Big Ennio morricone fan here too, you have certainly done this justice. It is epic. One of my first thoughts was that you probably could have asked Kale to do the whistle, as he has quite a collection of whistles of all kinds. The green screen was flawless. Having worked in film, I know the thousand or so ways it can go wrong, even now with very smart software, the lighting has to be right. I have some stories. Anyway I really enjoyed this, Sheila the gunslinger was something else. The effort you put into this is clear to see. Even if you don't see a result straight away, you never know what might come your way down the track. Bravo!
Thank you very much. It's funny, I've been thinking that it would be great to do some kind of collaboration with Kale. I didn't think to ask him about whistling. You're right. I thought the green-screen would be easy. It's a curtain rather than a screen and so the first thing I found was that all the drapes came out as dark shadows. I did my best to tape it so it was flat but in one or two shots you can still see the odd dark shadow.
Holy moly. That was a crazy complex recording. What a cool old west vibe mixed with some classical grandeur. I can tell you put a lot of work into that. It sounded fantastic... and for what it's worth... I thought the vocal parts sounded really good. When you say "Logic is handling that", I assume you mean it's a soft synth but that means you're still playing it so... take some more credit. 😂 Great vid!
Thanks so much Kale. To me it feels like one of the most epic pieces of music I've made, and also one of the most ambitious video editing jobs (first public use of a new green curtain!! Not to mention a bit of theatre.) So naturally I've been watching the stats all morning which have been v-e-r-y s-l-o-w! You never can tell, can you? I'm certainly incredibly happy with this. (annoyingly, my low-effort midweek jobs have been outperforming the high-effort Sunday jams by 2 or 3 times.) Yes, if Logic is taking care of drums or instruments that I don't play, then yes, they're software instruments. Sometimes I'll play them in using a keyboard or controller, but if the notes exist in a score (as here) then I see no point in playing them, and just import them. In that case, depending on how much I'm actually playing myself, it can feel a little like playing along to a karaoke backing track or something. I like to do as much as I possibly can, but a certain amount is always going to be the computer. This is the reason I tend to 'show my working' - I don't want to be dishonest about it, I want to be open about exactly what I've done and what I haven't.
It's not up to your standard of acting but I particularly enjoyed doing the eyes. I was a bit concerned about people who weren't familiar with the films, thinking "what the heck's that all about?"
@@midi_in I did an "eyes thing" with Morricone homage. It involved zooming in on video recorded in 480p. I also did the music in some horrendous a capella style...
@@WhatHoSnorkers Was your a capella worse than my singing..? Actually, the video is always a problem and so being able to fill a minute just by standing there and looking about the room was great!
I'm not familiar with Paranoia Prima (though I've had a quick listen and I'm very intrigued) but I have played Gabriel's Oboe many times, it's a very popular solo for various instruments in the brass band world. Thanks for watching.
👍👍👍👍👍I also like "Paranoia Prima" from Grindhouse 😂😂😂

This is cool! And don’t worry about the “I don’t sing” part. Bob Dylan couldn’t sing and that didn’t slow him down lol. 😂
lol - thanks a lot. I don't think I'll be doing very much singing in the near future.
@@midi_in haha, I thought the choir of voices was great!
Now that is a complex track! And green screen too! And the classic Western eyes too!

...Oh and I forgot to mention Gabriel's Oboe since I once aspired to be an Oboe play, but alas I failed at it😪
