- A new series I've wanted to do for a while, "Why I Love" is a different rendition to my old Fighter Spotlight feature. The debut of WIL features the main man himself, Persona 4 Arena's Yu Narukami.

Something that's touched on in P4 Arena series and more obvious in the anime is that Yu, despite the calm composure, is sort of a aloof weirdo. And it's incredibly endearing. Shown most prominent in the Kings game scene and all of the school festival (where he's super into the crossdressing contest). Even in Ultimax, he takes a liking to the "kingpin of steel" nickname.
Loving Fool It was nice to see him finally develop his own personality, because in the rpg he was sort of molded as a blank state to act as a conduit of the player playing as him.
MacSplicer which is odd, because in both P3 and P5 the protags exhibit glimps into their personalities. P3 has the protag always has his ears covered and hands in pockets; and due to his past and constantly moving, he's clearly become reclusive. (And there's something to be said about how quickly he's willing to put the evoker to his head)
P5 protag on the other hand is established to be stylish and a show off, and later shown to be quite perceptive, noticing one of the plat twist miles later than the player.
I disagree. Yu's personality shines through in P4 pretty well, especially in a few areas: the calm aloof goofballery that you see showcased in the anime, the fierece dedication to his family and friends, and his ability to stay calm and see the big picture even when it is difficult or obscured. You may write that last point off as a part of his protagonistic imperative but I truly see that as a part of his character. The game goes out of its way to showcase characters like Naoto who is straight up smarter, more observant and more calculating, and Yosuke who thinks quickly on his feet or even Kanji whose characteristic bluntness often cuts right to the heart of seemingly complicated matters. In contrast to all of these, Yu is the only one who is able to intuit in the hospital scene and during the ending that the team is missing something about the big picture, and this is a testament to his uniqueness amongst Persona protagonists.

I just feel the other protagonist's personalities shine much more in their posture (in Minato's case) and actions, along with comments said towards them in cutscenes (such as futaba's "what a show off" comment in p5).

while I love all of the MC from the persona games Yu has always been my favorite since he's not flashy like joker but not the edge lord like Minato/Makoto,But he still has the Badass vibe like them without being over dramatic.(still love Door-kun tho)

I'm so looking forward to the BB crossover game. I never had the chance to get into P4 Arena, so this might be the chance to appreciate some characters. and I love UNIST btw so that's a plus too^^
Very excited for that game as well, I've never been big into BlazBlue but adding Narukami to it has me sold. One thing I'm interested in knowing is if the teams have to consist of a BB cast member as a part of your tag team.
Only time will tell.

If you have the resources, I highly encourage you to give both Arena games a playthrough in the meantime for BlazBlue. They're incredibly fun, stylish, and have a surprisingly amount of great, solid content to keep you coming for more. Of course, the games take place after Persona 4's story, so if you're still itchin' for more Persona 4 (and 3), do give it a try! The fan service alone is a blast to watch.
Also, as a casual fighting game player, I was surprised at how easily I was able to pick up the games, and even took the time to actually become more proficient. The games may be a tad old now, but still hold up wonderfully and again, are certainly capable of giving you a great time.
maybe someday we get persona arena on steam, all the persona or shin megami characters together, that would be SICK

Although I love Yu's character development in P4 Arena, The Animation and Ultimax but I kinda grew with Minato's character. The game's theme of Persona 3 with battling against apathy and fighting to live then rather dying. I also loved how he becamr the seal to save the world and his bonds from the Harbinger of Death from connecting with Erebus bringing death once again to the world (Although The Answer kinda sucked). I loved Persona 4 also with the message of reaching the truth and the meaning of true bonds. Yu and Minato both have been placed in my heart's as my favorite protagonists in the Persona series, (Still haven't seen all of Shin Megami Tensei nor Persona 1 and 2, and yes, I also love Joker but Persona 3 and 4's story and cast are better).

Bearholdinshark He was definitely strong in both games but not at the top. You could make the argument for being the top in P4U but he had more competition in P4U2. Though he definitely was top 5 in both. Very solid character.

High-top tier and a good pick due to his ability to cover all bases. He's actually very close to the very top because he literally has no objective weakness. However, he also has no objectively dominant strengths either so characters like Mitsuru (offensive pressure), Yosuke (Pringles), Aigis (Zoning) and Sho (Meter Burning) all have something over him in gameplay. But to that end, while all those characters have notable drawbacks, Yu not only has no drawbacks, he actually excels at everything.

@@junkiesrobot I know this comment is late. Anyway, is it just me or is Akihiko just not a favorite? What I’m trying to say is, I see so many people that love Akihiko. That’s okay, it’s just an opinion. I just don’t really like him that much. I do respect his story about wanting to become stronger because of his dead sister that he couldn’t save, and then Shinji, I just don’t see Akihiko as a super interesting character.

I have a few other Persona 4 Arena characters in mind but unfortunately no, I like Adachi just fine, but not enough to feature him in a WIL.
Yu is the best! His best version is in the game and in the anime. I personally like the game!

No. Mitsuru and Minazuki have always been the two best characters in the game. Mitsuru was also the best in Arena.
Ken Amada i feel mitsuru was definitely top 5 i always felt she wasn't as good as Narukami Minazuki Aegis talking more about ultimax that's the game i had more experience.

If we go by community voted/usage.

However, top players tier list are more credible than community usage tiers. Taking that into account. Top level play. Mitsuru and Aigis are the best characters in the game.

Both saved the world through different means. Door kun sacrifice himself and was the key to finally save the world from destruction, while Bowl haircut Kun quite literally used absolute "TRUTH" To save the world from destruction. Both quite literally are amazing. I do like Yu better though XD
