I am a homeless disabled veteran that got cancer from being stationed at Fort Ord, CA, the most contaminated place in America. Hopefully, in a year or 2 I can buy little plot and build a log cabin.
Aberdeen MD base is storage for toxic materials, when we were there they told us 1st thing don't use any of the water ,buy every water for cooking from stores on base and in town
There are three counties that you can get into to build your cabin with no restrictions. You have to figure those out which one you like the most for benefits to veterans and people low income, but you shouldn’t have a problem getting it the financing because you’re a disabled vet. None at all. It’s just a long process though you gotta get the paperwork done.
Watched property rise 100 fold and more over the last 15 years. I’ve come to the conclusion I ain’t going anywhere even though I’m wealthier now than I was 15 years ago. Ready for the 55 and older home.
Awesome I'm in Hawkins county as well Jeff I actually think I may have been by your place I recall the camper and fencing around it last week hauling some goats.. I'm down off choptack back across short MTN towards highway 11w.I raise pure combBoer goats and pure Hereford pigs and x bred Hereford pigs also have a Oscar 336 pro saw mill you ever need a hand or need anything my people have farmed here for over 50years with tobacco now just corn and soybeans some hemp
The black angus that was on that property is now at my farm. And Rodney Greene my cousin was the one that farmed that property and terry greene my great uncle lives in the big White House with pond infront of it in the next holler over
Only bad thing between these two can count is that they run it with Angus and that’s pretty much which is sold around these two counties he spoke of in the beginning.. I happen to live here so that I know.. in the neighboring county to his.
Thanks for taking us along. That's a very nice acreage, and it sounds like they have some good plans for their farm. I especially enjoyed seeing their Jersey cows and sleepy pigs. ☺
Over all I think its a nice Property. I'd probably start out small with the cattle and rationally graze. Maybe even incorporate a few sheep or goat, even if temporary. With some select cutting that hillside might make some decent silvopasture. Just the fact that he already has some clover in his Pasture should be helpful with the cattle I would think. I done a quick google search on that County and it looked like it would be a nice scenic place to live. On a side note the dude definitely has an up North accent. Also, from what I've been hearing online lately, Tennessee might, hopefully be more friendly to his homestead dreams that Pennsylvania would be currently.
Yep, i know where you are. I live n hour from you! Lol kudos for leaving VA, too expensive and too red. We left Petersburg VA for the same reasons! Did you check for caves? Also floodplains, no place for water to go. Hope the cows are not freemartins!

I watch some Noah Bradley videos on log cabin building. He is the authority. He says have fun with it. Get away from rush hour traffic, working in a soul killing cubicle, doing something you hate to keep up with the Jones'. Be a man. Work like a man. Follow your own moral compass.

That really was a good looking piece of Tennessee property! Love them hills but he has a fair amount of useable flat as well.
It looked like the house location was directly under the power line. I would consider moving it if so.
Hawkins county tn is a good place to live!
Enjoyed Seeing Jeff's place.
