work mate!
Great to see the van can be saved. It's also refreshing that you keep to a high standard. The one thing I noticed you saying " we are going to have a race". This always means that someone has to lose ?. Which is a negative. If the works needed have been priced rightly then there is no need to " race ". Snagging work is a money loser. I noticed that you had three attempts to profile a piece of furniture and made a great job of it but a fixed template or even an adjustable template would help. An example, I worked where good quality cabinet work was needed. For years they had breakout when machining the 90 Deg needed for the corners. It meant glue and tape to rectify the problem. I suggested a " tufnall" spring loaded block for resistance, problem solved. Sadly only a small step up the ladder was offered. Keep up the good work.
I can’t wait to see what the body shop does to this van to fix it, will be awesome. The race isn’t too serious it’s a bit of fun between us. I’m still working on their van as they are in mine 💙🙌🏻
You guys are cooking! Absolutely gutted for the Kiwi folks, but glad to see it's the van and not them...hope the chassis isn't warped in anyway - that looked like a pretty nasty rear-ender, but testament to the build quality of the van (and your work - none of those cupboards came down, etc.!). Take it easy with the expansion...work to live, and all that! Oh - looking forward to seeing how you make the shower...I need to do that in the next month, so need to learn. Power to your elbows! 🙂
Thankfully the inspector confirm the chassis and relevant parts are all good it’s just the rear doors and pillar took the brunt of it. Thanks mate appreciate it 👊🏻
what a shame for the New Zealanders, glad their ok and the van is going to be sorted out for them. Another great couple of vans coming on, well done guys 🙂
What a bummer having that rear end smash . . . They must be SO disappointed😢😢 Hope you can get it 'as new' again 💯💯 real soon. I found the scribing very interesting as I've got a job like that coming up ... good job 💯👌👌
Couldn’t believe it when they sent me the photos out of the blue, but between us and our friends over at Paintworx we are going to get this van a second chance 👊🏻
Quality will out. Ive been watching your journey and to see your rapid growth is testimony to your commitment. Look forward to furure episodes. Very interested in your custom shower trays as thats always an issue in conversions😊
Just a thought! If your cupboard wall was formed as a continuation of your bulkhead you may get an extra 12 to 18mm width to your storage unit, which I am guessing might be on runners like a larder. Looking double busy
😮vans can be fixed but people can't, they were very lucky. What great work you are all doing, Master's at work 👍 The old Welsh gentleman was lovely, it just goes to show that you're never too old 🫶🍻
I’ve been watching your videos since you started this channel and you are a genius. You take such pride in your work that it’s no wonder you’re growing the business so quickly. I have a Motorhome so not sure if you can help but I have a broken spring on a door latch. I have been trying to source a replacement for months now and struggling. Burstner want £650 to replace the whole mechanism but it’s just a spring. I have found places that would make one but they all need the spring out as a template and I haven’t yet found anyone who would make it whilst I wait which I need as we live in the van. Is that something you could do or do you know anyone who could help us? Any ideas greatly appreciated

Another cracking, informative video. One thing I'd love to know is where you hook the D+ signal cable into from the Renogy DC-DC MPPT? I've been struggling to find the answer to this one 😩. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Colin, in the cab next to the cigarette lighter there is a circular cap, pop this off and it exposes three cables one is the ground and one is an ignition live, I use my multi meter to work out which one as there is a third cable there the same colours 👍🏻
I'm totally baffled as to where & how to go about connecting this D+ cable in the Citroen Relay. While running the cables in conduit under the van is it necessary to put the D+ cable in with the conduit too.? More importantly where does the actual D+ wire go to.? I've heard it can be wired in to the back of the cigarette lighter, I'd dearly love to see how this is achieved.
We run the D+ cable with the dc/dc cable in conduit under van. We bring it into the battery box but is longer so we can then take it up to the circular cap next to the cigarette lighter where you’ll find an ignition love cable underneath 👍🏻🚐
Is the New Zealand van for some Kiwis to travel around the UK/Europe or are they planning on brining it into New Zealand? Sorry to say, if that van is coming to New Zealand it won't pass compliance to be registered here as its had an accident resulting in structural damage to the rear pillar. Not sure if they knew that also to gain compliance the van has to be stripped out too - so that all the panels can be inspected for damage/repair. Cars have all the inner door panels etc stripped off for the same process.
It’s for them to travel the UK and Europe, they did mention potentially getting it to Australia and seeing if once done there it can be taken to New Zealand
