@@RalphMayhewPhotography I own the A7r II, and from what I´ve seen I´m quite impressed. The Tamron 28-200 didn´t impress me quite as much in terms of sharpness. But I want to see sample images with a still life type motif to be able to evaluate corner sharpness. The other concern is shooting indoors with a the f stop being fairly high - might become a problem in terms of ISO noise then.
This is exactly what Im after. I was contemplating getting an APSC lens for my Sony A7CII, just to keep it compact but have lots of range. Then, this showed up! This will be my next purchase, then Ill be happy with my lenses. My wife will also be happy if I dont need to buy anymore! 😂
I’m slightly confused as to why Tamron bothered to release the 50-300mm knowing that they had this in the pipeline and I’m really curious to see someone do an image quality comparison between those two lenses. Also, I’m assuming this is in the lineup as a replacement for the 28-200mm f/2.8-5.6, and if that’s the case I’d find it somewhat disappointing as that lens really is a fantastically versatile single lens with the fast starting aperture of f/2.8. That said, I’m primarily a landscape photographer who shoots at f/8 or higher most of the time, so I can definitely deal with relatively slow aperture of the 28-300mm and would almost certainly choose it over the 50-300mm to pair with a Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 on my a7CR for backpacking and hiking.
The 50-309 is sharper than this lens (you can see my review on that). I don’t think it was intended as a replacement for the previous 28-300 but more a cheaper option for folks like yourself or those getting into new lens options after buying their first camera.
Love the shot of the tree canopy. I read a science article how a canopy of a tree doesn’t touches it neighbour. I don’t timber the reason but clearly visible in your photo, they fit like puzzle pieces. Love the lense, I think you need to ask them for a giveaway one 🤪

@@RalphMayhewPhotography There will be people who will use it with wide angle zoom lenses. With just 2 lenses, they can pretty much cover most of the usual focal length (16-300mm) for daytime landscape photography. I personally use something similar. I’m using Tamron 50-400 4.5-6.3 with 16mm 20mm 28mm 40mm prime lenses. These prime lenses are for astrophotography.
Can you do a versus of it to Nikon 28-400mm f4-8 and is this inspired from it? Also, do oi know any of your friends love to have a logo? I'm a freelance logo designer and right now I'm looking for more works
What are your takeaways from this brand new Tamron lens?
Sounds interesting, how does it compare to Tamron 50-400?
@@MMxx694 I’d love to answer that but I don’t know :( haven’t had a play with that lens.

Hey Ralph! Thanks very much for sharing this! Glad you liked the lens! 🙌🏼
Thanks guys. Much appreciated.
Will you release the lens with an s mount for pansonic

Haha nice mate 👊
So is this compatible with a Sony A6400?
I can’t see why it wouldn’t work, it would just have the focal length magnified.

Haha thanks mate. That is interesting about canopies. There might be a bit of truth in it. A giveaway would be nice lol very unlikely, but nice. 😉
This is the best review I've ever seen 🫢
This is the best comment I’ve ever seen. THANK YOU!
nice range, looks like my canon rf 24-240. cool video keep it up.
Thanks mate. Had a few unsubs from this vid, really strange 🤷🏼♂️
Hey, thanks for the detailed video! Could you list what the f-stop/mm length cut offs and boundaries are for this lens?
Ahhh that’s a great question. I no longer have the lens but I’ll see if I can find out for you.
@@RalphMayhewPhotography For anyone wondering, I was able to find the info:
28-34mm: f4
35-46mm: f4.5
47-54mm: f5
55-74mm: f5.6
75-145mm: f6.3
146-300mm: f7.1
Unofficial data is as follows
28mm f4
35mm f4.5
50mm f5
70mm f5.6
100mm f6.3
200mm f7.1
300mm f7.1
I understand that a 28-300mm can not be a constant f4 but going up to f7.1 is a quite narrow aperture.
You’re quite right. It seems in the updated lenses Tamron are bringing out recently they’re trying to keep that difference as small as possible.
This lens is for daytime landscape photography. No need for fast aperture.
@@DuskToDawn-D2Dthat wouldn’t be my choice of use for it, but everyone is different 🤷🏼♂️

Tamron makes a lot of Nikon's budget lenses, so they're probably related
If I had that lens I would, but I don’t sorry.
I’ve the Tamron 35-150 so I don’t think I’d get this. Great focal range though.
That’s fair 👍
wasted potential tamron
f7 yuck
tamron 70-300 f6.3............... beyond better
